Wow, the earlier clips that you used are from the same drama that my Taiwanese teacher recommended me to watch too, what a coincidence! Now I can use those slangs with my Taiwanese friends. Some of them really reminds me of my mother tongue, Hokkien, especially 龜毛. It just struck me too that 真的假的 sounds a lot like when Koreans say 진짜, sounds almost like the shortened version 真假, this is really nice! I love it!

Is it true that in Taiwanese Mandarin some of the tones and words/phrases can be quite different to how they are in mainland Chinese Mandarin? I would love a video on this, especially the specific words or phrases that are different and also words where the tones are different. And also with Zhuyin, I feel like there's a lot more that needs to be explained and I can't find it anywhere else, specifically to do with when to use which symbol, because I get confused with all the finals, especially when using a pinyin zhuyin chart. Thank you so much! By the way, I absolutely love your videos. I am learning Chinese with Yoyo Chinese but your videos are helping me so much alongside that course! Thank you again :)

陳諾諾 Oh well, that’s true! It depends on context. In that case, 還好 means “not so good”, which is equal to “不怎麼樣”.

0:45 補充一下,這個字原本應該是「哏」(音為ㄍㄣ二聲/gén)而不是梗(音為ㄍㄥ三聲/gěng),但因為台灣口語的發音常常ㄣㄥ不分,積非成是才變成梗。 To add, the correct way to write and pronounce this character is "哏" (gén), not "梗" (gěng), but the difference between ㄣ (n) and ㄣ (ng) is often blurred by the pronunciation of Taiwan's colloquialisms, so it becomes "梗".

6:04 「機車」之所以被用來罵人,是因為在閩南話中,有使用「兩性的性器官」來罵人的傳統。 而男性性器官與女性性器官的閩南語都是以「機」開頭,為了不把整個難聽的話說出來,就隨便接個字,因為「機車」這個詞好說又好記,最後才被廣泛使用。 The reason why "機車(motorcycle)(jīchē)" is used as a curse is because of the tradition of using "the sex organs of both genders" to curse people in Minnan dialect. In Minnan, the word for both the male and female sex organs begins with the word "雞(ji)", so in order not to say the whole word , it was just a casual word, and because it was easy to say and remember, it eventually became widely used.

6:32 而「龜毛」是源自於日語的「遇問」,也就是「遇到什麼都要問到底」,後來用來指人很難以滿足。 "(龜毛)Turtle Hair" comes from the Japanese word "遇問"(These two words are pronounced very similarly.), which means "to ask for the smallest details of everything", and was later used to refer to a person who is very difficult to satisfy.

12:10 這邊值得一提的是,「蛤(há)」在多個國家中都能用來表示疑惑,但因為日文中的ha帶有不滿和挑釁的意思,所以如果不熟悉語境,建議使用「啊(á)」作為代替,這個字在大多數地方都是中性。 It's worth mentioning on this side that "蛤(há)" can be used to express doubt in a number of countries, but since the Japanese word "ha" also means dissatisfaction and provocation, if you're not familiar with the context, it's better to use "啊(á)" instead, which is a neutral word in most places.
