Thanks. I figured out why I was going though so much. Since this video its slowed to about half a qt in 1000 miles. I had a catch can hooked up to the breather tube, but the inlet and exit necked down so much it was causing excessive crankcase pressure pushing oil out. Once I removed it, the rate of losing oil dropped off like crazy. I guess we live and learn

Maybe, but not that much in my experience with checking it often. Never seen it go up the dip stick after letting it sit.

I had put on a catch can that didnt have enough venting creating some back pressure, I have a few bad seals still, so it was pushing it out those. Mainly the oil pan seal, tapper cover, and a little out the front main. Now with just a tube It still leaks because i have not changed out the oil pan gasket, but it's at a much more manageable rate, maybe half a qt over 1000 miles

The engine has a seperate sensor, intake air temp, that it uses for that, I can see it on my scan gauge. I also know it's working properly because the grid heater only comes on when it's cold and not every start. As for the cabin display yes, that's the only thing the ambient air temp is used for.

Kenwood Excelicon DMX706S is what I have in the truck. It doesnt have navigation directly, I use android auto and it pulls it from my phone. Just be aware, using a full size double din like I did requires cutting the dash core to make it fit, or just sliding it in until the core cracks... which is what I did by mistake. But it's in and it works, so whatever. Hope that helps.

Interesting, I wouldnt think it would because the converter is locked up in OD, usually it burns the clutches because of weak factory line pressure

@@AllThingsBoost factory or stock converter is not very good. It's the weakest point on the tranny, mostly due to it being small.

@@nicksteen884 makes sense. I originally thought you were commenting on the video I put out the other day on towing with the built transmission that's now in the truck. But I see this one was pre trans swap. On mine what failed first was the OD clutches, after going through some mountains compounded with a trans line leak it started slipping on me. During the tear down I did see the converter was a rebuild from 2019, and the trans was replaced in 06 I believe with low mialage one out of a 2000 truck. I'm just glad to have a trans that I don't need to worry about anymore, dodge really dropped the ball on the 47re components in stock form.

My understanding is you turn it off when towing up hills and such, but yeah, for the most part I keep it on, especially a relatively light load like this.

@@AllThingsBoost my trans is lightly built it’s at 145psi line pressure I let it lock up and floor it up hills even with weight behind.

Nothing to do with a video, old stock dodge ain't got the beans to maintain 75mph towing. I stayed at about 70 the majority of the trip. You get passed, I don't feel bad for truckers speeding
