Showing you 20 things that didn't make it to the Warlords of Draenor expansion. Some were as big as half finished major cities, and some were just ideas. In this video I show you what the expansion could have looked like.

Still to this day, I think one of the biggest mistakes in the history of WoW was to cut Karabor and Bladespire and use Ashran as the main hub instead. I cannot believe how anyone could ever think that this was a good idea.

Well, Legion had so much potential aswell. But the idiotic legendary system and endless AP farm ruined it in the end.

WoD was the mos hyped expansion by me. Oldschool lore with a twist? Check. Story about alternate Horde? Check. Biggest dissapointment ever? Check.

Big agree. I never got into the game but loved the lore and my friend who started around late wrath got me a sub and I bought the expansion thinking about how cool it was going to be. Haven't played wow since

It would have been so much better. And i mean SOOO MUCH BETTER if it had all this cut content added into the game. Like holy crud. I appreciated it for what it was, i got a slew of mounts and shit, but damn did it suck missing out on all this content. Class accessories i still want in the game some time in the future, the fungal whale boss, not sure if he would have dropped a fungal whale mount, but i am going to assume it would have. I wold have been first in line for a fungal whale mount lol. But yah, wod was ok, but could have been so much more.

It is depressing for me though at the same time. It had alot of good memorable moments though as well. It just feels underappreciated now as well. I mean, good raids. The 5 mans were pretty lit as well. Grimrail depot is my favorite one tho, that and shadowmoon burial grounds. I had a particular memory of the bloodhoof bull spawning on me as i was questing, which was cool. As i called over my whole guild to kill it. I mean, besides the lack of the content, and some major tweakings to the garrisons, like adding a cap on how often you could farm herbs, for example. A way that kind of made it thrust you out into the world for tasks every so often. Like maybe a 5 day lock out or something. No trade chat in garrisons, and no gold missions, because the economy got wrecked this expansion as well. To the point where 200 k these days is broke. With all that would have been perfect.

WoD was that one of the expansions i played from start to finish.. that expansion single handedly made me lose my motivation to play tbh.. maybe if all this was added, it would have been different

Most people don't know how much content or ideas gets cut from video games in general. WoD cuts look bad cause people weren't happy with the result, but every AAA games generally have that amount of content or ideas cut during production.

And the garrison never quite works because even though its fun to build, over time it gets the player isolated, and detached from the whole MMO aspect that has always been at the heart of WoW. I think the garrison idea may have worked better if it were tied to guilds in the form of guild halls instead of individual characters, because that would have allowed more community to exist within it. Along that same line of thought, what if guilds were enabled to renovate old raids/dungeons as their home base? The location would have a market & maintenance value like any piece of real-estate that the guild would be responsible for. But imagine for example, having a refurbished wing of Blackrock Depths as your guild hall? And your guild could even host pvp raids with other guilds there etc. The old Guildwars game pursued an idea like this, but i think lacked the engine to really take it to the level that WoW could if there were a vision for it.

You should definitely make a "cut content" series. This is ace! 😁😁 and heart-wrenching. Because, you know... wishing it was actually in-game. Hey, is it just me thinking that Blizz should update older expansions as well as the current one? I mean using older zones would be awesome and the old zones wouldn't feel so dead.

Knallbart Naaah, they shouldn't. 'Cause they would spend less time, money and effort on the current one then. Which means, we're already upset enough about the redundancy of WQs, the broken PvP system and the lack of creativity and difficulty of raids and tbh, cinematics that go along those

I'm especially pissed about the cut worgen/goblin model updates... Worgen need them badly, with most transmogs looking horrendous on them. And goblins are no better...

No, please no! The way that they have updated things like female dwarf appearances and hunter pets is so awful that I would stop playing WoW completely if they put their "touch" on the older expansions, too. (I mostly only do older stuff now.)

