Surprising my son with a 2006 325i for Christmas. 109k, one owner. Full service history. All new front and rear suspension, bushings, control arms, etc. new brakes all around and new tires. Perfect paint, perfect interior. Bluetooth, automatic. Getting it for $5500.

Jim Eadie Congratulations! BMW is an amazing car, the best brand In my opinion, one of the few manufacturers who make rear wheel drive cars The only thing I don't like about BMW is that because of the run flat tires, they don't have space for a spare wheel in the boot anymore in modern models, my car is an E46 330i and it has the spare wheel which I found was a very pleasant surprise when I got the car (my dad gave me as a birthday gift :) it costed a little below $6.000, which I found a bargain cause it's in really good condition and has low mileage

@@schieko8489 Please don't its just a Toyota with a fancy badge 😂 check the 325i out ask how long ago the valve cover gasket was replaced and how many times was it replaced with that many miles it's probably on it's 2nd or 3rd also ask how long ago were the spark plugs were replaced check brakes, pulleys and ask for maintenance history other than that you should be golden just take good care of it and have an emergency stash in case something unexpected happens these are great vehicles that require a lot of maintenance but they're 100% worth every cent also remember to add 1qt of oil every 1000 miles typically the engine consumes about 1 qt every 1000 miles but you don't have to go strictly by that rule you'll get a notification on your dash whenever you need to add 1 qt id go for the Beemer but like I said that's a lot of miles and I'm sure you could find one with 120k for 4500-5k which would be much smarter to do imo

I bought mine 10/2009 with 28k miles for $23k, manual trans with sports package, black on black (identical to one in the video). I now have 192k and it still drives like new. Maintenance and upkeep of ~$7k over the last 6 years, all normal wear/tear. Struts and control arm bearings, oil gaskets, ignition coil, water pump, front headlight assemblies. It's a beautiful car, just budget around $1,500 per year to maintain if you buy one, which is still cheaper than car payments on a newer car. I expect mine to last 300k+ miles.

I am the second owner of a 2006 BMW 325i Sport Package with manual 6 speed 72k miles. I bought the car in 2008 when it had 18k miles. I never used it for commuting. My son learned how to drive on it and I'm eventually going to sell it to him. It still rides like a new car. The driving experience is amazing.

Got my 06 325i a couple months ago with 128k miles for $5200. I bought it with a leaking oil filter housing gasket which let me talk the guy down in price but replaced it myself. Never worked on a car by myself before and it took me several hours and a couple KZfaq videos and I had it replaced and road ready. Shops wanted around $500 for the job. One thing about BMW's is that yeah maintenance may be higher than others but if you can do the work yourself and take the time to get to know the car then you can save yourself a lot of money and learn some things in the process. Also invested in a good OBDII reader to catch potential problems and fix them before they cause serious damage. That's another thing, BMW's are preventative maintenance cars. Take care of them and regularly service them and they will last just as long as any other car. That's why a lot of people don't recommend them to young people, they tend to just want something flashy to drive and not worry about anything else. I knew a girl once who never changed or added oil to her car and she blew the engine. Also a good friend of mine who has a 328i never really took care of it that much and it has suffered all sorts of problems and doesn't drive like it should. I think it's going to just give up one day soon. tl;dr take care of the car and invest money along the way and you can save yourself from paying thousands of dollars all at once on a problem that could have easily been avoided.

BMWs are DIY cars, that's for sure. They are actually not hard to work on as long as your not lazy and have a good attention span. Old timers will say "you can't work on them foreign cars!", but then again, you cant work on a modern domestic car either if you look at it from their pre-fuel injection frame of reference. Engineering makes things more complex, but at the same time, elegant. and you can take them apart and put them back together just like any other car once you learn the tricks and acquire the tools. The only thing i will say that is a barrier to entry for BMW, and Mercs, is the need for a higher end scan tool to do some tasks. Ive found that you need a tool capable of bidirectional control at the least or diagnosing some issues can be tricky.

You know what? I saw your Video and in the following, i replaced my great e46 320d automatic by an even greater e90 325i/manualT. The nice thing is, it takes me 2 Minutes to an autobahn without speedlimit. This car just needs more than 5kRPM in 3th and 4th gear 😁 Even in 5th gear, it feels good. It feels simply sporty and looks realy good, especially with the 18inch rims, xenon lights and sport seats. Thanks for your review

It probably depends on the car's milage and the milage that you plan to put on it. I'd imagine that you'd be able to afford it though but I know that prices for parts and cars varies greatly across the pond.

