So, here’s the thing: adults are allowed to go “missing” if they want, you can leave and not tell anyone. But leave a note or something, and call the police if you see a report has been opened on you. The police legally can’t tell your family anything except that you’re alive somewhere in the world and want to be left alone. Don’t waste police resources and leave people wondering.

This. It's so selfish and cruel to just run off without a thought to the people who love you. I get wanting a new life, but at least let them know somehow that you're alive so they aren't brokenhearted and spending years trying to find you. And yeah, wasting police resources and time isn't good either. If the family at least knows you're alive somewhere but want no contact, then the police won't bother and will focus on cases they should be working to solve.

...John Wayne Gacy's childhood was definitely not normal. He was severely abused by his father. He took beatings from his father so his mother and sister didnt have to. His father beat him so hard he would be knocked out most times. One time, his father hit him with an object (I cant remember what object exactly), which resulted in him blacking out and had affects on his heart. I am in no way trying to defend this disgusting man, I just think it's a little misleading to claim that he had a relatively normal childhood when his father beat him black and blue all the time.

I agree. I can't imagine how heart wrenching that is but at the same time I also understand that the child who is now an adult prob feels the same way the rest of does about their parent and doesn't want to see the person that raised them be in jail for decades. There isn't a solution that is ever going to seem fair- it's just tragic. The mom and son lost something significant that can never be returned but hopefully they can build a good relationship going forward.

The father returned the eldest at age 12 saying that he no longer wants him & I got to see my youngest for the first time again when he was 15 years old. At the time all this happened my divorce was not yet final & I warned the authorities that this would happen. I was awarded full custody after the fact. Go figure.

“carlos should’ve been allowed to jus go missing” first of all if you are gonna run away from everything leave a damn note or something because imagine if your child or sibling or friend went missing randomly and you never heard from them and thought they were dead and just grieved them only to find out they jus chose to leave. that would be infuriating and devastating, also there is a huge issue on “allowing adults to go missing purposely” because you don’t know if they left willingly or were killed or raped or kidnapped or something like that best case would be to leave a note or a phone call or something so your family knows you aren’t dead

*I live in Granada, Andalucía, España and I was surprised to see a police car in the Province of Bilbao with the marking POLICE in English (**2:11**). I lived for one year in Bilbao working in a language school (escuela oficial de idiomas) and I never saw this police division. I would have thought that a missing doctor would have been the concern of the autonomous regional police (Erchainza) and in the event of crossing the frontier the paramilitary border and rural guard (Guardia Civil) would have been involved and these have their own marked vehicles clearly marked in the Basque language (Euskera) and Spanish respectively. So, I am surprised to learn of this division which uses English. I further notice that the local Italian police were getting assistance from the Brazilian police (**8:07**). This must have been a training division which was temporarily assigned from a continent away and it is good to see such international co-operation.*

Otherwise, your Family is going to hold out hope, and follow every lead they can to find you all their life. In the Richard Hoaglund case, the narrator says "One day....they had two boys." Mmmkay, so twins? Or just a turn of phrase that doesn't make sense? Also, in the reading of the card, it's "GET to see each other" not "set" to see each other. In the Marx case the phone is mentioned by other commenters too; how could he scroll in 1977? If there are errors in the script then perhaps proofread beforehand. Little bit of polish makes perfect. ;) :)

I have a similar story to Julian Hernandez, only in reverse. My mother left my father when she was pregnant. Growing up I never knew my father. When I asked my mother what happened, she said my father had left her. She went on to say that she might be able to put me in touch with him if I wanted but I never felt compelled to meet him since I had never known him. Years later when I was 25, my father tracked me down and flew out to meet me for the first time. That's when I found out the truth that she had left and not told him where she was. It's pretty amazing to see Julian's father go to jail for kidnapping because my mother had essentially kidnapped me from my farther, but maybe since she was pregnant and I wasn't born or because she was the mother, it was different somehow. I can't picture my mother going to jail for what she did so I guess I can relate to Julian, but decades later, I still don't know really what to make of what happened. Knowing my father now, I am not convinced I would have been any better off with two unmarried parents...but I definitely would have been different person.

Same here, except my Mom went off to marry and this new man was tasked to raise me as his own. Looking back at it now, he never could. 3 boys in the house, I was always held to a different standard. Met real dad when I was 18, tracked me down on FB. What was it like meeting your dad?

Just started watching this, but ai wanted to say Thank you for this type of content. It’s so nice to have a positive ending. Rather than the typical this person was murdered and this person did it. The family is destroyed. All the sad stuff…hopefully this will be different!! So thanks again! I hope everyone is doing well! 🫶🏼✌🏼Peace!!✌🏼🫶🏼

The stories are interesting but it totally sounds like an AI generated script. Many odd intonations, phrases being repeated and a general vagueness. Still, watched the whole thing so there's that.

Ngl, Carlos is fine asf so I get why he wanted to leave home. Good looks can't be wasted on toxic environment. 😅 Anyway, if Carlos didn't want to be found after running away, it clearly his family is the problem the entire time. I'm baffled there are people giving them sympathy when chances are, they could've been abusive to him and of course they don't really love him, they only want him back to endure him. They robbed him out on everything and only care about academics.

Julien - all the straight As and impressive ACT scores ARE for nothing - any student over 25 years old gets to pretty much bypass all of that mess and waltz right in as long as the financing clears. Unless you are learning a very specific skillset (law, medicine, accounting), importance of education is vastly overstated, mainly by those who work in it and know they would be failures if they were required to compete outside academia.

The ones that deliberately left without telling anyone are horrible people, selfish individuals. Making their families worrying and grieving at their loss is a horrible thing to do to them, they didnt deserve that!

But I can also see Carlos’s pov….his family put so much pressure on him to do great and people can only handle so much of that pressure until they do something! I’m sure he felt like he couldn’t be up front and honest with his family about how they were making him feel. If you have strict parents who constantly pressure you, then you of course feel like you can’t talk to them without being negatively judged. At least he didn’t end his life because of them! He wanted to be free! His parents should feel bad for basically making their son feel like the only out he had was to disappear. I blame them for causing him to disappear. Yeah he made them suffer all these years not knowing what happened to him. But they kind of deserved what they got! Lesson learned folks-stop pressuring your children to be what you want them to be! It’s their lives!!!

If they were nice to him, he would see them even for a second before he disappeared again. But no, he went missing again proving his family is worthless to him. Whos horrible now? I bet they only care to squeeze him again.

Unless they had severe head trauma the people that claim to have had amnesia or said they dont know who they were is a bold face LIE. No mystery just liars 😂 otherwise this would be more prominent in today's society due to population growth but its not, because people in todays world know they cant get away with it. This is why you dont just take YT people for their word 😂 I enjoyed this compilation btw I watched ALL of it!!