The EFFORT WENT with more than HALF the dev team who illegal broke contract with blizzard and quit mid-way through WoD to join EA or some other large gaming company as what was possibly an attempted form of corporate sabotage. That is why more than half the content for WoD was imagined but never made because that expansion mid-way through had like a handful of guys working on it after more than half the original team left halfway through development..

although i find your lore videos both interesting and entertaining (starting to get me lore curious actualy) I'd love to see you continue your serie of what to do with your fresh 110, in the form of what items do you think are mandatory for any questers/farmer or generaly QoL increase - for example the criket mount or the robot mount you mentioned in an earlier video (the one that let you pick up flower or mine without unmounting) potions that speeds gathering, useful toys (gliders...). Im sure tons of tips could be shared from veterans like you. Thanks again for your awesome work

Warlords of Draenor originally had a completely different story: Originally, Garrosh was banished to Outland after the trial, but he got some powerful artifact from the time walkers or something and brought in pieces of draenor from throughout the twisting nether and revived the old warlords.

I'll always be upset by the cut capital cities. TBC and WotlK each had a cool neutral capital city located conveniently, and MoP had two beautiful "rival" shrines right next to each other in the middle of the continent. WoD just had two boring camps that couldn't be reached by the enemy faction, that were far off the eastern coast of the continent, and that quickly became irrelevant because of garrisons. I don't get why Blizz felt the need to isolate everybody in WoD...

Garrison missions should have instead made you do quests all over the continent, so you wouldnt be in your garrison much

Pushing new expansion every year is imo too fast paced, expansion should last atleast 2 years or even more with steady updates like major patches etc.

I knew from the moment they announced the plan for 1yr xpacs that it would never work. They'd either have to rush content in a small window leaving the players exhausted and no time to enjoy any success they would have. Or, they'd have to release content at a normal rate, but significantly less content. Well, turns out the latter happened but it was stretched over 2yrs, making the xpac feel half assed. I also predicted this would be their business model the moment they hinted in MOP that there might not be flying in WOD.

@@darwinxavier3516 I agree, fast expansions have a positive and a negative, the positive being it retains people because it remains relevant..but the negative is that it lacks the proper development cycle. As MMO's age so do the needs of the player base, this increases development time, so unless you have a massive team working on everything you want in, then it's doomed to fail on a quick schedule.

MrMusicGuy1980 what are you guys talking about? The only expansion ever that came out only 1 year after the previous was Wrath. All other expansions have released roughly 2 years after the release of their predecessor.

There was seriously no reason for this expansion to be have been left "unfinished" or hindered by time constraints. Patch 5.4 (Siege of Orgrimmar) was the longest duration of content drought, clocking in at a staggering 14 months. If they used that time efficiently, as they rightfully should have done instead of watching sub counts drop, WoD could have been fearsome.

I know this is an old comment, but SoO whole duration was more fun than the last 3 expansions(granted my opinion)that should really open blizzard eyes that content drought of 14 months held a greater player base for longer than any of the last 3 expansions.

This just makes me so sad. I only started playing wow in 5.4 so WoD was my first full expansion and i followed the updates and news pretty closely and i just remember feeling really annoyed that we lost out on so much, it could have been amazing but it turned out so poor.

I hope that the guy who convinced rest of the Blizzard to go for the yearly expansions plan is getting same treatment as Bolvar did from Arthas. When you have to skip capital cities, 3 whole zones, most of the story, including final raid and whole raid tier because you want people to basically buy new game every year, you deserve to suffer for you greed. And if only they created more content for the zones they had, at least more than assault quests and few other dailies. Current 5 zones feel more alive than WoD would have felt even with 10 zones because instead of running between garrison and single quest locations you now travel around the content and see the conflicts going on everywhere and you can actually choose the ones you like. For example Nagrand felt really empty after main quest line and things like harbor in the southern part of the zone were barely even touched. If those locations had something going on from time to time, I would actually have reason to go there instead of masturbating in garrisons outdoor toilet

Two orc raids back to back is bad, but lets end the expansion with a Demon Raid, leading into a Demon Expansion.....makes no sense, and this is coming from a warlock player, aka a demon lover.

