Hammering on the threads on the end of the axle is a no no , put the nut back on the axle and don't beat it to death to knock it out , as a few taps with a 20 oz hammer should do it ! Also why beat the hell out of the ball joint putting it in ?? Buyt a press and do it right or grease the ball joint up and use a c-clamp and a deep well socket !

This method would lead to frustration and even more destruction here in Michigan. But it did point out that you don't have to take the whole damn knuckle off when doing these. Plus, the entertainment value! Hammer on, bro.

100$ says the threads on the axle are destroyed, and another 100$ says the plastic housing inside the new ball joint is shattered... Hammer it out, PRESS IT IN.

Just did my 06 liberty lowers, I'm in michigan I'm sure they're original factory. This method would never worked on mine. they needed to be pressed out. They were one with the rust to the knuckles.

Yes----but make sure you put axle nut just above flush of spindle so as to not damage it. Don't wanna mushroom it beating it.

Yeah it may be fast but if I ever saw a mechanic doing this shit to my vehicles I'd take the damn hammer away and throw it out the door. Not the right way to do this whatsoever. Complete hack job and no concern for the parts on the vehicle. Anything this guy touches will probably fail within a few months.

Side of the road is one thing... and if it is his car, none of our beeswax, right? A ball joint must remain circular and beating it with a hammer surely must cause some deformation.
