Here, I'll be showing you a video on how to replace an oil pressure sending unit on a GMT800 Chevrolet/GMC Truck or SUV. In some cases, you'll run into an issue where your oil pressure gauge maxes out when you first turn the truck on and the engine isn't running, or sometimes when you're engine is running and you're not reading oil pressure at all, more likely than not, the oil pressure sending unit is at fault, and in this video, I'll be showing you how to replace one on my 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 with the 4.8 V8 ( • 2006 Chevrolet Silvera... ). This will work for the Chevrolet Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban, Avalanche, GMC Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL, and Cadillac Escalade that come with a 4.8, 5.3, or 6.0 V8.

The oil pump is in front of motor ... thats only where the sensor for engine pressure

Is there a screen for a 2006 gmc sierra 2500 hd? I didnt see you take out out a screen.

The LS v8's (in your case, a 6.0) don't have a screen, it's most likely built into the sensor.

Plus my sending unit came with a little screen is that not required to be replaced as well

Btw the little yellow grommet in your old sensor needs to be put back on wiring pigtail to keep the weather tight seal!?!!!

.... I'm not him 4 months later you need a swivel to 1 ft extensions preferably and preferably a deep socket 11/16 is your size

I watched another video that showed a specialized socket made specifically for removing these, but if a generic socket will work without damaging it then even better!

Gm makes a special socket .just for it and gm knock sensors .and a swivel or universal will definitely be needed . Also there is a screen filter that sits below the sending unit . It's about 1/4 inch around and 3/4 inch deep . You will need a small dental style hook to reach in and pull out to replace . To put back in just push it in open end up .then put sending unit in . And before you start the job clean area around the sending unit so no dirt and debris fall in while you have sending unit and screen out for replace ment.

it's not just that, I have the early GoPro Hero that doesn't have the capability for an external microphone, because of this, the sound quality is very pathetic. I want to save up some money and one day buy at least a Hero 4.

So I'm trying to figure out if my 2007 sierra 1500 5.3 has this filter. I tried everything to see if I could get the old one out. My truck is a split year. The body sticker on the door says 2006. The title says 2007. The dam oil filter is for a 2007. I had bought a 2006 filter and it was too small. The 2007 filter fit. Now I hear the 2006 5.3 does not have a oil pressure sensor filter. I read the 07 does. I was sticking bolts down the thread to find out if it has a filter and I'm lost here.

I replaced mine with the O’Reilly part and it feels like it’s not threading in flush. They look identical(new part might look bigger because it’s cleaner) but it’s not fitting to my liking .

This one I got from O'Reilly's, and it seemed to thread in just fine, so I don't know if you either bought the wrong part or the threads on your block are stripped out. The only issue I'm having with it since putting it in, is now when the engine is warmed up, my oil pressure gauge can't seem to make up its mind in other words, engine seems to have proper oil pressure when running and isn't knocking or ticking, but the gauge flutters and won't sit still.

Just change it first before you go spending money on a new oil pump. If your gauge is not reading anything or it's maxed out like mine was, yet the engine still is running fine without and knocks or ticks, then more likely than not, this might be the culprit.

2006 Chevy pickup here, oil pressure gauge stays down sometimes it moves but moves back an forth an the stays down.

Replacing that sensor will help out that problem.

I have a 2003 Yukon with a 5.3 I put 3 oil pressure sensor it has good oil pressure after the truck worms up the pressure drops to 0 the motor runs fine no knocking just don't have pressure

I have a 2005 5.3 vortex Silverado z71 oil gauge shows 40psi idle. That's it! Does not go back & forth. But on my dash it says"change engine oil" was told to change oil sending unit filter-& sender unit! But can't get harness wire off unit to take out!!

The Change Engine Oil notification is actually not related to the sending unit, usually when a sending unit goes bad, you get false, or erratic readings on the oil pressure gauge in the cluster, also the 03-06 (and 07 Classic) LS V8 engines don't actually have a filter on the inside.

This is what my 06 Trailblazer 5.3 is doing. Nothing else is happening, just the oil pressure gauge spiking right to 80PSi. I'm hoping it's This.. because I don't even know where to start changing out an Oil Pump on my Trailblazer.. 😒

I would definitely check the oil pressure sensor first before assuming oil pump problems.

I know, but I don't know why they put the oil pressure switch on the opposite side. At least it's not like a traditional SBC, so should the oil pump need to be replaced, I won't have to pull the engine just to get to it.

Oil pump is on front of engine runs of crank .where did you come up with it being in the back where sending unit is ? Didn't torque to spec ? KZfaq professional. I love you guys .keep real techs with work fixing your (look at me moment) SUCESS.lol

Bro you are I guess a stud if u use a torque wrench on a damn oil pressure switch . U are just pissed you can stick people for 2/3 hundred for 10 min of worm . I like him don’t remove the intake and I charge 30/40 bucks labor . I bet your shop charges over a hour to remove the intake . Give me a break. Go back you your over priced labor shop and F off .
