Why would you ghetto up a V6? 5 years ago I bought a 2003 V6 Mustang, base model, in Zinc Yellow, with 67,000 miles on it. It was in beautiful condition. Only options it had were automatic transmission, rear spoiler, and the black vinyl MUSTANG lettering on the rear bumper cover. I removed that. I don't like the spoiler, but there is no way to remove it without leaving holes in the trunk lid. It came with 16" ghetto wheels. I replaced them with a set of 15" wheels from a 2000 model V6 Mustang so I could use tires with wider sidewalls. It looks like someone messed this one up with the GT ghetto wheels, put a GT hood on it, and an aftermarket dual exhaust. I don't really mind the hood or the exhaust, although the V6 doesn't sound good with a loud exhaust. It has a very flat sound. But those wheels are disgusting. They are the main reason I would not buy a GT. You would have to replace a lot of suspension and brake parts to put normal 15" wheels on a GT, though it could be done. I do have a Crown Vic with the 4.6L engine. It's a great engine. But no way am I going to drive a car with those ghetto wheels and tires with 2" sidewalls.

Mine is the s60 T6. R design. It's one of the best cars I've owned (I've had an Alfa and Maseratis too). It's turning circle is not great, and the break assist is a bit aggressive, but it's smooth and responsive around town, and on the highway. It overtakes like a dream! Would recommend to anyone.

I have the 5.0 GT Coyote engine. I think the 300 horsepower V6 is plenty enough power and of course it is a true Mustang. All of the Mustang motors are awesome.

I was the kid who always thought, oh I want a V8, big thumpy loud car, fun to drive and you can hear it. Now I'm a bit older and looking at my first "expensive" car.. and I start looking at V6s because I've drive enough V8s to know that gas mileage is awful and the amount of money I've spent over the years on just gas at 4 - 5 dollars a gallon, yeah no.. not worth it unless its my backup car. These model year v6 mustangs are dope as hell, fun to drive and still have great power.

The thing is, V6, V8, GT500, etc., it’s still a mustang; It’s still a faster car than 95 percent of what’s on the roads. With a tight budget the V6 offers decent (not great) fuel economy in exchange for a having 3/4ths the power of a v8. It’s still possible to modify parts and tune the car under 3k to make a very good sounding and performing track-ready car if you really wanted, and that’s more than a V8 owners are usually willing to do.

I have a 2013 Mustang convertible. As I also have the V6 engine in mine, I also share your opinion. No matter which engine you have in your Mustang it’s still better than no Mustang at all.

Guys, I'm probably much older almost anyone that would watch this video (57). Get a V6 and use the rest of the V8 money to open a Roth IRA. Use the money you'll save on gas to fund your Roth IRA. By the time you're 59 1/2 (when the Roth IRA matures) you'll have enough money to retire AND by a truly, high end car. I'm getting 27mpg out of '11. My '06 GT gets 21.5mpg if I granny it and my Camaro V6 gets like 27mpg (and it's a better car than both Mustangs but that's besides the point). 3.7, V6 Mustangs are great option.

Im thinking of purchasing one at 190,000 miles for $8500 and it runs phenomenal. Never had a car with that mileage though so I’m a bit nervous. Can anyone give their opinion on this? Has a few slight mods but nothing major

I think its interesting that you noticed the difference in weight distribution. I think thats one of the biggest and most overlooked benefits of the V6. Love my 2012. I think I will look in to modifying it.

Love your vids. Great job. I've got a 2012 with the great 3.7 and a 6 speed manual transmission. It's great fun in the curves and hills of Arkansas. You are right about the lighter front end. Let's the car take the road as it finds it better than a V-8. And it's fast as well. Had mine to 98 mph just last week passing a line of 18 wheelers. Didn't even know it. It was so smooth..... 😁👍

I bought a F-150 with that 3.7L and I find it really powerful. Buying a used V6 Mustang would be a better value in my opinion because you would assume the 5.0L was beaten to death.

Back in 2020 i was looking for a daily car and my daughter who was 6yo at that time told me about buying a horsie car. I thought it was funny and also quite strange since i wasn't that petrolhead daddy kind trying to force her to get along with cars at that age. I never spoke about mustangs, there were no posters anywhere, I live in Poland and there were no s197 in sight. But somehow she was aware of it even tho we never attended a car show or anything like that, we stayed away from all that. Checked the prices and showed her which one she likes best - s197. I was trying to support myself by looking for videos, stories, evolution of it etc. It got to me that this is the last proper mustang to get as an all american rebel. Few months later a 2013 candy red premium V6 was on it's way from Florida to Poland. Clean paint, no mods, original rims, nothing done under the hood and 88k miles on it and it got to me that i never saw it in person, like at all. And what a memorable sight it was. Today it's all the same and original i relate with all what you said about the joy of owning one just for what it is. From the day i got behind the wheel even until now i came back to look at those videos of yours a good amount of times just to remind myself about how one feels while driving with my own momentum enjoying every second of it...and also it reminds me not to do anything stupid with it as there are so many mods out there. Videos you made had a big impact on the entire image about it, i mean the videography played a lot in it with all the exact narration how i would describe having one of my own and why i'm not very competetive on public roads in something what is commonly known for performance entry. It taught me to slow down in many levels and this car is like a therapy in motion for me. My daughter is now a 10yo and almost lives in the garage. Came here to let you know about that your message went trough. Thank you sir :)

You can get a low mileage 11-14 V6 for less half the price of new GT. For an additional few hundred in mods - driveshaft and 3.73 gears are really all it needs - you will have a daily driver that's as fast stoplight to stoplight as a new stock GT or basically any standard production Mustang from 1964-2010. (It will also be 200 lbs lighter than a new GT!) For my taste, the S197 generation is a far better looking and more collectible car than the ugly, generic, foreign-looking S550. I want a Mustang that looks like a Mustang rather than a Focus or Kia.
