My car battery is dead as a doornail. It's a relatively new battery but I must've left my dome light on. Well nothing works...not even a dome light or the blinking alarm light. Then I tried to put it in neutral to push it out of the garage so a friend could jump it and it won't come out of park. I was just reading about it and that can happen if your battery is totally totally dead. I read there was this button to push by the shifter to get it unlocked but didn't know where until I saw your video. THANK YOU SO MUCH! You had a very easy to see and follow video and instructions! Now I'm off to the garage! :)

I had to hold it in the shift release then shift. My car would get stuck in "N" and could not put it back in park.. it worked. Thanks.

Check your brake lights.....you may need a brake light switch. It's only $30 at auto parts store.

Another problem is that there is a FUSE under the dash and it is called BATTERY SAVER. If your car wont shift (like my altima with same engine and trans as maxima) AND your map/dome/door lights dont work then it is this fuse that is the problem. Replace the FUSE and car should shift fine.

What a shitty problem to have. I checked the brake switch, the battery saver fuse (controls shift lock and dome lights) and all are fine. I'm assuming it's the shift lock control but can't even find that part to replace. 2005 Altima 3.5L with the manumatic trans.
