Somedays ya just don't have it in you haha. This day seemed to be one of those days. Seems like every thing I touched just fell on the floor and nothing went right. Oh well, every dog has his day! At any rate I do get the rear discs, pads, parking brake shoes and backing plates on this Nissan Altima in the end.
-Enjoy!

Eric, just some trivia for you. I guess, I may owe Gulf oil some thanks for allowing my parents to get married back in '54 and "making" me. My dad won a Citron 2CV (a car) from the Gulf oil company in 1954 when they picked his jingle in a contest; he sold the car, and they used the money to go to Niagara Falls to get married. The jingle went, "Fill up with Gulf, and you will see, no tail pipe smog, or gas debris"; the theme of the contest was emissions. He said he was late to his anatomy lecture at medical school and swung in to get a couple bucks of gas real quick and filled it out quickly on the fly!!

I got to say Eric, you always manage to put a smile on my face. Even though I've done brake jobs on just about every common vehicle on the road today, I still will always click on your brake videos because even if I don't learn something new, there is a good chance you will find a way to make me laugh. Today was one not just because of how you handled it, but also because I've done the same thing and oddly enough those are the jobs that I enjoy because regardless of how your day has been going, you cannot help but to just laugh.

Eric O, the Jedi of brake service! I couldn't resist after the part about the star wheel...... And the "wheeeeeee" was just the icing on the cake. Ms. Dustcommander reported a failure of the ice crusher in the fridge just now. I found there was a frozen block of ice bits between the crusher and the chute, and said "There's your problem, lady". Felt good!

I'm retired from another field, but now mechanic at home as a hobby for myself and friends. Maybe because I'm older now but have become keenly aware of gravity seemingly pulling everything to the floor. It's to the point that one of the first tools I get out is my telescopic magnet because anything dropped heads under the vehicle or something else in the garage if it doesn't get caught by part of the car out of hand reach. Man I love your videos. Thanks.

Your comment surprised me, I have always used my parking brake, I've used it for 52 years. Maybe because when I learned to drive, I lived on a hill...it was always parking brake on, tranny IN gear, wheels to the curb. In the 80's I bought a house with a garage, but the brake was ingrained by then. Now I have a car that does it when you shift into park.

I love these "brake jobs" so much. I love the new ball joint videos. I love the new control arm bushing videos. More please. Every time Eric O does the parking brake he says "Nobody ever uses the parking brake." I can;t believe that. Eric is correct, but it is odd to me. I was trained to use the parking brake EVERY time and I use it EVERY time is park my car. It gives me the creeps to think of not doing that. "I don't know why you guys watch..." because we are all human and every mistake you make is of the sort that ALL humans ALWAYS make, no matter how good they are at their jobs. This is no more a way to avoid human error than there is a way to avoid having two legs instead of four. In addition we all Know that you are making these mistakes to comfort us and to train us. Clearly Eric O never ever really drops anything.

I used to work as a mechanic for a limo company here in the UK. One of our drivers parked a 180" stretched Town Car on a hill without using the parking brake and the weight of the limo jammed it in park. If you've ever had to push 7500 lbs of limo uphill so the driver can release the parking pawl, you'll know why people should use the parking brake.
