i have the rank 14 system to thank for getting over my wow addiction and finally quitting wow. i was grinding honor points 12 to 13 hours a day 7 days a week for months just to keep my rank 12 in hopes to one day ill have enough honor to make it to rank 13. i loved my shadow priest, they were super deadly in classic, but by the time i finally got 13 and got close to 14, i never wanted to pvp again. i needed the gear badly especially since AQ was coming out and i needed to stay ahead of enemy players who were starting to out gear me, the only reason i did not grind harder was out of fear that Sleep Deprivation would impact my PVP performance, even then on my server there was a sort of rank 14 cartel, once you made it to rank 13 you had to await your turn while other who were ahead of you to get their rank 14, and if you tried to cut the line and get rank 14 before you were allowed to, you could say goodbye to ever being invited into a premade again, which would basically ban you from ever getting rank 14(mainly because you were then forced to do random teams with everyone else, which would have been fine except they paired randoms up against premade 90% of the time, and when this happed almost your entire team would give up on the spot). it also turns out when you put your life on pause for a month or 2 while you constantly grind honor inorder to get to rank 14, everything else in life you neglect, really starts to fall apart. i never made it to rank 14, but i was glad the new honor system came out in Burning Crucade because i finally got the Armor i grinded so hard to get

The only thing that made me play classic was a boost sale lol. I only wanted to raid 1 day a week with my friends and could not bother to experience the leveling again

I think, many people would agree that WoW has WAY TOO MANY versions now. Blizzard needs to cut it down. We got: Retail Classic Vanilla Classic Hardcore Classic with addon re-release (undermines Classic due to Cata release) Season of Discovery Pandaria Remix (other addons might follow?) Weird battle royal experiment It is just too much. I am playing WoW since vanilla and I do not always need new content every week. Many of us started playing Warcraft 3 as teenagers, then started playing WoW when we got out of school, having our first jobs in our early 20s. We are now adults, in our 30s, 40s, maybe even older. We don't have time to play a single game for 6hrs a day. And this is totally fine. The way I enjoy WoW the most at the moment is by just giving Blizzard my subscription money and then I just chill playing Retail and Classic Vanilla to relax and not just chasing the loot threadmill. Especially Classic Vanilla is so good to just enjoy the journey. I want to play for fun, not for frustration staying up to date with latest raid progress. There are people who do this, yes. But I don't think it's the majority of players. People wanna chill and just play the game at their own pace. Retail and Classic are the only versions we need. Just one oldschool Warcraft fan's thoughts about the current WoW situation.

I think one change to make the world feel more alive is to introduce a "Community Service" system. Basically every day there is a set of world quests in five old zones. Doing these quests rewards the usual current stuff. So players that are sick of the current expansion grind can return to an old zone and help out there.

Man I can't wait for the next WoW but honestly it was just the golden era where forums and social media wasn't all there to capture every detail and everything had a defined solution already found and catalogued. It had that sense of exploration and uncertainty - mystery and novelty rather than wiki'ing. God I miss old WoW and Guild Wars...

One thing I have to add with the social aspect of the game is that just because you are not actively typing in general chat looking for a group doesn't stop anyone from talking once that group is found in the finder.. Also you still would want to join a guild to do raid content and that usually is a very social experience. So I don't really get the gripe people have with that system, when if people are being anti-social it's not the system causing it but the individual not actively wanting it

Hey Madseason. I really love your videos and think this is an excellent pivot. I just want to quickly say that i feel your voice is too quiet compared to the audio/music. If you could lower it a bit, or raise the volume of your voice without changing your spoken volume (meaning dont try to speak louder, but possibly increase your volume digitally.) i think that would be great. Love you bud. EDIT: i think your timing and transitions are excellent, but i think your voice of music isnt really on your "brand". I think thats somewhere you should really experiment more and come up with your own style. I think it would make you stick out in a good way. Similar to your wow lore videos.

another thing that mmos face is also the economics. Selling a game and a subscription is no longer the best way to make money. Micro transactions is where it is now. Especially on mobile. I guess I commented a bit early in the video.

I haven't, but I'm sure Blizzard has. I hear they want to make class changes in so-called Classic Era now, a version of the game meant to be "vanilla." Why do they keep screwing up such a simple thing? Why do they never leave well enough alone? As it is now, they just need to merge servers to bring the population back up and make it playable again. My best moments in WOW were outside questing. Led a rp/pve guild, we had lots of fun organizing whacky events in Stormwind alongside other guilds. It was so lively and sometimes I still get myself into "if i came back would such or such still be there, how are they doing"? I never experienced this anywhere else. Now I flee from MMOs like plague except SWTOR because it has a great storyline and doesn't push to this "chore" thing, can play my own damn rythm.

People dont give the old world rework in CATA enough credit, it made thee leveling so much better and more interesting. Better pace, better storylines, better quest. also say what you want about WOD but that had some of the best raids and dungeons if other content wasnt so lacking it could have been great. I think part of the reason people stopped playing SOD for the time is also because nightmare incursions are literal trash content and Sucky Temple was just a god awful trash teir raid with terrible loot and bosses and so much go awful boring trash.( I hate sucky temple)

People misunderstand the fact that there's no real level progression. you can have a level 13 player in a group with a lvl 40 one and fight the same mob, damage it down the same way, at the same rate between the two players, facing the same level of threat. There are no levels involved here, the damage is percentages, no matter if it's from the players or the stuff they kill. anything that doesn't look as a percentage is just an arbitrary variable to make you think you're doing actual damage numbers. How will the same mob be just as much of a 'challenge' to two different players at two different levels and stages of the game at the same time?

SOD sucks, and if you had a brain in that skull you would know it was gonna have a massive drop off. Writing was on the wall since TBC re-release, but it was really clear in WOTLK because the devs that made wotlk awful are the same people behind SOD. I find all SOD players and shillers insufferable, and honestly nothing feels better than a big fat I told you so when I see it nose dive in players and sentiment in under a year.

I stopped interacting that much on MMOs because more often than not it grows to be toxic. The only time I got a 100% nice experience is when I made my own guild on WOW. It was an rp/pve guild set on a principle of recruiting only newcomers and help them learn the ropes to the condition they do the same afterwards with other newbies. We also organized open events sometimes. It made a great atmosphere and it was an awesome experience. Best gaming moments of my life. But way too time consuming when having a job lol.
