If somebody had told me there is a 20 minute, 55 second video on brake pads that would keep my attention and not get boring I would have suggested they visit a psych ward. But I would have to apologize to them because this is ABSOLUTELY the best how-to video I have ever seen. I have a feeling Jon Olson could explain the federal tax code in an understandable way.

Just changed the front/rear pads/rotors on a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan and watched several videos describing the process. Very thankful to them for posting but this video is by far and away the best one I've seen. It took me half the time to understand the entire process. Great video! Only thing I would add is smear a little anti-seize on the back of the pads and where metal comes in contact with metal to prevent rust and quiet brakes.

There are many great things about this video, and one of them includes being able to watch how it’s done. I don’t plan to do it myself, mostly because I’m extremely allergic to petroleum by-products, but makes me feel better about saving my money to get the work done by a pro.

I also take out the slider pins and clean them up since i have everything off, and i use the ford silicone grease to put on the hardware where the pads sit on and the ends of the brake pads so everything sides back and forth nice, less chance of squeaking.

When I put the rotor back on I put a couple of lug nuts on hand tight so the rotor isn't flopping around when I put things back together.

How easy should the axle spin after install? Mine seems pretty firm. Need two hands to spin the lug screws around. I replaced the caliper and the rotors. Is the rotor warped? I set the caliper pistons back to flush.

You can usually tell that your brakes are low and in need of service without taking off your wheel. If you're low on brake fluid or you've had to add any over the past year and don't have a brake fluid leak.

I have the exact truck and experiencing some problems I was hoping you might be able to shed some light on. truck turns off while at low idle but will crank right up. while driving at slower speeds and up a hill when I release the gas the RPM's drop to about 500 and the dashboard lights and my headlights dim a little bit and will go back to normal once I press the gas pedal and get rpms back up. I also watched your video on the Amsoil throttle body cleaner. when I undo my air filter from the throttle body and crank my truck up it will run for about 2 or 3 seconds and then shut off, every time. at red lights or stop signs I have to put it in neutral and rev the truck up a little just to keep it running. the battery doesn't seem to be weak...although it is probably time to get a new one. I appreciate the help.

99% correct, only things I saw, was open the bleader valve when pushing pistons back into caliper(if not your pushing potential dirt and etc back into system) and clean brackets befor so as to not have to clean rotors over and over. But thumbs up and great video. Thank u

if you were going to bleed the brakes on this truck, what is the correct order to do so? I have to replace one of my calipers. thanks.

The one major issue this video doesn't cover is the fact that 97-04 F-150 models may have different rotor assemblies. For instance, my 2000 4.6l v8 requires replacing a one piece rotor and hub assembly and the bearings, races and seals. So you may want to add that caveat, as it makes the job a tiny bit more complicated, also more expensive (though still less so than going to a mechanic).

Hello, At 11:00 mark the two bolts. I had a mishap with my truck and I am now missing one of these bolts. I would like to confirm that 2001 Ford F150 Brake Caliper Carrier Bolt Brand Genuine SKU W0133-2124472 from Parts Geek, is a correct replacement. It is hard to find and confirm with anyone quickly.

What are the torque specs for mounting everything back to place.

I do prefer to clean the mounting bracket off the vehicle. I get a better angle on the intricate areas.

Since you are replacing the rotors, why not just tap them off with a lump hammer?

Oh yeah, you forgot to clean and grease the pins. I like to clean them up and use a nice weiner grease.
