3rd in a series of videos documenting replacing parts on a Golf and probably other VW platforms.
This shows changing inner tie rods and includes some great tips not mentioned in other videos I've watched

I learnt a lesson in not trusting garages a long time ago. If they give you advice, check it like you did before ordering parts. I’m currently doing the same job as the threads are gone on the outer so I can’t get the tracking right. Great video for anyone attempting it

Removing outer tie rod would make life easier

Best video I've seen on this subject. No fancy big long specialty tool for loosening the inner. Did you secure the dust boot via zip ties or did you use oetiker clamps? Thanks again for a properly clear video

I just replaced a lot of components on my golf (sub frame, shocks / springs, lower control arm, lower ball joint and the track rod ends etc..) I managed to get everything on but the track rod ends required some heat. I took the car the next day to get the tracking done and he said he couldn't get it to rotate but I'm sure it does! My inner tie rods are corroded to hell so will just replace them aswell I guess. Bloody kwik fit!

I had the same thing. Changed the outer ends, but the garage said they couldn't do the tracking..in the end, I had to get the inner ones freed up and eventually changed. Nice one for doing it yourself! 👏

@@TonysGarage_UK you know thinking about it today I recon the only issue was that the rubber boot was seized on and instead of telling me to which I could of said just cut them and I will go get some new ones he just told me it was seized. Proceeded to say that my shocks were installed incorrectly because the ride hight was too high. Measured that and it's bang on what they come out of vw with. Worst attitude ever this guy had. Would rather walk than go to kwik fit again.

Yep, I take my hat off to you, for having a go at it yourself! It's bad when you get professionals like that
