In this video I will show you how quick and easy it is to reset your headrest on Mercedes models ranging from 07 to 2014. this head rest deployment happens when the car is involved in a rear end collision. it could also happen from extreme shock after hitting a pothole.

Drivers side pulled down and locked in place with 10 sec of effort. Passenger side, completely different story. Took me several minutes and multiple tries to get it to latch. For those that can't seem to get it to work, I'd suggest to just keep trying. It took me perhaps 15X tries before I got the passenger side to latch correctly. Thanks for posting this - saved me a bunch of money!

Thanks for the information. I Have a 220 cdi 2012 reg. Mercedes which has had a rear shunt. Looking inside the deployed headrest, there is I a horizontal pin on the front of the headrest. At the rear there is a slot with two small hooks. Pull the front of the headrest downwards and backwards to engage the pin into the slot and then backwards to pull the pin under the two smallhooks. Spring tension is quite strong and it took several attempts to re-engage them. But back in position now, thanks again.

Thanks for the very useful information. I managed to remedy mine headrests as well, but without being aggressive I had to be firm and basically pull down using both hands and then pulling towards yourself. It took me a few times, but it did work. I also tried the power headrest buttons and both work fine. Now onto get the rear bumper cover repaired or replaced whichever they deem necessary.

Thanks for the video. My car is 2010 E 350 coupe. I had no accidents but both front seat headrest deployed spontaneously and I can see broken plastic parts. This happened separately. Any advice ?

the 2014 GLK is different. Can't just pull down and back in to reset. Has a latch that keeps it from being able to go back in. Have to have two people, one to hold the latch open and another to pull the headrest back in.

Damm I have that problem, I try that but only the right I was able to lock in place, now the driver side still have problems and for the looks of it I notice that the clip in side that grabs the headset is still locked in therefore I cannot get it to clip. Been driving my car like this for months now. Need help on that, don't know if I have to Rip the back seat panel and disconnect the switch in order for that clip to pop open. Could advice me what to do, I dearly appreciate. By the way, have a E350 2010

Mine doesn't deploy like that but I'm unable to lower the headrest at all, it just stuck. Is there some trick to this because I don't see any button to push.

@@SupaDane Look inside the head rest on the sides while you try to gently pull down. You'll see why. On each side is a little lock cam with steps to prevent being able to do what this guy did. You need the tool, or make a tool to release it. At the 12 o'clock position, of the top of head resr, there is a hole. Pull on rear shell gently to expose by flexing rear shell. It is a hole with a black plastic barrel around it. The tool is basically a long "L" wrench... push down on tool until you hear a click. Then, with tool still inserted, push head resr down and back in unison (diagonal)... pull tool out at last second and push head rest together until it locks back.

@@autodrglen5634 is 100% correct. I used a long 5/32' ALLEN WRENCH, pushed down between the tab and rear headrest 1/2 moon hole. Push down till it 'clicks' then reset into place. I have a 2009 E320 Bluetec diesel.