Also if they thought that just hear me out. Highmaul could have swapped places with the other raid thus going Orc, Ogre then Orc again. Storyline progression Blackhand is defeated causing a crushing blow to the Iron Horde they must now ally with an old enemy the Ogres. You could also draw this out. Instead of a massive raid it can easily be a tiered system in place. The entire raid takes place in one area the Arena. As the weeks progress we must turn the Ogres against the Iron Horde. To do so we must win favor by competing in the Arena. Over the course of an entire expansion we must do quests to unlock a new boss which comes with all fun new mechanics and mini bosses that drop gear too. Saving on the design of an whole raid but instead putting development into the raid bosses and encounters. It could be a new quest hub also use it as an instance like they did with Trial. All you gotta do is make Highmaul area the questing area. With loads of things to do.

I honestly don't think that Grommash was ever actually planned to be the final boss. I think that they said that just to throw people off. Because a second expansion with an Orc as the end boss I don't think would have gone over well, especially for Horde players.

*Olusegun Obasanjo* but does that really qualify? Arthas in WotLK is far less connected to humanity than the Forsaken are connected to the Scourge. As a Horde player, it seems that the nefarious evils within the human kingdoms is kept in a black box, while the evil components of the other races are made public in raid after raid & expac after expac. But then, with all the talk lately about Jaina being dopplegangered by a Dreadlord, maybe this is still coming down the tube..

Arthas is more connected to the forsakan than Azeroth humans he did nothing to the humans in azeroth but the forsakan would not even exist without him the forsakan and blood elfs both exist because of him the high elfs even renamed themselves blood elfs and the forsakan are from the same human kingdom as him non of the alliance races were effected by him in warcraft 3 since completlydifferent humans in it

Dude, there was so much cut off from WoD... it's like they didn't care about the expansion at all... WoD had so much potential if they would of put effort. I definitely would of loved to have seen a shat raid. Personally, Burning crusade was the best exp for me and I had high hopes for WoD since it's pretty much the same... the biggest blow was losing faralhon... ouch Blizzard... oh well

The problem is as those who built the game from the start leave, others come in and take it from a passion, to a job. Compare how much land mass and quests there were from Wotlk to Legion, you'll find a downward spiral.

Using landmass as an example is pretty wrong. Yes, Northrend was huge, but most of it was not used on max level and ended up empty. There was no depth to those zones, they were simply questing areas which you abandoned once you outleveled them. On the opposite, Legion was made with max level content in mind. All those zones are filled with quests and are used on max level, while also being small enough to make travel on ground mount bearable. And as someone who played both WotLK and Legion, I can say Legion attitude is much better. Why should we have huge empty zones when we can have small full zones? Also, how the hell do you know if people at Blizzard have passion for the game? You don´t work there and simply use one expansion with lot of unfinished/cut content (*cough* Vanilla *cough* no quests in Silithus *cough* no Karazhan raid *cough*) as an example of passion becoming job.

I love how they made the zones smaller but crammed them with stuff. That being said, I wish anti-flyers would realize that the illusion of a large immersive world they're afraid of losing is completely dependent on a total ignorance of how different quest areas are separated by a thin but clever façade.

Interesting thing, the churn rates on the expansions after WotLK: - Cataclysm meant a loss of 25% of their initial base subscribers (from 12M to 9M) - MoP lost 30% (10M down to 7M) - WoD lost 50% (10M to 5M!)

@@ToastPro83 Yes my friend pvp was officially killed in Legion. Wod had sick outdoor pvp. Possibly the most fun outdoor the game has ever had. Legion was straight up trash. Stat templates and 3 button classes. A hunter could kill you without moving a step if he had 3-5 ilvs on you. Fuck Legion.

