Here’s a review of my Toyota Echo! Sorry for the engine noise while the hood was up. I know it may be tough to hear me.

I still fondly remember my 2000 Echo. She was a great car, a true and reliable friend.

We just bought a 2000 Echo with 340,000 miles on it, and it runs great; we're looking to put another 100,000+ miles on it. Also, you probably know this, but the under seat tray is where the owner's manual goes.

How is it so far
@Korina423 жыл бұрын
@@kapo_7100 It runs great (we love driving past gas stations), but the aftermarket trunk lock broke, and we can't open the trunk until the new lock gets here. The flange(?) that holds the cable to the lock broke, and the cable is all stretched out, so the driver side latch doesn't work either. ::facepalm::

@@Korina42 I’m thinking about buying one with 240,000. I’m wonder how is it going with all those miles on it?
@Korina422 жыл бұрын
@@devmister3736 The engine's fine, it just eats up highway miles with a tiny spoon. We're having issues with the trunk lock that broke, but we found a replacement online; the dashboard rattles, and the clock light has a short, but it's to be expected at it's age. Overall we're pleased with it.
@devmister37362 жыл бұрын
@@Korina42 How many miles do you have now? Any problems with the transmission or engine? It’s crazy how these 20 yr old cars can last.

Love all the storage space you have in front, genius! I have the Yaris from 2000, still runs great with 240.000 km. Had the engine light too, it was the MAF sensor, bought an electrical spray cleaner and sprayed the 2 very thin wires, dried it with a hair blower. Did that because it was kinda hesitating on acceleration. Now it's perfect. 5 minutes job!

Great video! I'm the original owner of a 2002 4 door sedan Echo. It's an automatic 4 door sedan, and it came with cruise control and a rear spoiler. Runs great with close to 390000 miles 🚗

I'm 6'1, so I was very happy when I heard you mention the extra space you have above your head. I'm going to be getting a 2000 two-door echo soon, I believe it has 118k miles on it. I haven't seen it in person yet but it seems like it'll be a good car after seeing this video.

😎🤔 I bought the 2001 Echo .. with 245000 miles on it.. it was owned by a family that towed it behind there Motorhome .. well maintained and clean as always the hood has chip damage but for $ 1500 and 35 plus to the gallon I parked my Caddie and drive this little JEM ... 😁😎

Nice!! I had an 03. Ironically I didn't like it but then fell in love and appreciated the quirky looks. The Echo had better mpg than the Yaris which I have now. I appreciate it now that I'm older.

wow mine is at 150,00 miles and not a single piece of rust out side of the vehicle. Amazing to see a 21 yr old car with NO RUST. My only concern is that it seems to eat a bit more gas than I thought it would. I've gotten a major tune up and changed all my fluids filters etc, new alternator battery is strong, radiator is flushed so not quite sure what the gas thing is about. I'm gonna try keeping it on full and see if that makes the gas last longer. Any ideas you have regarding that will be appreciated. My Cd and Tape player as well as all speakers work fine. Overall this is an AMAZING car. Just need a bit more room for the drivers leg room. bottom line - If you see this car guys GET IT!!! You''ll be glad you did!!!

Also mine came with a toyota security system - with a fob that opens and locks the doors. Only one of the door locks has to be manually locked. In the center of the cup holder area is a switch that locks and unlocks all of the doors - except the one door that has to be manually locked - the front passenger door. I've never seen a car this old that looks this good and everything works - except that one automatic lock I was telling you about it. Trunk is spacey and back seat is nice and roomy. I'm just over 6ft. I just need to know about how to make it get more gas mileage I have an automatic 2000, and what exactly does the security system do? Thank you for this video!!

I've owned two Echos a 2000 and a 2005 which is still my go about car. It has 135000 miles on it. I just replaced the alternator as that started to go. That was $$550.00 . Also had to replace the starter $250.00 Also the air conditioner unit which now overheats the vehicle so I don't use it.. That was $1700. Though it did last about five tears running constantly with the new replacement. I live in Hawaii. Also the engine mounts. That wa $1100.00 So a bit of money has been put into it. I have changed the oil about every three to four thousand miles. One thing I can say about both vehicles. I averaged 25mpg city and 29mpg highway. The car is a automatic four door and running the air conditioning has a lot to do with the mpg. Also the engine over time will shake which contributes to the engine mount wear over time. It's a comfortable vehicle even for a tall person I am 6 '5 " . It also has excellent all round visibility that's for sure. It is lightweight, nimble and rides beautifully and secure even at higher speed on the freeway. You can pick them up for a song used ofcourse and a little money put in will get and keep you going. The Yaris Toyotas replacement for the Echo if bought new today will have a Mazda engine ( sorry not foe me) and not half the unattractivenes that makes this car the Echo so attractive.

How do you get it inspected if the check engine light is on. In Virginia they won’t pass you until whatever is causing it is handled.

I found one on Craigslist for 600 and he said the engine light has been on for 100,000 miles.

Yeah its probably from the evap part of the exhaust system. Since they was more of a "environment friendly" type of car they had quite a bit of things for emissions and stuff and it messing up on alot of them and keeps the light on, but has nothing to do with the way the engine runs. I love mine!

its probably from the evap part of the exhaust system or the charcoal canister for the gas tank for the fuel fumes.
