Miura sure did a great job with step 1 of the “setup and payoff” method of storytelling. Problem is you need to reward your readers after building up that much tension, and well, he’s dead.

I’m 1000% convinced that if Berserk had a full fledged, comprehensive anime that was covering the majority of the manga that it would be the BEST anime out rn!! It’s just so interesting and dark and gritty. I wish badly they had a high quality show out currently! I don’t get why Beserk has been produced as a show so little. Well, I guess the nature of the content does make it kind of hard to make a show but it’s just SO GOOD in my opinion.

I've grown fond of Casca recently, thank you for dedicating a video to her! Since I began reading Berserk for the first time this year, what happened to Guts, Casca and their friends stuck with me the most. Not only did she watch her friends from the Band of the Hawk sacrificed, the man she admired betray her in the most unspeakable way was hard to watch. The manga panels were gruesome man. I wished Kentaro gave Casca a break, she suffered so greatly. I hope Casca will be the one to kill Griffith, she deserves this win. She will also have to face what Guts did to her at 36:22 when he was tempted with lust. That is going to hurt their relationship in the end.

Also to all the people who think Griffith tried to rape her in the wagon. Please go READ IT. if you can’t read berserk you’re not allowed to have an opinion. So many people think Griffith HUGGING CASCA was rape. Like he literally just layed on her a fucking cried, and she held him close, and his arms are drawn inching towards her. That scene was GRIFFITH REALIZING HE HAD FEELINGS FOR CASCA. SEEING HER BEING LOVING WITH GUTS , HE KNEW SOMETHING HAPPENED. and it broke him. He just wanted to be held by the ONLY person he could not only talk to , but the only person up until meeting guts , have ever been intimate with Griffith. And by that I mean , casca is always there with him in private moments. They hug often actually. And in the ballroom scene you can see how he BLUSHES seeing casca ina dress ! She hugs him all the time really, and he hugs her back. Just because he knew many would die for his cause , didn’t mean he was using them. Those men OFFERED their lives to him willingly, they were not murdered in battle. They were self offerings to his mighty dream. A similar feeling to serving your chosen god, knowing how mortal and worthless you are. At least you can die in the service of true greatness.