Wow was never a pvp game because pve always came first it has been that way since classic no pvp content was even given to the game until over 6 months after classic wow came out. That is what happens when you let former everquest players make wow into another version of everquest but with warcraft character models they do not care about pvp that other blizzard games which is stuipid because it is WARcraft they should have expanded on doing better versions of battleground instead of doing arena as well so that class balance would not matter as much as well.

FlixX i remember seeing a blue on the official wow forums said that new goblin and worgen models are currently being worked on. It was said during 7.1 so I wouldn't expect them soon

worgen and goblins in Cata had 10 times more polygons that other models. why would they need upgrade? All playable races are on par with each other...minus undead...terrible model. Those bones don't look right at all

Cornelious Stradivarius polygon count =/= good looking model. At this point I would love if the worgen had their textures redone but it would be nice if Blizz could bulk them up a bit, every other redone race has a 6 pack and smooth curves to their model and worgen just look like skinny starved dogs. Not to mention the ugly ass boots and helmets they get.

Even though there is a lot in WoD that i really enjoyed, and i never seem to be able to break from it fully into Legion, at the same time the whole thing just doesn't fit together very well. It seems half realized. Ya, i think i agree that WoD was never actually finished.

There was obviously supposed to be a Shadowmoon raid as well. When that was scrapped, they put Nerzhul in the 5-man. You can still see where the raid entrance would have been near the Shadowmoon Burial Grounds.

Some of these are pretty inexcusable that they have yet to attempt them since. The idea of unique class accessories exists in a bastardized form of SOME Artifact weapons have similar flairs, (IE, the quiver for Marksman hunters) But the most glaring elephant in the room, is that 3 years later Goblins and Worgen still have no new racial models.

Blizzard's handling of WoW since the end of MoP has been abysmal. The garrison style gameplay (present in Legion as well) killed wow for me.

New to the channel, been binge watching it. Love the content bro. All I wanna say id that now that they are re-launching expansions, I hope they give WoD the love it deserved. I hope Blizz sees this. By the way, you missed the Laughing Skull village in Gorgrond which is full of NPCs but no quests or dialogue. I loved those crazy basterds and I would have loved to see more of them.

THe garrison idea was absolutely amazing, the problem was, that they dumbed it down so much, there were no customization options...absolutely nothing and thats why the feature failed. If they put work into it and released it at its completed state, it would have been great.

Agreed. I love my garrison, but i hate how limited it is for no good reason. Remember the three words they always say about real estate -"location! location! location!". I hate how my garrison can't be a common project shared among all my characters within that realm, each contributing something to it. I hate how isolated it left me because it was not integrated into my larger guild community. There is no reason why the garrison idea could not have been the revolutionary feature that it was doubtless intended to be at its inception.

Before the expansion itself, somewhere around the time garrison feature was announced, i was already dreaming and crafting plans about which zone my garrison will be in, my imagination was glowing bright...but when the actual expansion launched...after a short time i was sorely disappointed. :( I was really hoping for an awesome player housing.

''Revolutionary feature'' ROFLMAO... people were designing their own houses in everquest 2 since like 2004, and anyone in your guild could come visit... you could also integrate crafting areas in your house, and crafting wasn't just ''collect this then press a button'' it was actually really fun and engaging to craft shit in EQ2.

For WoW the feature was new, we are not talking about other games tho. Personally, despite its huge flaws and undeveloped state, i still like garrisons, at least from a role play perspective a bit, being the commander, having my own base, bolstering it, venturing into wilds of Draenor and finding followers along the way. But as i said, i would have given anything for an option to build the Garrison anywhere on Draenor....Gorgrond was my dream place to do it.

