I got a 2005 CR-V EX in silver a year ago myself! Love your vids! I've been changing out all the fluids for the first time (I'm at 100k miles). Going to put Polk 2-way speakers in and replace all the power lock actuators tomorrow. Did the back hatch actuator and the power steering refresh (took 6 times!) today.

Thanks for posting this. I just installed a Sony XAV-AX1000 into a 2004 Honda CR-V. I had the same Metra kit and it is too loose around the stereo (looks like you had the opposite problem, which has a cleaner fix). I'm gonna add some black foam tape in the gaps and call it good. Also, to get the factory sheet metal brackets to fit I had to grind off a tiny dimple on each bracket. Once the dimple was gone the screw holes aligned perfectly. Still need to do the back up camera and I'll reference your other video for that.

Rock Auto lists lines of Double DIN replacement KITS for this including Jensen and Boss, with the backup camera input. I just got my daughter a 2006 CR-V, so looking seriously at this option.

Would’ve been helpful to see how you ran that USB cable into the lower compartment and how you plan to run another into the glove box. Same for the backup cam video-would be nice to see how exactly to run it under/behind the dash to get it to the back of the stereo unit. That being said-backup cam vid definitely helped me cable from the rear on up to the front. Thank you!

Thanks for the video. Do you have steering wheel controls and did you manage to get them to work?

At 8:15 you are moving the blue wire to the other location to connect to the factory steering wheel control. Came to this conclusion myself, but found that the blue wire/pin was too wide to fit in the connector in the relocated position. I instead cut the factory wire short of the connector and soldered it to the SWC adapter. Did you file down the blue wire pin to make it work?

Did you use a fascia kit to bolt the head unit in? If doesn't look like it other then the face, I've got N 03 with a single din radio and want to put in a double din bit unsure if I need a fascia kit

An easier way to for trim with that small gap would’ve been to run a small bead of black caulk around the radio to seal that. Would conceal it just fine and you’d have to really look hard to botice

Got the 2005 CR-V like yours & I am lost about the Radio Steering Wheel Control (7:37) features. So I got a Seicane (no supports, no correct hardware/plugs, no manual: don't buy like your Pumpkin) radio. There is a 20 pin connectors (Blue Plug 20:39), which pin or wire should I pull out and attached (I will solder it to Seicane radio) it to the new radio to still be able to use the Radio Steering Wheel Control? Again, I do not have those wire hardness adapters like you. I will solder all those wires and heat shrink them.

That installed my backup camera on my Honda CR-V , left the camera attached on top of the license plates, know I’m sure as you may think- when I reverse I have a hard time because is giving me a not so accurate angle to back up, and very easy I can get in an incident. 5:01 Leave Tab "H" and "C" on the trim piece if you dont want to cut and use a dremel. I used the Metra instructions and it didnt work. I later recieved the Crutchfield instructions are diff. They tell you to remove the factory brackets from the stock radio and install on aftermarket radio. Then open the Metra Kit and grab the trim piece. Throw the rest of the kit away as the trim piece will be all you use. Then remove all tabs EXCEPT "C" and "H". After foing this the trim piece fit perfect. I have notified Metra of this and they sent it to their engineers.

Soon as you said Chinese crap android stereo, I was going to comment it will break in a week but, you found out sooner! A chinese manufacturer wanted to send me a free stereo and make an install video, I gave them middle finger response...lol

So I got mine installed professionally…and the installer trimmed off the top clips of the frame, and it’s flipping out from the top, and very annoying. I’m afraid to add glue dots on the edges because it might get messy and hard to remove without breaking, if it came to that. Do you have any suggestions?

You are a glutton for punishment. I did a similar job on a 2004 CRV; installing a blind spot alert sensor. Went thro most of the steps you did. Trust me never again. Pulling all those panels.Never again. Enjoy the new radio/GPS.
