How to fix and test your heater blower motor system if it is not working. In this case, the car needed a resistor. I used a power probe, and a test light to diagnose this. This particular resistor is the same for most 2001-2010 Chrysler Town & Country, Plymouth Grand Voyager, Dodge Grand Caravan, with manual HVAC controller, and also 2005-2007 Chrysler Pacifica. 2002 2003 2004 2006 2007 2008 2009 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10

Thank you sooo much for posting this video!! I had the exact problem and went for over a year without my front fan! After watching your video, I started troubleshooting the plug and wiring. It turns out my issue was only a bad, corroded connection on the black wire on the terminal block. THANK YOU!! GREAT VIDEO!!

Great video and I'm glad my motor is good- tested it with a small 12v battery jumped onto that 2 wire plug after taking it out, and the blower turned on, so it's my resister that needs replacement

I was dying when all the trash fell out of the glove box! I really enjoy your channel, I hope you keep getting subs! I've made sure to add your channel on mine, I hope others will see it. Power Probe is a great tool! More people should know about it, it saved me a LOT of time when I needed to check all the tail light wiring. You might even want to do a full video on the Power Probe, show how it can power up different things. This video was a good use for it. Thanks for sharing. Hope you had a good Christmas. There are a gazillion video's on power probes out there. I see it as a standard technician tool that is so common, it's not worth mentioning. Most regular people will not buy one, and you're not a technician if you don't have one.

Yeah, I agree. But if you were to make one, you'd put a good spin on it. I don't use mine a lot, but when I do, it's a great time saver and I'm all about that! My buddy is a new car tech, he should probably get one. It would make a nice birthday gift!

Maybe if I use it in enough video's, I will just cram them all together, so it looks like it is good for something.

Thermal fuse. They put it next to the resistor to make sure it doesn't get hot enough to catch something on fire. If resistor gets too hot it pops the fuse.

Hi, I bought my Caravan and it came with wind speed 4 not working. I replaced the blower motor resistor and it worked for less than 1 month, and speed 4 stopped working again, I thought the part I changed could be defective. Then I bought a new blower motor resistor and again in less than 3 weeks speed 4 stopped working. The other speeds work normally. Any suggestions as to what could be causing speed 4 to stop working? Thanks
@RustBeltAuto
@RustBeltAuto 3 жыл бұрын
High speed doesn't use the resistor. It is a 12v supply. Is your harness, or connector burnt, or looking like it got hot? Wiggle test connector? I don't know.

Since I have no power coming into or out of my resistor, what would that mean? All my fuses and relays are good. I even put in a new resistor. But I'm getting no power apparently, to my resistor. I used a test light to probe my new resistor and wiring. It would seem I'm getting no power to my resistor.

So the plug resisted the power, thus beingoverthown by the resistor? Ill have to rewatch the video p
@RustBeltAuto
@RustBeltAuto 3 жыл бұрын
@@yorkfirepulse8724 it depends. 1. It's a resistor. Resistors make heat. Heat melts things. The blower motor blows air onto it to cool it down. It doesn't always work as good as it should. 2. High amperage, and loose connections make resistance, connections in general make resistance, creating heat. 3. Technically a failing blower motor can create over amperage, creating resistance in wires, and resistors that cannot support it. Just replace the connector, and resistor. If you want to test the current after, see if it gets hot after running it for a period of time, and check your ground have at it.

I don't think that's a diode. I pulled mine out and the numbers on it track to a thermal fuse. Mine showed an open circuit both ways. I found one on Amazon smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0115D709O/ref=ox_sc_mini_detail?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2QJE0ZA90KWTL. $6 for 5 fuses not much savings compared to an all new resistor block, but satisfying if you're a fixit junky. Thanks for the good info on where to look and what to look for.

I wish I could find a mechanic that knows the difference btwn a resistor/module so I can get my ac/heat fixed🤔
@RustBeltAuto
@RustBeltAuto 4 жыл бұрын
What? Basically, a resistor reduces voltage, and a module reduces amperage. A motor that requires a module, basically soaks up as much power, as you can give it, until a fuse blows, unless it runs on a duty cycle to lower the current flow going into it. Correct me if I'm wrong. Is this a trick question?
@bigmama72.
@bigmama72. 4 жыл бұрын
@@RustBeltAuto it's not a truck question. My air/heat went out @ the same time & my mechanic says it's a part that goes in the front dashboard. He said I needed to replace (08 Dodge Grand Caravan) the resister.
