Yes. I found mine on Ebay. Came with everything muffler to tail pipes.

I've got a 2004 Dakota with a Flowmaster. It was on the truck when I bought it in 2008. Its a small muffler and doesn't look like anything other than the muffler was modified. It has the tailpipe exiting the normal side location. Sounds really good, yet its not annoying. Sounds almost like dual exhaust. I think the biggest thing with the sound of these engines as well as the performance all lies in the firing order they chosen to use when the engineers built the engine.

The one mistake I made was putting in the pre assembled heads without having a machine shop check specs first. Better off just getting new heads (if needed) and having a machine shop install the valves and springs. The pre assembled valves tend to be garbage.

@@MechanicalMike Really? what specs do you think are out and/or need checking? I reused my valves after lapping them all in their original locations and put new stem seals in. I'm installing the heads back on the block today and I'll check compression after I get the timing set put back together.

You'll get it bro. Everyone starts somewhere. I've rebuilt 100+ engines but even I was terrified on my first build. Sweating bullets right before the first start.

Mechanical Mike I am a mechanic myself always working on somebody else's stuff but mine I have a 03 ram 1500 with a 4.7l 175000 miles I need head gaskets timing kit and every other gasket lol I was wondering what internal brand of parts did you use and how are they holding up

Wasn't planning on a full rebuild, just head replacement. Then I saw the extent of the damage once I opened it up.

The tolerances are so minimal on these engines that modding may be pretty difficult. However, you can mod just about anything if you really want to.

⁠@@MechanicalMike Hey Mike, the big question is … was it worth it? I have an 04 Dakota 4x4 I need to do the same thing, was thinking about getting another 4.7 rebuilding it and swap it.

I never added it up, but all said and done, I could have bought a remanufactured engine for less, and if I did it again, I would go that route.

I don't think you can use 2008 cams because of the tone ring difference.
