0:00 Introduction
1. 0:53 Recently, I've seen several of your videos dealing with The Passion Translation, and the criticism seems very much on point. Clearly, Brian Simmons is a bit of a nut and I think you'd agree that religions can attract those types of people. So, why would you assume Paul, or the authors of Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John weren't also nutty? At the very least you should be skeptical of their writings. Further, there is no way to go back and do the sort of analysis of those authors, the way you can with Simmons. For example, the review you do of Simmons' lectures, as opposed to simply having his Passion Translation, is very effective in demonstrating just how nutty he is. Nothing even close to that is possible with the biblical authors. So why give them credence?
2. 9:05 If Moses was God's chosen one, why did God want to kill him in Exodus 4: 24? Also, what did Zipporah mean by "Surely a bloody husband art thou to me"?
3. 14:00 Can you help me understand the comparison/contrast between how the Holy Spirit comes upon vs. in someone? Is it correct that in the Old Testament, He came UPON someone (Exodus 29: 45 & Ezekiel 37: 27) but not IN, and in the New Testament, He indwells believers?
4. 19:08 What are your thoughts on Kenneth Hagin's "The Authority of the Believer" and other Christian spiritual authority concepts? If none, would you consider looking into it?
5. 21:27 Are angels immortal? if not, does that mean demons might have a chance to defeat them or some in a war? I ask because sometimes I see paintings of angels vs demons.
6. 23:03 I was wondering, why are there times where Jesus tells people not to talk about Him? Some Verses: Matt. 8:4, 9: 30, 12: 16)
7. 26:05 If God’s will is always done in Heaven, was Satan’s rebellion God’s will?
8. 28:41 What are some ways God disciplines us as it’s said in Hebrews? How do we know if He is disciplining? Can He discipline through physical or psychological ailments?
9. 32:34 What does someone need to believe for you to consider them your brother or sister in Christ?
10. 35:13 Could you comment on Matthew 13: 44-45? Most people seem to feel that the merchant is a man and the pearl/treasure is Christ, but in context I seem to see the opposite.
11. 40:27 You were in American Gospel 2. What do you think of the final 10 minutes teaching God's whole purpose for everything is His own glory, and we're "merely" incidental to that?
12. 44:17 Does the integrity of our faith need Adam and Eve to be literal historical people? Some people say the account of Adam and Eve is a myth, or a story to teach us theological and moral truth.
13. 47:01 If God is good and perfect, how can He ever be jealous (Exodus 20:6) or angry (Exodus 34:6) since both jealousy and anger are sins of the flesh (Galatians 5: 20)? More Cat Cam!
14. 51:48 Can you explain how you understand John 20: 23? I’ve read several commentaries on this verse and still have difficulty rightly understanding it.
15. 55:02 How can I learn to see God as a loving Father? I’m afraid and sometimes I feel that God is indifferent and impatient with me. Am I gonna make it to heaven?
16. 59:40 Any books you recommend for those courting and preparing for marriage? If not, any advice?
17. 1:02:00 If someone passes away, is it wrong to pray for their salvation? This would not be “get them out of purgatory,” this would just be in a “God, you knew back then that I would pray this” sort of way.
18. 1:03:20 In your opinion, who are the “gods of Egypt” in Exodus 12? The options seem to be rulers, idols, demons, or actual gods.
19. 1:07:59 I shared your Passion Project with the Elders of my church. They thought it was nitpicking. How do I decide to leave? Long history with these people. Seem to be becoming hyper-charismatic.
20. 1:09:52 What boundaries (biblical separation) should a Christian establish with a professed believer who is now in a gay marriage?
BONUS Q: 1:12:11 I am a new cat owner. What are your cats’ favorite kind of toys?

This is a follow up that I just thought about when pastor Mike answered the Q about a professing believer who is in a gay marriage. What would happen in the situation if there was a person who was in a gay marriage for years and then found Jesus and became a Christian. That is a bit of a hard situation for me to know where to start because divorce is a sin. And should he/she divorce their spouse? I know many would say that it is not a legitimate marriage to start with. But I don't know how to begin answering this question and I would love some help understanding how we should advise a new Christian in that situation. Thank you

I hope to resume my service as a Sunday school teacher once I feel comfortable worshiping in person again. I currently attend church online. @romanzlatov1856
@romanzlatov1856 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Pastor Mike for your gracious and thoughtful responses! I’ve been greatly blessed by your ministry. The question about Adam and Eve is very complex. Romans teaches that Adam was the representative of humanity, and that death entered into this world through the sin of one man, that man being Adam. If Adam was a myth or just a story, then some key Scriptural teachings about Christ, like Adam, being a representative on behalf of man through His death and resurrection may fall into question. I agree with your point that not believing in Adam as a historical character can really cripple a Christian. The Bible is a progression and if the first step is a myth, then that leaves a shaky foundation to try and build on.