Yes, i am aware of the "house" you could build in Everquest2. It was described to me by players years ago, but never offered a sufficient lure. You have a house in the suburbs, just like every other house on your block. I think the Garrison was supposed to be a way of recognizing players for all the time, for many of us years, we had invested into the game, and would lure new players to WoW. It failed in that regard. The player is not left with a sense of true accomplishment -just another chore which will also be shared by the next alt, because the system loves an account wide closed community. Yes, i still love my Garrison, and as big a fail as the implementation of it was in WoD, it is an idea that should not be scrapped, imo. But i am unsure if WoW is the best platform for it. It requires big thinking to make it work, and WoW may be too matured, too set in it's identity to absorb that sort of addition. This is where the Art of the Deal comes in! :)

If you liked Wrath, you will like Legion. Very similar feeling and most people agree that it's heads and tails above the trash WOD was. Give it a try.

Legion is nothing like Wrath, though. In Wrath, we had choices, while in Legion we don't. Sheesh, we had 5 ways to get pve rep in Wrath and one of them was pvp! Legion is on rails and even professions require doing group content instead of farming like we used to do.

Ya, that is funny, but in some ways i'm in the same boat concerning WoD vs Legion. WoD had some great stuff planted, but it never capitalizes on its investment. It needed to follow through much bigger to do justice to what it starts. JMO. I do not agree with the posters who just dismiss WoD as a pile of crap. It wasn't! Some of it was amazing. But it was poorly developed, and in that sense fails, and falls into the category of disappointment.

I feel the same. I guess it's due to the fact that WoD was the first true major disappointment I felt in WoW, but I kept going in the hopes that Legion would be great. "it'll be over soon" I thought. But since Legion turned out to be barely above WoD, I've lost all interest and hope for the franchise, and quit 2 months after Legion's release. I tried again last month - I got bored in 3 days. If the next expansion turns out to be another one-trick-pony rehashed concept, I'm won't bother trying.

This was interesting! The only thing that I didn't like about it is that you kept saying that things were cut "due to time constraints." In reality, the devs kept saying that WoD was made with the biggest team ever and they had been working on it for years, so that doesn't really hold water. Otherwise, I'd love to see more videos like this. :)

Another awesome video :) Back when it was announced players could put garrisons where they wanted, I wanted to put mine in the area that would have been Netherstorm :( I loved that zone back in BC and was looking forward to seeing it in all it's not-purple glory. Instead, Horde got a hole in the ground surrounded by rocks, snow and lava...SAVAGE!!

+MadSeasonShow Great video man! You should make a cut video for each expansion, that would be awesome. Also another fun thing would be to get your take on a raid you would design for each expansion. What would it look like, what trash mobs would be present, and what bosses would be there, and what mechanics would they have. A little different from your informative videos, but would be neat to get your thoughts and ideas. :) Also if Blizzard came to you and said, "Madseason we love you so much that we want to put you in the game as a boss." Knowing this, what would you be and what would your mechanics consist of. :)

Well done video. Missed a few things I remember hearing about. Apparently someone found some scrapped dialog that hinted at Yrel being one of the Demonlord's daughter(Archimonde or Kil'jaeden) which would have explained why she even existed, considering without that story arc she's just some slave girl who turns into a paladin for reasons. More importantly, I remember blizzard claiming the original followers system would have played like a WC3 minigame. Basically a modern Shartuul's Transporter, where you'd earn a token for it once in a while and get to play a RTS minigame to try and earn rewards using your followers. Ill never forgive them for scrapping Karabor though. Draenei deserved to see their capital castle in all its glory.

great video! some things I knew, most I did not! you should do a video from each expansion! i knew stuff that was cut from WOD but i never knew this much! I only knew farhlon, garrison customization, and shattrah raid. The had many good ideas! I wouldve liked a new horde and alliance city (not the one outside ashran). And i can see how they thought about artifact weopns with the upgrade-able trinkets.

Love the content and quality of your vids. My only complaint is that you have a very monotone voice, with very little inflection, because of this, I'd suggest some kind of background music. Nothing big and loud, just something that adds a little variety to the audio side of things. Either way, great vid!