@GrahamCain
@GrahamCain 4 жыл бұрын
Casey Wolff The short answer is yes, it is miles better than any 2012 Chevrolet. At least until it comes down to the cost-to-own. BMW’s can be very pricey to maintain, but that can also be affected drastically by the way that you treat the car. Take care of it and it’ll typically take care of you. Just be weary of any issues that the car my have when you look at it. $3200 is a pretty low price for a car like this.

The N52 engine is good for 300k or more miles with proper maintenance, but the transmission might go out somewhere between 160k - 220k, so keep that in mind. $2,000 sounds like a fair deal to me though, especially if you are cool with replacing the transmission. As a european, I can tell you that yes it can be fairly recommended for a beginner to learn how to drive a manual, simply because here, we are filled with pieces of shit engineering wise, and yet we all do learn really fast how to use them. The bmw 3 series is among the top "smooth" ergonomics there is, so even if there are aspects that can be bothering or improved, it's so much higher quality towards that exercise you're asking about, compared to everything the millions of us, europeans, are forced to learn or cope with, that I can attest that you wouldn't have more of a problem learning how to drive a manual (and probably even be badly surprised when testing some of the average european cars).

I'm the owner of this car and the maintenance isn't bad at all. Now I baby my car and I use Mobil 1 full synthetic and I change it every 5-6 thousand miles. I do that by choice not because I have to. Saying that oil changes cost me a little more than the average person. Also this car is just as reliable than a Japanese car. Don't listen to those BS rumors about BMWs their great cars and is definitely the best car I've ever owned. Hope this helped.

I don't know what you mean by they're not quite that. Name one manufacturer that makes Rear wheel drive cars, with perfect 50-50 weight distribution and tests all their products in wind tunnels for optimal aerodynamics, the same technology in the production of airplanes and that bmw pioneered..... They are the ultimate driving machine

Sorry to shatter your dreams dudes. This car has major issues, including potential electrical issues. Eg. Car batt in the boot, so wire looms feeding through the side of the car are prone to rub raw and short circuit lots of things. Need to replace a simple headlight globe? Well... just gotta remove the tyre and fender splash guards from underneath first. After 5 years brand new this car will quickly die and all rubber/ plastic components will deteriorate. I know no car is perfect, but being German, these cars are for the rich to use till 100,000kms which they then handball off to lower class who dream to live like the people who bought it brand new. But unfortunately it'll end up costing the next person $$$, and will surely have little funds to fix. And please remember as soon as repairers hear BMW, expect to add 50-100% mark up on your costs for servicing and parts. Enjoy!

He's right, whether you like it or not.- Current 06 325i owner with only 116k miles. The outside looks great, interior looks great, but there's always something wrong with it and it's frustrating to do diagnostics and find the problem when you're not a mechanic. KZfaq only gets you so far, trust me. You have to have the tools and the time too. I've changed the fuel pump, radiator, waterpump, serpentine belts, pullies, hoses, reservoir tank, injectors, and a lot more on the car, but there's always either a light on or it breaks down completely. Now it's parked from yet another tow truck ride yesterday with codes P0017 (crankshaft sensor, could be timing, could be other things too) and P0204 (More injector/circuit issues). I've had it 4 years and i've paid for a tow truck 4 times because it wouldn't start and left me stranded. Easily a thousand in tow truck rides alone. Not to mention the amount of money i put into the car to get it running again. I've put around 3 times as much as it's worth, into the car to get it running. It's a piece of shit so you have all been warned. It's a perfect car for a mechanic, or if you're friends with one that can cut you a deal when it breaks down. Once i fix this piece of shit it's gone for good, so someone else can deal with the headache.

My 325i is always breaking, and it's a piece of shit. Save your money and get an M series. These are junk, please take my word for it. They have these cheaper models for you to say ohhh look i drive a beamer! When in reality, when this shit breaks, which it will, unless you're a mechanic you're really going to have a bad time and pay the price to get it fixed and have to use dealer parts on a lot of stuff... They make everything complicated on the car because they want you to take it to the dealer. Lots of plastic junk. Can't even get to cylinders 5&6 easily. I have 116k and i have an 06 and didn't even drive much. Bought it 4 years ago with 80k. Changed more parts than the car is worth. It's a bad bad deal.

@@monicamoore4466 Exact same boat i'm in! I have replaced all new parts with practically everything but the cylinders. I'm not joking. The condenser, radiator, belts, plugs, sensors, everything literally 3 years old or newer because they failed or leaked. Both window regulators went out after i wrote this comment within the same week. What are the odds? I'm getting rid of mine still though. But maybe i will fix up the exterior and keep it as a backup car. Not sure yet. Best of luck. I know i will stay far away from BMW even if i had millions of dollars in disposable income. Lol
