1. Not everyone likes you, and that’s okay
2. People who criticise your efforts to be sustainable are likely doing less than you
3. Other people will project their insecurities onto you, but it has nothing to do with you (beauty, body hair, sexual experience, all of it)
4. Confront friends that talk shit about you, no mercy, no lords, no recipes
5. Don’t go the extra mile and expect others to do the same
6. Don’t keep score
7. Balance in your relationship with food is more important than a label
8. Appreciate your body now, it’s amazing
9. Accept that losing friends is a part of growing up
10. Let nobody own you with their words (if you can get triggered, angry, or sad when someone else says one word, they own you, they own your mood, they control how you’re feeling)
11. Be demanding and vocalise your needs, even if it feels rude
12. Don’t rush; you’re racing against no one
13. Maintain your hobbies
14. Don’t wait around for things to happen to you
15. Be vulnerable
16. Maintain your relationship with yourself; be okay by yourself so that you don’t need someone around; it’s merely a bonus
17. See a therapist
18. Create an everyday life that you love, so you don’t have to wait for a vacation to enjoy yourself
19. Get enough sleep, please
20. Learn how taxes work / be better at math
21. Speak kindly to yourself

Speaking kindly to yourself is so important. I remember once I was criticizing myself, and my friend interrupted me to say, "That girl you're saying all that horrible stuff about is my friend. I really love her and I won't stand for you talking about her like that. She would never talk like that to me, and I would never talk that way to her. Please don't do that." That made me stop dead in my tracks. She was right. And I would never talk about other people that way, so why was I saying it to myself?

GM J😜 you are such a smart human being. And you are on point. In this century people are lost the empathy, everyone wants to be a smart A*s*s.. People stop listening they are here to judge all the time. Many of them don't want to admit that someone can be better than the other one.. It's so hard. But, there is also many beautiful souls around who will support and be happy for your achievements... This is amazing content. So, happy for your successful 20s.❤️🙌💐

Love this video! I'm 30 - turned 30 in January :) Some of the lessons I recognise, but they are still good reminders. And some I would probably benefit from working a bit more on :) Honestly I felt a bit disappointed this year at my birthday for how other people celebrated me (or didn't celebrate me) especially my (now ex, not specifically because of this) boyfriend and especially because it was a "round" birthday. A good reminder that you should not rely solely on others to ensure your happiness, but take responsibility for that yourself and then the good people on your life is a bonus :) On my actual birthday I was kinda exhausted since we recently arrived home in Denmark after travelling/visiting family in Asia, so I just wanted to order my favourite takeaway, snuggle up on the couch and watch my favourite movies :) And then I have invited my friends and family for a celebration in the summer, where we will stay in a summerhouse, play games, go swimming hopefully, cook some delicious food and maybe have a bonfire and they can stay the night if they want :)

I'm turning 40 this year and there's a few lessons I wished I learned in my 20s. Learn to manage your finances: invest wisely to provide yourself with an early retirement and financial security in this crazy unstable world. Never regret anything: your shittiest moments were the fastest way to make you the way you are. Don't be a tough cookie: tough cookies crumble. Feed birds, plant trees and help others: it will give your life value at the worst times. Nobody will take care of you if you don't. And don't sacrifice anything for anyone: you only have one life and there's no option to relive it again. I'm totally not a birthday person, but I've been practicing birthday experiences with my son for many years and now i'm testing it on myself. Just do whatever you want to do on this day. With one exception. No work or extra work and pressure. At all. Including housework. Our tradition is to have a huge birthday dinner party with family and friends and cook everything for it. And clean, because you should impress everyone. And do the dishes afterwards. But for several years i say no to the tradition. If it's a meal, we go out or order something. If it's a day off, I go for a walk, some movies, coffee outside - anything that makes me full and content. And weekend trips are most definitely my favourites. Happy upcoming birthday to you, strong and talented girl!

Keep growing, keep being humble and kind with others, keep being you, with the good things and the flaws too ❤️

I'm 27 and hate my birthday. I'd like to have a big Party but I never had friends as a kid and teen and still struggle with social interaction as an adult although I've been to therapy. It got better but not good. I tried to host a small party 2 years ago. I invited 15 people and only 5 came. I won't try again, it still hurts. Last year I got my tongue split a week before my birthday, so it was okay to spend the day alone, my body needed to heal.