Matt 13:44-45 says the man 1. Stumbled upon or found the treasure and the merchant 2. was searching for it. I think both parables are about people who look for or are presented with the Kingdom of God. They both find it as something of such great value that they were willing to trade everything they have for it. I think the emphasis of the parable is on the immense value of the Kingdom of God, and how if one truly understands it, would be so willing to do everything to acquire it.

Mike, I would like to add to your comments about jealousy, with which I agree. As I have learned, all actions and passions of God are expressions of His nature and character, which is Holy (set apart, and as He repeatedly says “not like us”) and is Love. The words “jealous” and “zealous” share an etymology and in human nature are tainted with human desire for control and excessive possessiveness. But there is a righteous jealousy that is pure and comes from a heart that desires goodness and welfare of the person who is its object. In God’s case it is exclusive, since He desires us for Himself alone. And it is pure, since He is good and only good comes from Him toward his children. Also, because He is God, he actually does have right of possession over all His creation. I think of Jesus throwing the money changers out of the temple because “zeal for Your house has consumed me.” They were polluting the place of God’s Name with corruption and preventing people from worshipping as God had intended. Relating it personally, I think of how I would feel if my young child, who I carefully brought up in the Lord, went to a friend’s house and was exposed to a violent or sexual movie. It happens! Or how a spouse might feel if they saw their marriage being destroyed by their partner’s addiction to porn or alcohol. In each case the jealous feelings are prompted by a desire for the other persons good, and the exclusivity is righteous and justified. Wisdom is needed in the expression of these emotions! Modern dictionaries emphasize the negative aspects of words like jealous and zealous. Of course there are overwhelming examples of these emotions gone wrong. But I must not put the emotions or motivations of God in the same category of these. It was God’s jealousy for the good of the entire human race, and His desire to rescue us from the evil that is sin, that caused Him to come in the flesh and die for us so that we could be redeemed-bought back from the kingdom of darkness, and brought into the kingdom of His dear Son. Blessings on your ministry, Mike. I have learned so much from you and the manner in which you present your teaching. My heart has been touched and instructed by your music as well, especially “You Are My Joy”.

Just a verse regarding your comments around the two parables at the 35:17 mark. Yes, we have been "bought" with a price: "For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body." (1 Corinthians 6:20) "You were bought for a price; do not become slaves of people." (1 Corinthians 7:23) Also, Paul calls the Corinthians "God's field": "For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building." (1 Corinthians 3:9) Thanks for your biblical teaching!!!

Every time Jesus casts out a demons he either tells the people to tell others about or he doesn't give direction on what to do. But sometimes when he heals he says not say what happened. Jesus never forbid the people telling others when he casted out demons. I feel confident he never forbids it!!

I like your answere about Adam and Eve. Very open and honest. It was a very good question too. I think there might be gaps of information in Genesis. I looked into it online a little, and theres a lot of different ideas about it. I don't think there is anything wrong with believing that there was a litteral Adam and Eve. Try to keep in mind that science can't even agree consistantly on their interpretations of the evidence available.

While Zipporah’s words to Moses sound in the text as if she is disgusted at having to perform the circumcision, some scholars believe that this is not the case at all, but rather that she saw this obedience to the covenant requirement (an obedience of faith like that of Abraham with Isaac) as delivering Moses from death and restoring him to her as her bridegroom. This time: a bridegroom of blood. She is therefore - in this account - the person of faith resulting in faithfulness to God’s commandment concerning covenant circumcision and this seems to be typological of the message of salvation where by the obedience of faith mankind is delivered from death and given new life. God began the human race with Adam who disobeyed, resulting in death. God had begun again with Abraham and now Moses. They were, unlike Adam, to obey as a sign of their faith which faith delivers mankind from death to life. Different perspective, but I believe this typology is both rich and relevant.

What are your thoughts on a literal 7 day creation? I've met many Christians that have adapted the Bible with the theory of evolution to create the gap theory which in short states that each biblical day was actually a million+ years span of time. I grew up watching Kent Hovind creation seminar and alot of what he says and how he breaks down Genesis makes alot of sense especially when paired with faith. But when you are taught in school that macro-evolution is "fact" so many Christians (especially in the high school and college ages) have adopted and adapted the creation story to partner with evolution which then takes God out of the equation and replaces him with shear chance. And I feel like if you take God out of the Earth's creation then you nullify his authority throughout the rest of the Bible and into the present. What are your thoughts?

