I had quite a few gremlins to work out on mine. If anyone needs to replace the ignition switch with a cheap eBay replacement, be sure to install the 100 ohm resistor in series with the wire going to the ignition box or the bike won't run. It fits inside the ignition switch, but soldering skills are required. Said resistor is not documented on the wiring diagrams available online.

"im going to buy a road king for my first bike" rides it once gets scared now just starts it up in the driveway once in a while to hear the engine rev tells his friends "yeah, i would ride it more but i no longer have the time because of work" sells it keeps the leather jacket spends the money on a new bedroom set from KMart wears the jacket to every social gathering he goes to for the next 15 years "i had a harley once, should have never sold the thing, those were the glory days" gets asked by long lost friend to go riding sometime with the extra bike they have. @@amideadyet268 Consider using whatsapp or some other app to share your live location with your dad whenever you go for an evening solo ride. While i never had to get permission for getting a bike, once i recently discovered whatsapp had that feature i decided to use it as a courtesy to my mom since i know she's secretly nervous whenever i get on the bike despite never saying a word. Having a little dot to check on every now and then to see if it's still moving helped a ton and, despite still not saying anything about how she secretly hates me riding a bike she's noticably less on edge when i'm getting ready to go for a ride.

@@EminencePhront That sounds right. I don't think I've ridden a ninja in a 500cc. I have for at least the following 250, 300, 700. I think Kawasaki makes a mistake by labeling all their bikes ninja that are extremely different in style and behavior. A 600R is a completely different animal from a 650R. My max on one (07 in silver/red) was 110 indicated when it hit the limiter, which on MT75s means probably just over 100 mph. Then again, you buy this thing because you can rev it to the limiter in 1st, 2nd and 3rd on a tight and not break 70, and because the thing is so easy to work with its very easy to go fast, it is sort of like the Miata or Ginetta G40 for beginner racers. Find me a club racer that hasn't owned and raced a Ninja 250. At least in my state (CO), you'll find one, maybe two max in a year

I've put about 20,000 miles on a baby ninja over the past 6 years or so. I've modified/repaired/meticulously maintained every major system on the bike, ridden curvy roads, track, highway, town roads, city roads, farm roads, gravel roads, everything; this review (while I disagree about modifications thing) is spot on. I love the commentary about learning. I've learned everything Mr Regular talks about in this video. The feel of the pavement. How tires feel when they slide. Getting a knee down. Working on it, and this includes modifications. Fueling. Throttle control. Suspension. Panic braking. Baby wheelies. Lines through corners; fast lines, slow lines, safe lines, scary lines. And most importantly, the freedom and zen of being so connected to the machine while you carve a curvy road that it disappears under you and feels like an extension of your hands and feet. These bikes are absolute sweethearts and everyone needs to experience one in the curvy back road environment where they shine. Do they have the power to pass blindly by the normal point and squirt methods allowed by the insane power to weight ratio of a modern super sport? Heck no. But if you can plan a clean pass between corners and commit to it, there's not much traffic out there that you find cannot be passed by one of these bikes without the driver being committed to extra legal speed through actual skill.

I purchased one of these bikes today, intentionally going with a 250cc as a counter-measure to my “I’ve been riding fast in everything else for years!” Hubris. My first time ever riding a motorcycle was today on this bike. Felt very natural, shifting/turning/braking was all great. So great in fact I was thinking of possibly leveling up to a 300-400cc in the coming months, but your last bit about the seasons and the experience you gain has given me a bit of pause. Greatly appreciated safety tips. Much more safe riding to you and all who read this! Thank you

I rode a 250 ninja once. I'm 6'1" and 320... Ish. So, I looked like one of those fat guys on a minibike. But, to make myself look completely idiotic my first bike was a Honda aero 80 I bought for 50 bucks. It was already wrecked. It was underpowered. Yet, fast enough to not get ran over.. on flat land. I know it's a stupid story. But this was a fond memory. Thank you for reminding me of my younger days.