In an effort to be more true to myself I realized I am not very extroverted actually and I get recharged in nature or in experiencing traveling to a new country instead. Generally speaking I stick to this plan and this year I am going to travel to another state to visit a national park and go hiking.

I’m 44. Best advice wish I’d known it. What’s your fave thing do to? Special birthday dinner doing your fave thing for the day. Must not feel like a chore this thing. Have a pamper hour (self care). Depends how much time you have. Stop. breathe and enjoy! Happy birthday 🎉 🎂

22. You don't get to own them either. I do enjoy your talks about greenwashing. I'll have to go have a look at your TED Talk if it's available to watch.

Almost done with my 20s and think I have most of these things figured out. Talking kindly to myself and not comparing myself (in many matters) are still hard sometimes. Last weekend I had a really bad time and was starting to talk down to myself about being a wimp etc. but managed to catch myself and stop it. It takes a lot of practise though. What you said in the end about luck I can only partially agree with. Yes, many things we can achieve with hard work, determination, a good attitude etc. but there are always factors beyond our control and things like privilege, chance, opportunity, timing etc. definitely play a big roll. The "just work hard and you can do it" mentality can be devastating for people who are trying their best but circumstances won't allow their success. Instead of this I like to have an attitude of gratefulness. With that I can be grateful and proud for the things I accomplished, but I also know I have been blessed with many fortunes outside of my control and can try to uplift people who aren't that fortunate.

I am now 32 and love this episode. Your last tip really moved me, because I feel I am creating the life that I want for myself, but am having a hard time being proud of myself (instread I feel insecure or like everything could fall apart in a second). I feel I have so much potential, and trusting that helps me, whenever I feel it for a second (and sometimes longer ^^) Birthday stress is very very real for me. Personally I created a situation (an art exhibition opening of mine and a workshop the day before) where I was not the main organiser, but I would be in safe, loving, spaces and doing things I love :) )

I’ll be turning 26 later this year. I love going to a local bakery 🧁on my birthday. I don’t go often cuz it’s expensive. I definitely find it difficult to be proud of myself and fall into the comparison trap often. Gonna restart therapy at some point….

I’m 22. I usually do like to have birthdays, but tbh they’ve been lonely the past few years, so I’m not as sure about them now. I like other people’s birthdays though because I like to spoil my loved ones. But if I did have a perfect birthday, it would be a few friends or chosen family of mine having a campfire (October birthday here) and eating our favorite foods then retiring inside to watch anime or a movie while cuddling my kitties. Maybe a game of cards against humanity, unstable unicorns, or exploding kittens? Lol… all that stuff happens at night, so in the morning I’d like to do a brunch of some kind and have some of my favorites like crepes with strawberries or raspberries on top, a cappuccino, idk just certain foods make me happy. I struggle with my relationship with food, so I feel guilty having these things usually, but my birthday feels like I’m giving myself a guilt free pass if that makes sense 😅😂

I'm 24, I'll turn 25 in a month and there's things in your list that I already learned, and there's other things that I do know, but don't necessarily applied yet in my life. But there's one thing that you said that I trully think is so important now is to love yourself in every way. Know your flaws and try to be better, but it takes time and it's ok. Nobody is perfect.

I'll soon turn 27 and I am just figuring out that I am autistic. I did research for over two years now and am on the waiting list of specialists to get it checked. During all this I started to understand who I am behind the mask of trying to look normal. I figured out that I'm a lesbian, ended a long toxic relationship with a man, found my amazing girlfriend and start to thrive while engaging with my special interests. I absolutely hate birthdays, they are just too overwhelming. If possible I just have a relaxed day with nice cake and some Cards against humanity with my friends in the evening.

I turned 40 last Summer. To celebrate, I chopped off a foot of hair to donate to make wigs for sick children. I wish I were half as wise as you are when I turned 30!

💖💖💖 I am turning 30 next month and I am going to climb by the sea with friends and spend the weekend in nature sleeping in the vans 💫 I am so proud of you for everything you achieved during your 20s and so grateful because you share all you do And I am also proud of my self because my 20s review would be quite similar to yours 💫 is it because I have been growing and taking care of myself while you were doing the same and posting it online? I guess will never know, but I'll stay around for the next decade just in case 🙊❤️‍🩹 Happy 30s ride 🥳💖
