I don't know if you lived through this, but I did, and it was shocking how his campaign just basically ended after being the favorite the entire time. The scream, and more realistically, the negative news coverage, led to him losing a few more primaries before he finally dropped out, but it killed any recovery he could have had after a poor showing in the first state.

I doubt very much the scream was what "ended" his run. He only came third in the caucuses to begin with - he just wasn't that popular of a candidate.