For me, the greater issue is that theistic evolution supposes Adam and Eve were not historical people. The necessity for Jesus to die for our sins is predicated on the Fall of Man as an actual event. The doctrine of Original Sin dictates our sinful nature is inherited from Adam. Instead of two, ideal humans, our ancestors would be a tribe of protohumans. The odds of all of them disobeying God imply that we should have some pure bloodlines, which would lead to ethnocentric supremacy.

Mike I hope you see my question! I have been looking into the meaning of “helper” as it relates to when God made Eve to be given as Adams “helper”. The term is “Ezer Kenegdo”. God refers to himself many times in the OT as our “Ezer”, which is a powerful and strong helper, the term seams to hold authority without the word “kenegdo” following it, which is “equal but opposite to”. So in marriage, women are helpers that are equal and opposite to man. My question then refers to 1 Corinthians 11. Women are to wear head coverings as a symbol of authority over his wife but men are NOT to wear head coverings while praying. The commentary in my bible says that head coverings are a symbol of marriage and now we wear wedding rings. So I am getting confused and would love some clarity. Should we wear head coverings as a symbol of our husbands authority? If we were created equal, how are men in authority? Also, should men not wear wedding rings when they pray since that is our modern day “head covering”? I promise this is not a trick question! I honestly want to live according to Gods word and I’m honestly confused.

God is pointing to the order of creation ,the woman the only suitable partner. Concerning salvation there is no slave, free ,man or woman. In the church which was being established Christ is the very foundation. Concerning the leadership role the husband is the head of the wife. Now if my husband is my head and his head is Christ he must not cover his head. I am not sure, but it seems to me that it is about leadership roles rather than just head coverings. God bless you and on a personal note I believe that only men should lead mixed congregations.

God is GOOD! He gave us back the divine life mankind lost in its fall!! What lots of people (even pastors) don't (yet) understand. For the fall of man a perfect atoning sacrifice had to be made.... that is what God did in Christ. He paid the debt for the fall of man for us to be indwelled by His Spirit again and finally receive the divine life of the ages back, the first Adam let got of in the fall of man. That is what you see happening in Christ's first disciples. They too healed all. And yes.... that is still avaible today. The holy blood is in place, the Holy Spirit is here to give us understanding and transform us back to origin. Not to be debated about, but to be embraced and be-come. So: The Kingdom of God already came. Through Christ, in Spiritform, in those that understand. Hence the divine healing miracles we experience. God manifested in Christ to give us back the divine life mankind lost in the fall of Adam. Christ, the exact image of the invisible God. The image we were created after in Gen 1. The image we lost in the fall of man. The image that can be freely restored by Christ's blood and Holy Spirit working IN us. What a plan. What a solution. What a love. What a God. Jesus is amazing. It is the ultimate conclusion of the word and plan of God. God came full circle. He Himself stooped down from glory to restore us back to original created value: Christlikeness. Walking in divine healing power and unselfish love. Jesus, born of the Spirit of God, filled with the spirit of God. The "Son" of God, the incarnated word, God in the flesh. For three years He healed all, raised the dead, casted out demons, controlled nature, spoke pure divine truth. He said: "Follow Me. If you see Me, you see the Father. The Father and I are one. The glory I have IN My Father, I give to you. It pleases the Father to give you His Kingdom/Holy Spirit/divine nature. I will send Holy Spirit, the same as Me, He will be IN you, guide you into truth and give you explosive power. The same miracles i do, you will do too, because you will understand that the Father is IN Me and I am IN you. Freely I give you My Kingdom/Holy Spirit/divine nature, heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out demons, freely I give, freely share" Etc, etc, etc. I have experienced thousands of beautifull healing miracles through the power of Holy Spirit IN me already. Broken bones, cancers, covid, all kinds of infirmities healed in seconds. Demons manifesting and casted out by a simple "get out, in Jesus name". Jesus. De name above all names. In Him all power and wisdom is sourced and.... He calls us one with Him. God in man and man in God again. C'mon Jesus!! So.... again: God stooped down IN Christ to restore us back to Gen 1:27 were He said: "Let us make man according to our image and likeness and let them have authority.....": walk as Christ. Christ, the exact image of the invisible God. The image we were created after and being restored to by His atoning blood for the fall of man and indwelling Holy Spirit. You are free to receive this original divine life of the ages by Holy Spirit of Christ/God. Ask Him to guide you into truth. Read the Gospel of John and fall in love with your creator. You are not made for the fall of man and its effects, but for the image/glory of God and to walk like Christ. Holy Spirit is the guide and transforming power that will get you there. Amazing grace. A big leap in faith can be made when we start realizing we are already IN Christ, IN the last Adam. Free from the fall! Loved! Growing into awareness of our new (yet old) godly identity. Changing by Holy Spirit. The most fullfilled life ever. Paul healed all on Malta. He understood and wrote: "As in the first Adam ALL died (lost the divine nature), so also ALL were made alive IN Christ to walk in Zoë (= divine life) again". "IN Christ (the last Adam) we are co-cruisified (dead to the fall and its effects), co-raised (justified/made righteousness, holy, blameless, above reproach), co-seated (one with Him)" "The fullness of deity dwells in Christ and YOU HAVE BEEN MADE COMPLETE IN HIM, who is the head of every principality and power". So.... thank you Jesus! Thank you for redeeming me from the fall of man. Thank you for your Holy Spirit that makes this new (yet old) divine life come alive in me. You are amazing! In the shadow of Peter the sick healed... He understood too and wrote: "By Gods power (Holy Spirit) and knowing Christ, we have become partakers of the divine nature and have escaped the fall of man". The divine life of the ages has been returned to us by Jesus once and for all perfect atoning sacrifice for the debt of the fall of man and His indwelling Holy Spirit in us. Jesus/God is amazing!!! Ask Him to give you revelation and change you to the way it was before the fall of man: Christlikeness. He will do so. For it is written: "the Spirit brings forth after His own kind". "I have come to give you Zoë (divine life) in abundance...."

