Oh that's a steal! We bought a 2006 XLE for a little over $7,000 with 159k two and a half years ago. It now has 210k miles and has never left us stranded. The only problem is the air conditioning but it makes sense, it's somewhat of an old car so that is to be expected.

Your video randomly popped up in my KZfaq feed. I've got a heavy equipment and trucking business with farming somewhere in there. I'm up north of Helen Georgia. I've got a bazillion trucks, vans, cars, machines, motorcycles...etc. Barring our only choice of USA made work trucks and vans and old classic USA cars...I'm done with domestic vehicles. Done. Made my gf dump her ford escape eco boost awd suv for a 2016 Corolla. For Xmas, got her a second car: 2000 Avalon with bench seat and NO SUNROOF. Supposedly had something wrong with it (valve cover leaks and misfire). I out front brake pads on jt and two tires. At Xmas, the preacher and daughter who owned the Avalon just wanted to poor mouth it at their church to get a new car gifted to them. I siezed on their scheme and snagged the car for literally nothing. Slickest used car I've ever gotten! Like a fckn dream. But that missfire? It has 190k miles on it. Scan code says lean bank 1 and knock sensor. I think it's a vacuum leak. I should let you guys diagnose it, possible fix it if it's just a vacuum line (it acts like the vacuum pod isn't opening butterflies intermittently) and make a small video of how GREAT this car is. Omg it's so good. Love the channel! * we aren't helping the market availability with teaching others how good these older Toyotas are.... it should be secret 🤫

03 SE V6 3.0liter AT, cloth charcoal seats and interior w/metallic accents, spoiler- great body style. Bought it new back then and still driving it w/240kmi - installed a hitch- i can do a ton with this thing. MPG's really aren't bad, have gotten up to 33mpg's on hwy w/easy driving. 210hp is nice. No problems w/engine or tranny. Love the smooth power and ride, spacious interior, cruising w/the big sunroof open. Very satisfied- would buy another one. Just got done changing the motor mounts - the front one is an active mount- pricey part, but is part of the reason for the smoothness, i believe.

My research: The transmission fluid needs 1 quart of ATF drained & refilled every 30k. Buy good brand water pump. Buy a Denso 221-0506 radiator rated for towing off Amazon . Inspect water pump monthly & have the better designed pump in your trunk ready. Your 2.4 L is going to have head gasket- like leak around 100K. The strong towing radiator will withstand said head gasket gases going into cooling system. Also, unscrew the reservoir cap so gases can escape thru there. Been driving this way for 40K when the owner was told she needed a new engine at dealership at 135K. It's now at 179K as daily driver. Still strong AC with original stock parts.

I got a 05 2.4 LE that came on trade at my work with true mileage unknown on the carfax. With the math and odo which has been swapped it has around 255k. It does burn some oil, I put 4 tires on it. I’ve put about 10k on it since I bought it and it has developed a timing chain tensioner noise. I’m getting the chains and full motor and trans mounts done on it and I cannot wait. I’ve cleaned it up quite a bit and love it. I agree with everything this video says I rave about the car all the time. It just does everything so well.

When I see a shiny minty Camry or corolla I see an 80s Mercedes. Just as the luxury and prestige in an old 300d was manifested in the sheer quality of construction and engineering, I believe toyota is no different. The Toyota oil consumption problem began in the 2006 model year, I believe. Toyota engineers switched to low-tension piston rings and 'thinner' oil in an effort to slightly boost performance, ie mileage. This worked, but the lower pressure exerted on the cylinder walls meant they could not control the oil any more . Hence the oil burning. This is a well understood phenomenon, and it was a major embarrassment for Toyota. They SHOULD be embarrassed. Only customers who screamed the loudest ever received new pistons and rings under warranty. Everyone else was left carrying bottles of motor oil wherever they went. Like most modern engines, run them low and they're toast, so they require constant monitoring.

I preach it to those that just need reliable cheap transportation. Although a good condition 1999-2001 Camry is the best they are getting scarce with low miles and no rust. The cut year on low tension rings was 2007 on the 2.4L engine. 2006 is the last 2.4 youd want to buy. Love the video keep doing what you're doing it's definitely helping people I'm sure 👍

I've got the Toyota Camry XLE V6 and it's amazing. Almost 224,000 miles and only minor easy fixes besides oil changes and tires. Thought it was kinda weird when he said the v6's get 20. I've had my Camry V6 for almost 3 years and the lowest I've seen the average is 26 mpg. 30 mpg was the highest I've seen it as well so I would count the v6 as a gas guzzler. They can be pretty efficient as well.

