2002 Honda Accord V6 Will Not Start/ Fuel Pump Relay (Here Is The Quick Fix!)

Guys here is the quick fix for Honda's that will not start. Is was the fuel pump relay for this car. The problem was is would start sometime and sometime it would not. But now it does not start at all. I replaced the fuel pump and that did not fit the problem. So, I try the fuel pump relay and that worked. So, I hope that help.
The fuel relay listed below will work. It's just a different brand name part.

Life saver . I replaced the fuel pump twice and all the switches and I took this piece off. Slapped a new one and started like it never had issues . Thanks a lot

The best video on how to do it I had a really hard time with it ! I also changed ignition switch I don’t know if I needed it? Very nice and explanatory man ! It’s been about 5 years ago. I’m still fixing it and driving it , maintaining is the key . Thank you very much. I’ve learned a lot!

And Yet again, Another big shout out of thanks! We were dead randomly a few times and now completely. Thinking also about fuel pump. Id done that last year on another car so I wanted to avoid. With this great advice, we were able to try the easy first, and it was sooo appreciated! Thanks a lot.

Yep, I did the fuel pump and that did not fix it. The car would start sometime and sometimes it would not. Then it just stop all together. Then I founded out about the starter relay and bam that was the fix. Cheap and easy. I hope it fix your problem.

Just replaced my Acura TL 2002 fuel pump relay and the old relay board had a bad solder joint. These relays go bad after 200k miles due to heat and cold weather.

My car was blowing a erg code so I focused more on the air intake manifold and what not but it started not starting at all like you described but was it also stalling mid drive?

1st Thank You 2nd I'm being told there is a button, or switch, before the relay that may reset after an accident. Any thoughts?

Most car have a reset button to cut off fuel in case of a crash. But your car would have to hit a big pot hole to make the fuel shut off to need to reset. Most car the fuel shut off is located in the back behind the left or right side panels. I have has only one car do that in 20 year. But it could happen but most likely not.

My car cranks and turns on for a second or two but dies out ,BUT IF I PRIME THE FUEL PUMP S COUPLE TIMES IT WILL STAY ON LINGER what type of issue may this be

Sounds like you may have one of two problems. It maybe the your fuel pressure is dropping once the car starts. I would say that would be a fuel regulator. You can rent a fuel pressure key from AutoZone to check the fuel pressure on the fuel rail. Or it could be the fuel pump relay. Cutting off once the car starts. But I Doubt this is the problem now that I’m thinking about it. Just look at what fuel pressure you are getting and start there.

I Have the exact same car. I have tried replacing the fuel pump. It worked for a while but then started doing the same thing you described. I heard it can be the fuel filter but i cant find it anywhere making me think there is no fuel filter. Im going to try this with a new fuel pump relay.

I did the same thing about changing the fuel pump first but as you said that did not work. So, I try this and that work good and is still work just fine. So, yes try replacing the relay next. Good luck.

@@michaelyoucanfixthat i can confirm that you saved my cars life yesterday. The relay was like 70$ but it was the only way. Thanks bro. 02 HondaEXCoupe all the way. Im currently ricing mine out. I have a aftermarket bumper and cold air intake right behind the window of the bumper. If you still have that car. You should slap an aftermarket bumper on that thing. It looks sick bro. Trust. Espically sense your car is black. Mines silver. With that little spoiler and everything ‼️ mines a 4cly so yours will gap mine lmao.

@@michaelyoucanfixthat tell her to keep it bro. These cars are so rare where im from. I see alot of 01 and the 02 sedans. But i rarely ever ecounter a 02 coupe. The 02 ex coupe model is the last boxy acccord ever made. I will never sell mine. I hope your wife never sells hers as well

No, this only deal’s with starting your car. You may have a blown fuse or you instrument cluster has a problem.

You need a starter relay. If your battery cables are on tight the only other thing is a bad starter but the would at less chick. I would change the starter relay.

@@michaelyoucanfixthat so yeah this 2001 Honda Accord V6 was sitting for 5 years and then I had the fluids changed and it was running again but then it started having trouble starting and I would have to pump the gas pedal while turning the ignition for it to start and black smoke would spew out of the exhaust. Then after a while it stopped starting all together and now when I turn the key to try to start it, it doesn't make any sound at all. it has a new battery. So you think it's the starter relay?

@@StarWarsAndMoreArt my Honda was doing almost the same thing. It would start then it would not start. I would have to remove the fuel pump fuse and reinstall it and it would start. So, I replaced the fuel pump and that was not the problem. Then the car got were it would not start at all but it would turn over but not start. Mine turn out to be the starter relay. I would try it, it’s only like $56. What do you have to lose.

Happened on my accord. Same exact thing. I opened mine up and used some electronic spray clean and it came back to life for some time. (And In the mean time got a new one to ride in the glove box). Wondering who thinks perhaps a clogged fuel filter over time might cause the pump to pull more current and make the relay overheat? Contacts in my relay didn’t look bad. How ever the thing gets pretty hot in my opinion. Guess I’ll see how long my new one lasts before acting up. Or will consider tossing a new filter at it at some point.

I changed my fuel pump first thinking that was the problem but that did not help. Then I asked a mechanic friend of mine and his said it's your relay. Because the car had this problem for years. Then it got to where it would not start at all. I think it's just one of those part that goes out after so many years.

@@black_thoughtz777 That's a good question. Most people and what I can find on the internet says the fuel filter is just the screen filter on the fuel pump. I thinking the same way. Newer Hondas may have somewhere else. I really don't know.