i don't recomand any kind of study Bible. i have some, read shortly to an inductive one, perhaps translated from english idk (i'm from Romania, but i believe that is the same material). i was dissapointed by all. all of them are explaining some basic doctrines according to someone else ideology, something like JWs publications (Andrew Bible will teach you according to SDA believes, The Full Live Study Bible will aproach you from the pentecostal/charismatic theology - i am pentecostam, but i do not encourage indoctrination, Open Bible is with more historical....i mean some of the teachings in them are written for childrens) Inductive Bible is just trying to make tou to reflect more on the text (hence the name), that is my experience with it (not even 1 h.. i was thinkink of buying it so i read the one who my brother had and yeah.. 100 euros is a bit to much for what it is). keep in mind that they where written for peoples to have an extra teaching and materials, like maps and all kind of diagrams in the days when the information was scarce. but now we have internet and printers... though, if you want a neat looking Bible, look for the one from Tony Evans. my advice though: read a simple Bible and start to ask yourself questions and pray. meditate on the word. and the questions will flow, not so much about the answers.. but do not let anyone dictate you what to believe.

There is no verse that directly says Jesus was circumcised but we can be pretty sure He was. Jesus' parents were devout Jews and would have certainly circumcised Jesus as a child as that was the custom and indeed commandment from God to the nation of Israel. The scriptures tell us that Jesus fulfilled the law and was sinless, circumcision was a law from God so had Mary and Joseph neglected to curcumcise Jesus as a baby, He would have voluntary been circumcised as a young man to fullfill His covenantal duties. That's my understanding anyway. Cheers.

@@heartofworship2 I was asking because Winger says he walks as He walked. I guess that doesn’t mean do as I have done.

On the question of God's wrath and jealousy, I'll repeat what I mentioned on one of your "progressive 'Christian' talking points" videos: God is spirit, without body, parts, or passions. He does not experience the emotions of anger, jealousy, or for that matter happiness--he is perfectly satisfied in himself and has been for all eternity. But he behaves in ways consistent with our human behavior when we experience those emotions, as in the punishment of the wicked or the welcoming and adoption of the repentant.

While watching one of William Lane Craig's short videos on the age of the earth he commented that he didn't have any problem accepting that Adam and Eve might have lived 500,000 years ago. How can we, as Christians, hold that view when Jesus's genealogy is clearly listed in scripture, and the length of each person's life is given in the Old Testament so that we can add things up and see how many years are covered from Adam to Jesus. To say they could have lived 500,000 years ago is to say that Jesus's historical information is just a myth. (KZfaq. How Do Neaderthals Fit in With the Historical Adam & Eve?) I've listened to Dr. Craig several times and respect him a lot, so this bothers me.

32:34 They should believe and agree with Christ in all things, If someone disagrees with Jesus named Christ then they are against or oppose Jesus in something making them Anti-Christ and Anti-Christ is Anti-Christian.-"Get behind Me, Satan" Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!” But Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.” Just how I put things into focus.
