One huge thing you missed is that if you can’t get the aligning right adjust the actuator pin’s connector with an alligator nose plier just a little so that the key lock cylinder can slide in far enough to be secured. Took me a long while to get that part

Thanks for the video. It took a long time to get this finished because the key would only cycle between start and run. I didn't know I needed to push the cylinder in extremely hard to get the metal latch on the bottom to engage. Everything was assembled correctly, but the latch was far from the hole. I was afraid I was going to beak something pushing that hard, but that's what it took. It's working well now.

There are a lot of videos that show this repair. This is probably the best one - or it least fit my vehicle the best. Couple points he makes are important - there are screws holding the bottom of the steering wheel shroud on. The spring goes on the knob on the bottom cover plate. There's a tiny pin that tends to fall out of the bottom cover plate - and needs to be put back in. Little stuff like this is probably why the dealership wants to replace the whole column. But for me, the most important point was when you're putting it back together, look from the direction of the key on the right side, and line everything up before putting the key cylinder back in, and I had to push up from the bottom on the replaced part to get everything to line up, then push the key cylinder back in. You know that this was the issue when you take the old part out and you'll see the ignition actuator is broken - cheap metal can't take the repeated turns.

Left off the fact there there is one screw holding the plastic piece with the broken pieces of metal inside. You have to lift off the plastic piece above the steering column to get to that screw. Other than that great video, fixed my Jeep Liberty 2007

Hey thx a lot man, this video helped me big time. I would note that you have to make sure the gold lever (with the spring on it) in the new ignition actuator needs to be pushed in prior to reassembling so the key will "click" and engage. This was the only thing that held me up for second.

This is a good video but an important fact was left out. The T20 screws when removed allows the shroud behind the steering wheel to be removed. Under that is the black box containing the blinker and wiper handles. This must be gently pulled upwards and moved out of the way of the T10security screw on the left side holding the ignition switch to the left side of the steering column. You can't get the old actuator out or the new on unless the switch is release from the column. In the video, he skips that step. Also, after lining every up correctly with the ignition tumbler in place, l had trouble getting the tumbler pin to snap in place. It was right but just needed 1/8 inch. I used a small screw driver to pry it in place. Gently but firmly. The blinker box has no screws.

What are the yellow and white switches called ? I disconnected mine and a small copper piece fell out as well and now I can’t get my jeep to start after finishing installation

I wouldn't think that it is the ignition switch, but it's cheap insurance to Change it out. I would lean more towards the starter relay overheating or a bad coil. Sometimes when a bad coil gets too hot they don't spark properly.

Twenty minute and all is forgiven...took longer to add a temporary pushbutton bypass while waiting for the part to arrive.

When you turned the key, did u still get a click sound in the engine??

My jeep liberty horn works but have to keep both horns disconnected horn blairs unless you take 2 bolts out of air bag bracket under steering wheel then works normal but is the airbag still active?

Couple questions: 1) My car will start and I go to store. Shut car off. When I try to start again = nothing. Everything else works (Battery/Lights/Radio/Windows). It just won't crank. However, if I let it sit for a while. Hours/overnight. It will start again. Does this mean that my ignition switch is not broken? Because it started again? 2) I have a 2005 Liberty. I assume the part & repair would be the same as the 2007 video above?

You forgot to tell the people the screws that hold on the shroud around the steering column are security torques bit

My 2004 Jeep Liberty 3.7L 2 wheel drive has a piece of metal in all of the T15 screws..After removing the plastic shoulds and key cylinder...I wasn't able to go any further.

When you replaced these items years ago, was the jeep not starting at all or sometimes you could get it to start? I'm unsure if I have the same problem as you bcus my Jeep DOES start if I let it sit.

Would this cause my Jeep to not start? I turn the key and Hager power but no crank.

Amazon? Did the spare work better? Mine was part of a 2014 recall. I have taken my 2007 Jeep Commander 3 times!! No charge but after a while it gets stuck. It does not turn to the start position. Terrible design.

Good video but every size you listed is incorrect, the screws for the shroud are T25 and I’m assuming the other are TS9 as a 10 Dosent fit

I’m having an issue where the key cycles just fine but sometimes and it is rare I’ll turn the key to the start position and nothing. I’ll turn it back and forth a few times and after 5 or so cycles it’ll start. Thinking it’s the ignition switch any opinions?

It wasn’t the actuator pin but the ignition switch that went out back in September. Now it’s not cranking again and that immobilized light is on again. Plus, putting that pin together to the switch is harder than it looks. Fuck Jeeps I’m never getting that shit again

My jeep had starter replaced last year when it wouldn't even turn over this few months she'll act like she starting then go off now won't start but turn is this what ur talking bout in this video it started then died and now cranks no start

First you need to be comfortable with the repair. Then stick to the problem. And no music. If you can't do that go to the 'B' of you-tube.

had to do that to mine when I bought it. the part was only ~$30 at the local parts store. heater controls (behind the glove box) went out shortly after. both easy repairs. good instructional.
