You provided endless useful information - thank you.. I hope your doing well, I will be praying for you and your health.. I have one question.. I have a 4.7, 2005 RAM that threw two rocker arms then sent one lash adjuster though the valve cover and breaking the hole in the head where the lash adjuster (lifter) seats into the head.. The engine was actually running after this occurred, roughly of course but running.. I have the engines torn down to the heads and was considering simply replacing the heads and timing set.. Should I be looking at anything else??

Thank you. It would probably fly be a good idea to change out the intake manifold as well. If you buy remanufactured heads, they usually wont warranty them if you dont replace the intake manifold. The reason being if any small fragment got sucked in there when the engine failed, it could likely wind up back in your engine and cause further damage. I dont blame you if you dont want to do that. New intake manifolds run around $400+. If you don't, really really make sure you clean it out well, blow air though it, etc before reinstalling

Thanks a lot for the info. and easy-to-watch format of the video, good luck with your fight against cancer man, sorry for the diagnosis. "Ask not what disease the person has, but rather what person the disease has” -William Osler Btw I'm having one issue blocking me from finishing my engine swap/rebuild [rebuild since I had to change the 16-tooth reluctor wheel on the crankshaft to a 32-tooth, also the sprocket on one of the camshafts to match my old engine's and computer] . When I torque down my camshaft onto the rocker arms and lifters, it's all but impossible to turn! Very hard to turn and idk why: valve stem issue? Lifters? Some invisible wedge creating more resistance between the camshaft and rocker arms? Do you have any insight? I've been everywhere on the web and can't find the solution.

Do you buy a rebuild kit? I can’t seem to find one that’s fair priced. The ones that are are out of stock. I have a 04 Jeep GC Overland 4.7L HO

Try this link. Biggest thing to be aware of when looking at rebuild kits is making sure that the vin number matches yours. This is for vin J. rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F192686438102

Did you have any problems with the camshaft sensor I just did a whole rebuild on my truck same engine with 40 over pistons I did everything to the book and when I tried to start it it would crank but not start the timing chain is exactly how it needed to be compression is good it’s getting spark, getting gas to fuel rails, got a new pcm, checked the wiering harness and it’ still will not turn over

It keeps throwing a cam sensor code I’ve change the sensor and made sure it was getting the right voltage, all grounds are connected and sensors are plugged in I am at a dead end if you can think of anything that would be greatly appreciated

Yes, actually ran into the same issue. Unfortunately I could not find the source of the problem

@@bhadass1099 You ever figure this one out?

@@Loonypapa Check the tone wheel on the passenger side camshaft. Different ones for different years, mismatch will cause a no start.

Same issue mine was having but it turned out I had no spark signal due to having a 16-tooth reluctor wheel instead of 32-tooth on the crankshaft (crankshaft sensor code P0335) and for some reason I didn't get the cam code. After changing the tone wheel on the camshaft did it start-up?

i think for many yes, go ahead and buy a reman engine. I picked up a running 4.7 for 250$ (with all accessories). It will take me about 850-900$ to rebuild it, including machine work(just having heads cleaned and decked. I will hone it myself(couple hours of work). then slap it together, im leaving the mains and crank alone. New everything else pretty much. It runs about 2700-3000$ for a rebuild.(stripped, included shipping and core). Most cores are junk, spend 300$ to get 395$ back? net 100 core? they rebuild typically with the cheapest of the cheap replacement parts. Not so sure about that. I am questionable about engine tech parts.. They source from wherevery they can get. I'm getting pretty quick at building engines so it not so bad.
