RIP Ken Squier. Much like the races he broadcast he told this story of this season and 2002 like a masterful poem.

The highlight was definitely the spring Darlington race. That was a VERY wild finish!

I don't get the controversy about this season, Matt Kenseth was the most consistent driver that season. Does it matter that he only scored one win all year? Of course not, he fully deserved to win the championship that year
@chrisuncleahmad2 жыл бұрын
Only one win rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. If he had two wins like Terry Labonte 96/Alan Kulwicki 92, it’s a different story
@SiVlog19892 жыл бұрын
@@chrisuncleahmad unless I'm mistaken, there was (appropriately enough) just one other example of a driver winning the title with just one race win in their title winning year, Benny Parsons, 1973

@@SiVlog1989or even win the championship without win a race; like Austin Dillon in the Xfinity Series in 2013 or Matt Crafton in the Truck Series in 2019

@@santinopucheta1111 in the case of Austin Dillon's Xfinity title in 2013, there was a rule in place that cup series drivers could still run most or all of the schedule and compete for wins, but they couldn't score points towards the Xfinity Series championship

@SiVlog1989 4 drivers won only 1 race and still won the championship Benny and Matt are two of them but the other 2 were Bill Rexford in 1950 and Ned Jarrett in 1961.
