I need to thank you a shit ton for your videos!!! I just was able to replace my resistor and my acuator tonight just on your videos and not spend a ton of money on labor at a shop! It took me a while because of how damn small the space is to get to them but I did it! As a female and being able to replace it myself with no help I have officially decided to drink a beer to cheers myself ha!

I have a 2006 ford explorer/ 4DR 4WD XLT. When purchased the truck used the lowest setting did nothing, a year later, now my 2nd setting up stopped working as well. The 3rd and 4th worked, but too high for me all the time. I watched this video and it gave me the information I needed to do the repair myself. Yes mine 4WD had a module in the way, luckily or by design I only had to remove 1 screw in the bottom of the front bracket. There was not 1 on the back side (thank you) because I would of had a lot of trouble trying to get to it. The back of the bracket hinged out of the back where it is held and out. Note: On the resistor mount screws I had trouble accessing the top left screw do to plastic molding in the area. You will need and extender rod to access it with ease. Note: I first removed the glove compartment; push the 2 sided in and then move out, remove the 4 screws and it is off, making easy access from top and bottom. My results 40 minutes later was a working blower on all settings. I also found out the ac when on high ac worked on all the settings too. Prior it only blew high with no change on the setting. This now makes sense to me. Thank you for this video and hope my info will also help.

My 2006, 4X4 Explorer does have identical symptoms and the appearance of the components seems identical as well. My concern is that the instructions specifically state that they are for models through 2005 only. In fact, I can't find procedures for a 2006 at all. Should I attempt it? Will the part not work? Is something different? ???

Sir: here is a problem that has me stumped. 2001 Expedition, Eddie Bauer. The blower motor stayed on the other night with the engine off and key out of the ignition. By morning the battery was dead. It was as if the relay was stuck, so I replaced the relay. But problem happened again tonight. So I removed the new relay, as power for the blower motor goes thru the relay. But the blower motor was still on with the relay removed. Where is the power coming from? Appreciate any ideas.

@FordTechMakuloco8 жыл бұрын
+red0means0go yours is under the hood below and to the right of the blower motor. Be sure to check the connector they like to corrode and burn up on these.

The front blower only works on 4, all other components seem to work ok, except that when I adjust the temperature, there is a knocking sound for a few seconds while it seems to be adjusting. I have a 2004 and I'm having a similar issue with the speed selector, 1 & 2 don't work, 3 & 4 do. I'll have to get my hands on one of those boards. I do have another issue with the air flow selector, it does not direct the air to the floor or the defrost, it only goes to the cabin, what could be the reason for that?
@FordTechMakuloco8 жыл бұрын
+Aaron Taylor Yeah for your concern the you still need the board. If you have airflow issues the vacuum motors have a tendency to break of at the pivot shaft for the mode doors. Open the glove box and look to the left to check the linkage.
@ataylor748 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I'll check that.
@ataylor748 жыл бұрын
+FordTechMakuloco success... well sort of... I changed out the resistor board and that solved the fan speed issue. I opened up the glovebox an watched the actuators cycle thru as I changed the air flow positioner but it still is not blowing on the floor or defrost, just the main cabin. Not really sure what else to look for. I followed the vacuum lines into the engine compartment and I didn't see any tares in the lines there and it looks like all the other lines are connected so I'm at a loss. Any other suggestions?
@FordTechMakuloco8 жыл бұрын
Ok so lets concentrate on the floor motor it is under the dash center right by the vacuum manifold the motor and rod will be ok but the plastic door pivot will be broken you need to pull out the one screw for the shield to see the connection to the plastic pivot.

I have an 2002 Ford Explorer and I am experiencing intermittent blower failure. It will always blow to the defrosters but it only blows in the dash board/under the radio when it wants too. Would this be the resistor card also?

On my 4th one. Replaced blower motor and they still keep blowing. Fortunately the auto store replaced the first one 3 times for free. Now I'm buying mine on ebay for 1/3rd the price. Thinking about bypassing it somehow so I don't have to keep buying them. Easy to replace but cannot figure out why they keep blowing.

I've got an 04 explorer xls. My AC blows out of the defroster on the dash and my air vents. It's hard to drive with this issue because I live in South Florida and it's super humid. When I drive, the wipers fog up. I don't get full power on the vents because of this. Do you know what part I would have to change?
@FordTechMakuloco7 жыл бұрын
Your mode door is broken either internally or the lever externally. You can lower the glove box and look to your left for broken arms or dangling levers.
@jetta.josh47 жыл бұрын
+FordTechMakuloco I took off the glove box but didn't notice anything. I did feel air circulating though.

Just ordered the resister, I have a 02 ford explorer. My other issue is when the blower motor is running and I try switching the position for vents it really only comes out of defrost and by your feet faintly. Any ideas there?
@thebandit82592 жыл бұрын
I have a manual HVAC, I replaced the blend door, actuator what a pain. Then the vent issue started to occur about a month into winter this year. Just came across this video and noticed that my air speed definitely is affected but my main issue is vents not blowing fully , if at all on other vent settings.
@thebandit82592 жыл бұрын
To be more exact. I can put the air setting to 4 and it comes out to a degree on defrost and some out the feet as well. But on all other settings it's just as if the blower motor is running and not sending the air to any specific spot besides warming up the dash. I'd really like to communicate more as I have a few other issues needing to be addressed. Thanks!!

I have an'07 Fusion that every couple of months the blower fan shuts off for a couple of seconds - speed setting has no effect on the problem - this might happen a few times then it's fine. It's so intermittent It's not a big problem, just strange.

on my 2008 it is easy to get to by dropping (not removing) the glove box by squeezing the sides. Then a 8mm socket on an extension got both screws out. Then reach underneath and disconnect the wire. It sits against the firewall

Ok so what if at first 1,2,&3 weren't working and now its not even working on 4? Are you saying that because it no longer even works on 4 that the problem must be something else because you said something about using it on 4 by-passes the resistor card, didn't you?

I am having problem with my 2002 explorer on the position dial, it seems to always blow straight at you even when you put it on full defroster, do you have a video dealing with the position dial?

No I don't those are known for broken doors, but hopefully the vacuum motor is just not working. Pull down the glove box and look inside to the left there should be 2 silver vacuum motors One is likely not connected to the door anymore. You will see.