The Honda Aero 80 was fantastic though, that thing would never die. I got my license on one....please tell me you had a blue one. That thing would jump to 25km/h in a heart beat, and then the CVT made you feel like you weren't accelerating anymore for quite some time until you hit the 60km/h mark.

Had an 09 Ninja 250r as my first bike, upgraded to an r6 this year. Everything Mr. Regular said about the 250 teaching you the ins and outs of riding motorcycles is 100% true. I felt how fast 60mph really is on my 250, whereas on the r6 60mph just feels like a slow cruise. A lot of the "feels" of motorcycle riding really are lost the bigger you go, I completely understand why people who learn on 600cc+ bikes usually end up binning them; because they don't have the feel for how fast they're really going. Even though 60mph may not feel fast anymore on the r6, I still know exactly how fast it really is since I used to feel it on the 250. It really does teach you a lot.

Well I just won an all-expenses paid trip to Brown Town, and I’m currently sitting on a toilet in my dorm. I figured now was as good a time as any to watch today’s RCR episode, but, unfortunately there’s someone in the stall beside me who’s probably already miserable enough without me playing a video on my phone. So I’m just sitting here, waiting for the destruction to end or for him to leave, whichever comes first.

So you say everyone should learn to ride on this like everyone should learn to shoot with a .22lr (because mistakes are not covered up by recoil like with bigger calibers).
@MilsurpMikeChannel
@MilsurpMikeChannel 6 жыл бұрын
The analogy is still true... most basic bros are unwilling to start with a .22 to actually learn how to shoot. As a matter of fact, if you put a Desert Eagle and a Ruger MK IV in front of a basic bro who has never shot, he will choose the DE and probably hurt himself. Although Mr. Regular didn't say it, it is small dick syndrome not learning on the 250 like it is small dick syndrome for them to not pick up a .22.

Even though it has almost twice the power its not much faster than the 250,mostly since it doesn't rev as high. Main advantage is the extra torque. A big guy on the 500 wont really be any faster than a small guy on the 250. So for a bigger person I think the 500 is just as good a starter bike.

I was about 170 all geared up and it was wayy faster from 0-60 than a 250, you would have to drop the clutch on a 250 at redline to get into like 6.9 seconds, while the ex500 could do 5.0 all day on a modest launch of like 4.5 grand

I bought a 1978 Honda CB Twin with its full fat 17 bhp. Slow it was, but it was an insane amount of fun. Revs to 13.000 rpm all day, is air cooled, tops out at 130 km/h, is crazy light (115kgs) ... I learned on this bike how fragile I was, I learned how to use inertia to keep up with my buddies on their 400c+ bikes and how to have very clean trajectories. This bike barely braked at all with its cable operated disk. So, for nearly a year I rode it every single day. Then I felt confident enough to get more power. I could change bike but I loved that small bike so I overbored the shit out of it, using 57mm pistons with its original 41mm stroke, making a 210cc 13.000 rpm 115 kgs bike with around 30 bhp. I then machined adaptor plates to put on some good hydraulics front brakes. I bought an xj6 to act like a grown up then, but sold it a month later : nothing beats a high revving engine that you can abuse all day with no vengeance from it and that you can ride full throttle without having to go to jail at each redlight.

hi MrRegular, I've got a 1988 Honda Nx250. a really cool and unique enduro that has turned heads of so many people, bike enthusiasts and non bike enthusiasts. it has a retro look (because 1980s), yet is still 'aggressive' enough to be taken off road and hit trails. I've commuted thru NYC with it, tore up trails in PA and literally everywhere in between. a really cool bike that was ahead of its time: in 1988, it had electric start and is water cooled. there's just so much to this bike that i love that words dont do it justice

