@@Nick4b11 yes you can. but you'll still be using the vpod on the stock turbo. thats what im trying to get rid of is the stock turbo

Are you losing any coolant from the reservoir?

it still flucuates very mildly but its very tolerable. if your getting smoke out the stack then it could be your egr valve itself. thats if theres not a problem with your turbo. among a few other things of course. what else is it doing? what codes do you have?

it could do that, but your problem is more than likely going to be the vpod itself according to your issues. i put a "ugly fix" on my truck 3 years ago and still going.

@@curtisnstacey yes seems like a vpod issue , mechanic said better to get a new harness as well will update if everything goes well hopefully 🤞

@@curtisnstacey it ended up being a leak in the inter cooler after doing a air to air test.

I’m not sure if the engine light will come on every time if a harness goes bad. In my situation the engine light did not come on at all

Can my v pod go bad and my engine light not come on to let me know?

Cues my turbo goes low and then it will pick up ?

@@renezepeda956 you to buddy. but yes a bad vpod harness will cause your turbo to go low and then pick up. but the first thing i would change is the vpod itself. the acutal vpod goes out much faster than the harness

you first should try to grab that code from the check engine light and see what become of that. but usually first thing that goes on these systems are the vpods. try to do it yourself, the vpod is a fairly easy swap. at least it was on my 2007. last time i bought one they were near about $500. havent priced one in about 4 years

Yeah it’s not hard to change out I’ve just spent around 5g already trying to fix this problem. When I put a new wastegate on it made it run better but still hiccups at 1500 rpm’s and I can tell it’s just not running right but im Gonna go get one today and change it out just pray it fixes my problem.

@@chrishep4677 a wastegate? what kind of turbo you have? you should have a actuator ran by air coming from the vpod.

@@curtisnstacey yes I do and I put it on but now my turbo isn’t kicking in boost until 1500 rpm. Do I have it programmed by freightliner? I replaced the intercooler turbo, actuator wiring harness for the Vpod a new V pod I don’t do. The whole system is still messing up anybody got any idea?

If you delete your egr you will no longer need this wire harness. The symptoms I was having were turbo fluctuation. The turbo would spool up and down and loss of power. After changing this harness it did not do much difference at all. Always change your vpod first. That’s usually the problem when your turbo won’t spool up properly.

Water temperature drop from 180 to 150 within seconds Loss of power But can still pull heavy Problem has been with us for 4 days now There has been about 4 times that this problem would go away and everything run fine like nothing happens before I was on my way to Dallas with a new alternator Cause my step-dad was running on 8volts and his ac also wasn't working He said he let out some air on the ac system and ac started working so he started driving and the alternator started going up in volts But now dealing with this problem

@@dwnsouthtrucking7307 the turbo skipping could be the actuator on the turbo itself. It also could be the vpod or your egr is going out. Take a bottle of soapy water and while the engine is running at around 1000rpm spray that water on the turbo actuator, the arm going up and down, the air fitting to the actuator and also the actual air line to the actuator coming from the vpod. You could have a hole in the air line losing force to the actuator. I recommend “The Ugly Fix” in your situation if you have no air leaks. That closes the egr valve and it’ll get you going for now. I’ve been using it for 3 years now. Still haven’t deleted but about to

ive never experienced any shaking at high rpm. that one i could not tell you. if you find out and think about it please come back and tell me. i would like to know myself. i'll probably be driving a 60 series until i retire.

@@richforeverguapo8890 the only other thing i think it could be is the vpod is bad and yes i mean bad off the shelf. all those vpods are reman. ive heard that so many times. looks like you've covered about everything else i can think of. im deleteing mine next time it goes out. i have the program and the turbo in the closet waiting. lol

i think those are codes for your turbo inlet temp sensor or wiring. im not sure the harness would fix that. but tomorrow i'll get the part number for you.

They are, but when the mechanic hooked his computer showed many sensors codes, and he said that it is a wiring issue

@@sarmadaljabur ok, if its the the sensors on the turbo that's showing bad and he says its the wiring then the vpod harness would not fix the turbo sensor wiring problem. the turbo sensor goes off another harness. the vpod harness does not connect to any of the turbo sensors.

Yes you right, I fixed the turbo sensor issue, was bad wire. but still the check engine comes on when pulling up hill and the turbo flactuating up and down and kicks off . when driving on flat it's ok.

It’s according on what type of delete you had done. If you have a delete where you had to change to the older type turbo like the ones that’s on the 12.7 then no a bad harness will not cause this issue. But If you’ve had the delete where your still using your same factory turbo then yes a bad harness can still cause this because your still running a vpod.

In your opinion I need to replace my current VGT 14L turbo . Would you swap it to the 12.7 or keep it the 14L. I’ve heard good and bad reasons to & not to do.

@@tford9496 its according on if you have a person that knows what they are doing when they are tuning it for a 12.7 turbo. If i had a well known person that could do it I probably would go that route. but if your not sure just throw another 14L turbo on it and keep going.

I like your answer. Especially after paying for a second delete I don’t know who to Trust with my first truck. Maybe I’ll find some good mechanics I trust in the future. Thanks for the quick responses.

Found a shop to clean and service my old 14L VGT turbo. Mechanic at my old company recommended me to them. He said he used them a lot in the past. You ever heard of ppl having any luck with getting there turbo cleaned up. He gonna charge 1k- 1200 depending if he has to replace something.

On the passenger side bolted to the frame near the front of the passenger fuel tank. Follow the line coming from the turbo air actuator and it’ll lead you to the vpod.
