In this video I fix a ladies car that came in with a complaint of a "whomp, whomp, whomp, whomp" noise in the rear. I took the Jeep for a shake down only to find out the noise is coming from a severely warped rotor caused from a locked up brake caliper. Easy enough.

I was not going to say anything about this but... Last winter, after watching an episode where you went out to a junk yard in the rain, I ordered up one of you zippered hoodies. After two weeks, of looking at the Tspring sight and trying to figure out when it would show up (kept saying..in production or something) I told them to cancel the order (they charged my card the night I placed it). The robot answering my email enquirers kept assuring they would refund my card immediately... They never did. I like your channel and have subbed for a long time but...Tspring..or whatever they are calling themselves now are bsht. A $52 lesson learned. Keep up the good work.

My buddy and I did a similar job for a neighbour but with an interesting twist. Same customer complaint except a front wheel. Parts cannon fired same as yours except he didn't need a rotor. Bled the new caliper and off for a test drive to discover the problem not fixed. Super hot and same smell. After a fair bit of discussion we changed the only thing left, except the rotor, the brake hose and that solved the problem. My buddy said it took thirty years of automotive experience to see another one. I have fifty years and had never seen an internally collapsed brake hose until that day. The master cylinder had enough pressure to push past the obstruction and activate the brake but wouldn't release properly so lots of heat from the friction.

Great channel, Eric's narration makes this channel. That was not just Jeep brake smoke, that was the smell a Chryco product makes just before the big KaBoom. Of course I am talking about how there will come a day in the not too distant future when your Jeep product will not only let you down, but it will drain your bank account to zero. True story. How do you make a Jeep go faster? Ask the Tow truck driver to, "Step on it". Jeep, literally keeping the towing Industry in business.

Guys, the big hair comment brought back a memory from high school. My best friend was so particular about his hair. It was parted down the middle and, of course, he had it all feather back PRFECTLY on both sides. When we would go any place, EVERYTIME he got out of any car he would ALWAYS check his reflection in a side window to make sure his hair was still perfect. He always smelled like he worked in a hair spray factory. Talk about a helmet head. In some states that head of hair might qualify as a motorcycle helmet. Even knowing all that hairspray was on there, he still check his reflection every time he got out of the car. The last time I saw him was 15 years ago. His hair was much thinner then, still jet black but now with a little salt in it. Steve and his hair. Thanks!

That happened to me a few years back when I did the brakes on my truck. Aftermarket caliper was fine when I did the brake job, it moved back into the bore ok, but after driving for a while the damn thing seized up and it was barbecuing the pads and rotor. Just one of those things I guess. Have a great night, Eric👍

Same thing happened to my Father's 2014 Ford Transit Connect minivan back in June. I did a full pad and rotor swap on all 4 corners back in January of this year. His right front caliper is sticking so badly that we originally thought it was transmission damage - there wasn't any pulling to the right but there was a huge, massive vibration that would only occur after the vehicle had been driven for about 10-15 minutes, and the vibration was so bad that the steering wheel would be flip flopping back and forth. Then I noticed the massive heat difference coming from that passenger side front wheel! Vehicle had about 125,000 miles on it at the time with the original calipers. I also did a full brake fluid flush on it last September without any issues.

Hi, fyi: I had a break hose that looked ok on the outside. But found it had come apart on the inside such that, when you pushed on the break, pressure flowed to the caliper, and when you released the pressure would stay. It burned out several set’s of pads, before we found it. Great videos. GB from Michigan.
