2006 4th Gen 4Runner - LED Headlight Install

Today I am installing LED headlights on my 4th Gen 4Runner. This mod really modernized the front end of my old 4Runner. I think it looks awesome! Hope this helps you if you are installing new headlights!
Please note that this install is for a 2006 - 2009 Toyota 4Runner SR5. You will need a trim piece under the headlight if you are converting from an 2003 -2005 model year.

I got a 4th gen with the same blue color (hate it lol), and i just bought new headlights currently being shipped. Similar to yours, darker and not Chrome, but without the line on the bottom.. and i just say, the darker headlights look pretty good! Glad i got this kind. And good point with the uv protector. I'll probably do that.

I was kinda on the fence but I'm definitely getting things now. My factory lights have a light tint film on them to kinda match the galactic grey. Think I'll do the same with these.

after 2 years, I finally have condensation 😂 i’m gonna reseal the housing this week. Luckily I kept my old headlight housing!

The LED are very bright at night and cover a lot more area than the the stock headlights. I am really liking them so far

Yo, thanks for watching! I’ll make a follow up video soon about the headlights. So far they’ve help up really well. Still look new, no moisture in the lenses, and the LED strips still working

Hey brother I appreciate this video, about two years later any condensation build up? It seems to be a big problem with these so I’m scared to pull the trigger lol.

They've been holding up great. No condensation inside the housing yet. The truck lives outside. Its been raining alot the last two years and multiple trips to the snow. No issues yet. I think the main area to seal up would be where the DLR wires feed in. Hope this helps

I noticed 2 cans of Modelo in the background. Are those recommended for proper install? 😜 I am on my 3rd set of these lights. I am going to seal them this time. If you had to do over again, what would you do? I run my 4Runner through a high powered car wash as well, so I really want to make seal tight. Possibly reseal every couple of months. What are you going to do to remove condensation? The face of my lights are also peeling. How did the under dog work out for you? Do you reapply every once in a while? Great video sir! 💯🔥😎

Hahha Modelo is optional 😅 i honestly haven’t had any issues with condensation on mine at all. I make multiple trips to snowboard and wash often with a pressure washer. No issues yet. The lenses have held up well too with the Undrdog coating. I haven’t re applied since I installed. Will probably make an update video soon

Are you happy with these 5 months later? They look nice, but I saw some reviews specifically about the moisture / condensation so I would definitely follow your lead on sealing them. Any other issues?

I actually had them installed for almost a year now. They were installed a long time before the video was made. It's been through many storms and trips to the snow without any condensation issue yet. Just make sure to be very thorough with the sealing process. Hope this helps

I see you used Undrdog Pro on the headlights. How long did you wait before wiping it with a microfiber towel? I'm seeing conflicting answers for Undrdog Pro use on plastics.

Hi, I waited about 5 mins before wiping it off. I didn't go strictly off time but mainly waited for coating to rainbow then wiped. Hope that helps you

Im curious how well that UV protection you used has held up? Is the lens still in great shape?

Yeah the lenses are still in good shape. Still look pretty much new after 2 years

I recommend applying headlight clear spray as well before installing. Do these fit the 2003 SR5 4Runners? Do.you have a link for the grille? Truck looks great!!

I used ceramic coating instead of healight spray. Its been holding up very well so far. The headlights are for 2006 - 2009 4Runner. They will fit but you will need to get the trim piece below the headlight. I purchased the grill from Alibaba but there are a few US vendors that sell them. You can just lookup TRD Style Grill for 4th Gen 4runner.

They've been working great for me so far and have held up so far. The headlights are much brighter than OEM and have a much more crisp beam. I plan to make an update video in the future to review the lights.

Its a little bit less bright than stock since the black housing. I am looking into options to use an LED turn signal

Hey, I didn't need an adapter when I installed it. The OEM plug worked on my install.

I've thought about completely resealing the headlights. I wonder if this would suffice.

I also thought about resealing them with rubber butyl but it just seemed like way more work than I wanted to do. So far no issue with sealing them this way. I think the holes where the LED wires is the place most susceptible to water getting. I plan on doing an update video but they haven't had any issue yet.

The headlights are holding up awesome. The car is parked outside and are constantly exposed to the elements but still look brand new. I plan to make a review on how theyre holding up in the future.

They look nice and it’s not a big job or anything , but I don’t know if I want to be screwing around having to silicone brand new headlights so they don’t leak.

Yeah I feel you. There's just not that many good options for 4th Gen healights. Most aftermarket ones are pretty cheap so little things can hopefully extend their life a bit

@@danh8113 Light output is much better than the OEM lights. Its much wider and more crisp. And I definetly look back at my truck more when I park haha

Glad you enjoyed the video! Here's my video of the TRD style grill install. I purchased the grill from Alibaba and I'm happy with it for the price. There were some imperfections but barely noticeable. There's a few vendors in the US that sell them with more color options like SRQ and Garage Alpha. Where did you connect the drl wires? I heard it had its own wires. If so, cause I want a simply clean look with drl on during the day without switching to amber or full headlights on to have it working. Thanks bro

It does have its own wiring. At this time it only turns on with the ambers. I may re wire it in the future to a switch along with my grill lights.

I have the exact same setup that I just purchased myself, the headlights and led kit. Have you had any issues with the connection points? I’m worried the leds will burn the oem wiring harness leading

I haven't had any issues yet. I understand the concern. I may put some extra insulation and some silicone paste later to better protect the connections.

I have 2006 v8 4Runner and I have these exact headlights but one plug to turn of the blinker and the led bar does not fit in the plug, it’s too small. Do you know how I can get an adapter for it? And or what size it is?

I purchased these and I’m wondering what the red and black wires are for on the back. Can’t you just plug in the lights and install the units without connecting more wires?

Not sure. Everything was plug and play for me. You might need a different harness for the headlight if you have an 03 - 05 model.

Everything was plug and play. I didn't have to create or rewire any connections.

Am I missing something? I only see 3 connections on your aftermarket lights. Aren't there 4 on the OEM? DRL's and turn signals on OEM are separate, no?

@@stevenkmorrison I think you may need an 06-09 harness to run the DRL if you have an 03-06 model. Everything was plug and play for me.

From what I've found they will bolt onto the 03-05 models. You will need a trim piece to fill in under the headlight. I am not sure if you will need a different harness or not. Hope that helps. amzn.to/3iyzzUm

Hey Wil, how is everything after 2 months? Can you share your experience with yellow hazing or moisture fogging? Any issues with the LED temperatures?

I actually installed them 6 months ago at this point. No yellowing, fogging, or moisture in the lenses yet. The LED also haven't had any issues. I plan to do a follow up video at the 1 year mark to see how well they hold up. No complaints so far.

These headlights work for the 03-05 models with some modifications.