My first bike was an 03 ninja 250. It was neon green. I had it for 2 years. Then I slammed it into a guard rail. That's what happens when you go around a corner too fast when there's morning dew on the ground. Took all the skin off my arms, flew down the road like a rag doll. Went to the ER. Got some pain pills and the insurance took care of the rest. But I learned my lesson. Everything wrecks, it's whther you die, or learn your lesson.
@Ultra04channel

I learned a very valuable lesson with motorcycles very quickly, and I haven't even bought one yet. The first one I checked out, I nearly dropped, and couldn't handle the modified (to make it more twitchy) throttle. It was a 300cc. The second one went slightly better, that time a 250, but the owner didn't tell me he already put it in first, so the moment I turned it on, (clutch had to be pulled in on this one anyway) it immediately started moving forwards. There's this distinct feeling of dread that can only come from a machine that you're sitting on moving without you doing anything. Nearly fell over again. That instance humbled me. It made me realize exactly why I need to start on a 250, or 300. It's because I can barely handle that, so imagine what a 600, or liter bike would do to me.

Thing about a Ninja 250 is that it's extremely agile. You don't get that on a 600 or 1000, which is why you constantly see experienced 250 riders beating inexperienced 600+ riders in the twisties. Also, you can push it, and if it goes down, who cares, it's a Ninja 250. If you buy a new bike, you'll be scared to push it, and be scared to learn. Even though I have a bigger bike, I'd love the 250. I think every rider needs a little 250 to occasionally fuck around on.

I don't need a sport bike bigger than the Ninja 250. I've kinda grown out of the need for more out of a sport bike. What will I even do with a 600 or 1000 on the street? Nothing, I have to take it to the track to get the same enjoyment out of it that I get out of the Ninja 250. I'm still getting a bigger bike, but it'll be an ADV or touring bike, something I can use that won't tease me to go faster. For riding around like a lunatic, the 250 truly is the best option and also the safest one legally.

Woodman Gaming I bought some fixer upper 1980 Yamaha 650 for a few hundred bucks, rode it for a year, learned how to maintain a bike and fix the many things that went wrong because I was forced to due to its age. Sold it for a few hundred and bought a new bike. I could have taken that bike apart and put it back together blindfolded. That knowledge was so valuable and I think that's the best way to start. Get a cheap throwaway, and upgrade when you're ready. So hard to learn anything on a brand new bike right away.

This was a great episode. I remember one year, some bro in the car club bought a 650 cc bike, the DAY BEFORE the club back road cruise. When we cruise, it's not like F&F or illegal racing or anything but we are going through twisty mountain roads in the heart of the Appalachians at 60-70 MPH in the straights. This bro goes out there forgetting that he's no longer on four wheels and has a vehicle that gets 60 HP per 100lbs of rider and vehicle. He lost control in the first set of tight turns and a puddle essentially stopped him from going over a cliff. He kept it upright but he did go off road and bottomed out his brand new bike. I can say in the club we wouldn't make fun of you for getting something like an EX250, but we would make fun of you for doing what this bro did. He's not in the club anymore because it's hard to match that level of dumbassery.

The seat was torn, the fairing cracked. The top of the gas tank got slammed by a drunk when I parked it downtown on a night out. This is the kind of bike that will run at -20c with an oil leak and lean carbs if you ask it to. And I will recommend that to any first time rider, ever. My new bike? A Yamaha Seca 600. I finished this season with it, and I'm looking forward to spring. Keep that shiny side up.

Until a certain bentness you don't even notice and even in this state it's really just a minor nuisance as long as you're aware of it. Not only do you not really notice them, but the funny part is sometimes you'll get on somebody's bike with bent bars, and realize that the bent portion is more comfortable than the OEM portion (the comfort is all due to a combination of your shoulder width, rider triangle, height, etc.) and you're like "upgrade?" lol.

You can start on a bigger bike, but you don't have to, and while I yearn for another Triumph Triple, I still badly want a 250 just for the simple joy it offers. This video hits it on the head; riding is fun, no matter the bike, and no one else really cares what the bike is unless they themselves are insecure.
