Fab video. Very thorough thank you. Always find just reading the old Haynes a little clinical but correct. Can’t beat a well put together video to go with it magic

Just a note for anybody doing this: the vacuum hose Gavin warns us about, that pops out a ball and spring: you don't have to undo the large brass bolt. The hose actually clicks into that nut. Get a screwdriver between the hose's plastic ridge and the release clip on the brass bolt, and pry them apart. Came out real easy and no risk of losing any parts!

It's a bit more cramped on a 2001 but pretty much the same. But you have to remove the intercooler pipe on that side off and have to get under to take some of the hose clips off. Thankyou so much for the vid. Didn't have a clue what I was in for.

Thanks Brendan. Yes it's a fairly tricky job for someone who hasn't done it before. I probably went too far with every fine detail of the video but I felt it necessary for all the 'non-mechanics' out there. I hope you got the job done successfully. Gavin

@@72wildcatz I’m going to strip mine down this week - it’s got a leak out of the connector end and the bolts so I’m hoping just gaskets and an o ring !

How did you get on? I was hoping the same thing when I did it the first time but replacing the gaskets didn't fix the leak. It's usually the water pump when the vehicle is over 10 years old. Let me know how you went.👍

@@72wildcatz bottled it and I’m just topping up. It’s always had a weepy leak then stops once it gets to min coolant level in tank. I’ll wait till after lockdown /spring as I’m only running round doors.

Saving this one ! Q: what symptoms show you must fit a new water pump?
@72wildcatz
@72wildcatz 3 жыл бұрын
Hi mate. Usually your coolant level will be continuously falling after topping up. There'll also be evidence of coolant on the ground under the front of the van after parking it overnight. The other things to look out for is the heater suddenly not blowing hot air. This means the coolant level has dropped past the point of being pumped into the cabs heater radiator and needs attention immediately. If in doubt, fill the coolant reservoir up if it's low, take it for a drive long enough to build the coolant system pressure up (operating temperature) and, after turning off the engine, CAREFULLY, BECAUSE IT'LL BE HOT, feel the underside of the water pump. If it's wet under there it needs replacing.

Hello , just a question because I have this work to do. Is the vacuum pump connected to the coolant or just to the oil. I mean, do you have to get rid of the coolant to replace only the vacuum pump or just unscrew it and replace it? Greetings
@72wildcatz
@72wildcatz 2 жыл бұрын
I just checked my book and it says to drain the coolant on the 2.0 litre engine. On the 2.4 litre engine it doesn't mention any coolant draining so I don't think it's needed. It's been quite a few years since I did this video so my memory of the vacuum pump removal is a bit hazy. The gasket on the mating surface of the water pump and vacuum pump does have sealing rings on it but as you say, might only be for the oil. I'm not 100% sure sorry to say. Maybe just drain the coolant to be sure?

Great video thank you. does anyone know what the large hose at 9:10 is called or the part code for it?
@72wildcatz
@72wildcatz 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Gabriel. I think the hose you're speaking of is the vacuum pump hose. Check with a Ford dealer and they should be able to let you know if that's correct. 😊

No need to remove the tensioner. Just use a lever against the spring tension to take the pressure off the belt and slide the belt off the smooth pulley.

Hey mate, at the end you said top hose nice and hot , what about bottom radiator hose, because I got a 2006 transit and bottom radiator hose is always cold , what could be the problem? Would really appreciate if you could guide me. Thanks
@72wildcatz
@72wildcatz 2 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Is your van overheating? If it is, and the lower hose remains cold, it could be an issue with the thermostat.

Would this process be the same on a 2011 2.4 RWD?
@72wildcatz
@72wildcatz Жыл бұрын
Hi mate. Im not 100% sure on the 2011 model because mine is the 2005. Take a look at the water pump configuration of your 2011 and compare it to the video to see if it all looks the same. It might well be identical or at least very similar. The van in this video is the 2.4 RWD so unless Ford redesigned the whole engine it will probably be the same. Take a close look and let me know how you go.
