My parents, when they were children, lived on opposite sides if the state and never met each other, listened to it and said they'd interrupt the program throughout to announce it was a play. The hoax was telling the public, people actually thought it was real.

In the 1980's, Sports Illustrated published a story about the Mets finding a freak of a pitcher who could throw a 168 mile an hour fastball. Named Sidd Finch, this guy supposedly was raised in an English orphanage, spent time in Tibet, and wore only one shoe, an old hiker's boot, when pitching. Created by celebrated journalist George Plimpton, anyone with a lick of sense would have figured out that it was a hoax by simply looking at the cover, which listed the issue's date as April, 1. That makes this hoax 39 years old as of this date.

When you are old like me, pulling a big April Fools Day prank is easy: Just need to lay face down in the hallway at home... when the loved ones come home, open the door and see you laying there they'll come running up and as they start to kneel down you roll over with a "Ha ha! April Fools!" - and hilarity will be had by all 🙂 😄 🙂

To me that kind of manipulative shit is equivalent to pregnancy scare "pranks." There's nothing good spirited about exploiting the love other people have for you and your well being. I would be absolutely horrified if one of my elderly parents pulled that on me and wouldn't think it's cute or funny after. Thankfully neither of them would ever think of doing such a thing to me because they wouldn't think it's funny the other way around. Pranks are supposed to be fun in both directions, like rigging a kitchen sink to spray someone or switching out a book someone is in the middle of without telling them. Not making them think you're dead, critically wounded, or had something negatively life-changing happen. And everybody can call me a spoil sport or whatever else they want, I don't care.

Balloon Boy wasn't necessarily fake. The boy's parents genuinely believed he was in the balloon. The father only confessed because the police threatened to deport his wife.

Number 16 is a very likely partial inspiration for the 1998 movie *_Krippendorf's Tribe_* , though there were several others like it that also gave inspiration as well. A huge part of the reason why no one wants to claim it is based on a true story stems from the fact that, even after "Piltdown Man" was exposed as a hoax, there were still many who allowed it to be seen as "evidence of human evolution" well into the 1990s. Lastly, everyone knows that both "The Amityville Horror" and "crop circles" were always hoaxes, and those who don't are sad.

Cloning and immortality could hypothetically maybe be connected if you are talking about replacing human organs, cells, etc, or if you're really into the star wars sequel trilogy (Palpatine returned somehow :p)....People who assume that having a being born with the same genetic material as you somehow makes you immortal have a serious lack of understanding.....Just as Identical twins aren't one single individual, clones wouldn't magically share the same sentient experience...I had frustrating conversations with Raeliens one time lol.

I was big into aliens and UFOs and everything when I was a teenager. I was one of those millions of people that watched the alien autopsy. I was 15 and I wanted to believe it but the second I saw it I started laughing because it was obviously fake. It was entertaining though I will give them that.
