It's kind of interesting how much I'm learning from just watching you silently dismantle the bike. You're not overly explaining anything, just doing it, and that somehow pleases my learning brain.

Amazing video Rob - things like the flywheel swap out really show your integrity with regards to thinking of not just selling the bike on - but the peace of mind for the new owner! Also - the depth to which you strip down really helps to show us amateurs that we shouldn't shy away from getting stuck in! Thanks as always for sharing!

So good to watch and learn a lot from ur videos man, especialy about that flywheel thingy that is regarding the Yamaha motors. Keep them more coming, i do enjoy them and it is educational, because i am also starting to get into the fixing bikes my self. Curently rebuilding an old Suzuki gsxf 1100 from '95. Cheers bud 😁👍🏻

The 2004 also suffered from a bad stator harness electrical plug, the plug would vibrate loose and cause the battery to run flat within 10 minutes, mine already had the aftermarket flywheel done but the plug left me stranded next to the road, luckily its a $2 fix

You are wild for rebuilding it without even starting it. I have an 06 R1 I won’t even touch cosmetic wise until I get it running, waiting on keys to be made.

Yamaha used those magnetos up until 2015 in a lot of bikes. The common thought as far as I’ve seen is that the bearing start to fail which cause heat and then the glue fails. Had mine fail on my old fz1 but managed to catch it just in time.

Yes, I know this same issue affected the FZ8 and FZ1 as well...

I like the new flywheel. Kinda silly for Yamaha to leave those magnets exposed like that and relying only on adhesive to keep them in place. Seems like an idea that the accounting department came up with.

We will watch an "organize the garage" video. It might even get you lots of views. Not so much the cleaning & scrubbing (use time lapse for that). But something like, "I decided to organize this section of the garage, so I partnered with X company, and used this product to hang my shelves (or whatever)." For inspiration, I like the Garage Journal site.

i cant believe yamaha didnt do nothing for that flywheel....my fz1 2009 its the same... they only change it for the newer one on the 2015.....its a know issues and they did nothing