I have an 02 LE with the manual transmission, it is an absolute joy to drive and it burns oil. 180k on the clock and I'm going to bury it lol. About a month ago I bought a 2004 Camry XLE for $700. Very nice interior and really everything about the car. The catch is it had a blown head gasket and when I took the engine apart it apparently pulled the threads on the back three head bolts. It overheated and I looked online and apparently it’s a little more common with the 2AZ-FE’s then I initially thought. I fixed the issue with a Timesert kit and threw new parts at anything I see wrong, timing chain, tensioners, all new top end gaskets, etc. it runs and drives great now and I only spent about $2000 on the whole car including the price I bought it for. The problem with the head bolts pulling is the entire engine is aluminum with torque to yield head bolts. If it happens to overheat for some reason the threads are thin and stretch. It could happen to any of the ten bolts but is most common on the rear center three on the intake manifold side.

I have the same year vehicle with the v six engin There's 2 gripes I have about your video. You should have took care of the temple in the bumper. Left rear before filming presentation means a lot and number 2. You can get the key fives and go through the open up. The door turn it on the Ignition, open up the door twice. Turn on the Ignition, okay to have yourself some key 5 to automatically open your doors and your trunk. That's all

The 2AZFE motor had oil consumption issues, but Toyota had recalls to fix them all. I enjoy my 2012 9.0 RS Scion xB with the same motor.

Toyota guy here if you change the valve cover gasket. It usually will fix the oil burning. Not an exact science and I’m not a wrench. Just saying it worked for me after many KZfaq tutorials 😂😂 love cars love Toyotas cheers

This is the engine that has the blown head gasket/loose head bolt problem. I understand it's really common on high mileage Camrys, although I bought one for my daughter several years ago that now has 265K miles and it hasn't blown yet.

It’s the valve seals not the piston rings that allow oil to go into the combustion chamber. When you start them it throws smoke out the tailpipe. This is only on cold starts. It also does happen on low mileage ones as it did it on my 2003 with 79k miles, 2003 with 115k miles and currently on our 2005 with 100k miles. Only on one of them was the smoke from exhaust really noticeable. Neither one burned enough oil between oil changes to have to add oil. They are also the most reliable of my cars and required ZERO repairs. Two of them driven to 200k miles then sold running good and current one zero repairs at 104k miles.

i have an 05 Camry too that was given to me by my late Uncle, it only has 65k miles. I missed an opportunity to buy the factory aero kit and BBS wheels from a limited edition 06. It was a junker but the kit and the wheels were decent, tt got towed to the junkyard the next day before i could strip the parts off of it. 🙄😞

Some trim level corrections: -There is no CE trim level on the 5th gen. - LE was the base model until the Base was introduced during mid-cycle facelift. - You could get the V6 in the LE models.

You CAN do appliance delivery or whatever with a Camry, simply put a trailer hitch on it. That's what I did with my Solara.

I love this gen Camry and I know way, way to much about this gen Camry as far as trims, colors, options, etc. With that being said, I only know the Midwest Region Camry's so all of what I say here is from the Midwest Region. This gen did offer a V6 in LE trim. I actually have one, a 2005 LE V6 and it was it's own model during this gen. The main difference between the LE 4 and the LE V6 was of course options, but the LE 4 had drum brakes in the rear and the V6 has disc brakes in the rear, and the V6 had an engine immobilizer. There were no Camry CE's in this gen (the CE ended in 2001) the base model was either called the "base" or "Standard". The main difference between a "base" and the "LE" is that the base had no power seat, no power windows, no keyless entry, and the non powered outside mirrors were black instead of body color. All colors were available for all models. You could get any model with a 5 speed manual transmission except the XLE, and LE V6. No V6 was offered in a manual during this gen. Most people opted for the V6 simply because the engine is smoother and had extra power if it was needed. There were 2 V6 options only the SE got the 3.3 and the LE V6 and XLE trim got the 3.0 liter V6. The color of the Camry in the video was called Sky Blue with stone leather interior. It looks like it had the JBL without the 6 disc in dash changer. This is by far my favorite gen Camry and I have had 2 of them, a 2004 LE with the 2.4 auto in Lunar Mist with cloth, and my current black 2005 LE V6.

The LE was available with a V6. IMO, in this generation (and the one that followed), you want the V6. It's much more reliable than the 4 cylinder engine, and you don't get much of an MPG deficit over the 4 cylinder models.
