AHHHH sorry man but I gotta say, not replacing that rear wheel doesn't seem right. Balanced? Maybe... round? nope. Normally i see you going the extra mile on this type of thing.

yup, that rear wheel is far too wobbly to be safe at R1 capable speeds.

Scuff marks on the swing arm, he could have painted it while it was off the bike, its a quick fix, getting lazy i think

Yeah he even paid attention to small balancing detail @ 10:00 but didn't change the very wobbly rim

The new swing arm looks good and replacing fork seals always makes me happy! So sad to see sport bikes with bad, weepy seals. Between this video and part two, I’m glad you presented the stator issue with this bike. If I ever get around to building an earlier R1, it’ll be something I’m sure to look for.

10:12 yes basically a balance indicator. Its not a "required" thing, but results in a better balance in the end. You'll often see half assed tire techs in box stores skipping this attention to detail. Sometimes even catch them counter balancing a tire out of sheer laziness.

IN the inflated used market right now, IF you can snag a running bike for a low price. You can make a decent bit actually. IF you dont pay for labor.

Not gunna lie. I said OMG when I saw the rear wheel buckle. I would 100% repair it. Cheaper than replacing that’s for sure. Anywho, love your work mate!

Just picked up a crashed 2002 R1, same situation the guy dumped it doing a wheelie but laid it down. Luckily he had frame sliders. Would you say that the design and concept is pretty similar to that of the 2004 you rebuilt?

If I remember right from my MMI days. The balance dot or circle on the tire goes on the opposite side of the valve stem. 180° from valve stem.

Good thing about buying and replacing parts is the older parts you can rebuild and refinish and then the next bike that you get The same year or whatever you can reuse that part being rebuilt or refinished and save money

I have a set of Powder Coat White Rims, All Balls Bearings, Bridgestone RS10's Mounted and balanced with Angled Valves. Zero Miles on. They were going to be my track set of rims for my 05 but then out family expanded and plans changed.

What kind of Loctite did you use for front brake rotor bolts. I think that when you change brake rotors you must use new brake rotor bolts as well.

It is the same link, the one they sent out to me just had a slight machining error so things weren't fitting properly, I just reached out to customer service and they sent out one that worked perfect free of charge

I personally would have carefully removed the seals on those wheel bearings just to check if chinese manufacturer actually bothered with putting some grease there)

Probably cos he's piecing a crashed bike back together with used parts. If it's just a flip, it's not worth the extra bother or money as it wont effect resale enough to offset the work involved.

You should take that swingarm and have it aluminum welded...I bet they can weld that up and finish it up and you'd nevere know it ever had a problem...no, dont throw that kind of stuff away

it definitely was repairable, but not worth the time and money to weld and repaint it in my opinion when you can get a used swingarm for under $100

Seem like a nice guy but the bent wheel and the eBay levers and things of that nature I would not want to ride any of these bikes , that stuff is dangerous , someone actually pushes one these bikes to the limit it could be catastrophic 🤷🏻‍♂️. I’ve watched a ton your videos, they’re great , some of your choices are troubling though
