With an anniversary edition of his best selling 1982 record, 'Thriller', in the works, this gave Jackson ample opportunity to garner press that focused on his music and groundbreaking accomplishments. Ending the year with the release of high-profile shoots and interviews in L’Uomo Vogue, Ebony and Jet magazine.

I'm glad the rest of the world gave MJ the respect he deserved throughout his life. They knew the truth and didn't abandon him when he was at his low point. Few artists can say they've inspired the world, but MJ fit the bill to a T. Even after all these years, he's still the GOAT of music. Great video from the detail. Long live the king of pop. 🎉

I love the refined classy look he had in the 2000s. He was more glammed up in the 90s since he was actively touring, but in the 2000s he changed his hair style and seemed to wear suits more. A man who's value increased with time & accomplishments. He looked real good in the 2000s

A deep emotional trauma is very noticeable in Michael's eyes, in his appearance..But the voice is still soft, kind and the most recognizable on the planet. In 2007, 2008, Michael wrote a lot of music, but he didn't strive to make an album or anything like that. He wanted to make films, he wanted his dream to finally come true

A very quiet 2007 for Michael in the public eye. He was spending more time raising the kids in this era. But you can tell he was brewing his return. He beat the trial, he's sorting his finances, & he's ready to wow us one more time. But damn, none of us knew what was coming next. *sigh* Only 2 more of these to go. It's hard getting to the end.

The closer and closer we get to 2009 the more surreal it feels that I am getting to see the Michael that was here when I could remember. I got into him after he passed. But I can’t believe this is the Michael that was roaming the earth when I was 12 or so years old. I wish I could remember him being here.

I got into him after his death to, I was born in 2001 and probably heard tones of his songs but was unaware it was him. The first memory I have of him was the this is it announcement live on tv. I was 7 at the time and was catching onto what fame was and that it was really cool. Seeing him I was captivated, the clothes, the shades, the perfect face I was just blown away with his presence thinking “this is THE superstar” and didn’t even realise it was the guy that sang “thriller” and “billie Jean”. Then when he died I knew of him because of the tour announcement but my dad woke me up (I’m from the uk) to tell me he died, like it was really important, and my dad probably had no idea I knew or didn’t know who he was.

i always challenged myself to watch his whole videos from the 2000s, yet i failed like now. I couldn't see him being tortured, everything is getting more outrageous, excessive and worse in his 2000s, as if people have forgotten his kindness and all his efforts he made for decades to create a better and peaceful world, and because of that I can only watch this video in just one minute, I told the story through comments, i'm sorry but i always feel miserable for him, for every pains he have to fight, love you michael 😭 i'm so sorry

Just imagine if Mike knew at the moment that he only had two years left to live. I wonder if he would’ve done things differently. Especially signing to do This is It. You can tell this man had been through hell and back. And not just the cases against him. Probably his internal battles with how he viewed the world, the industry, people falling for sensationalism, the turmoil with his family, the ruining of the world by mankind. I can’t imagine what it’s like to be such a pure soul, in a world filled with hate. Waking up every morning knowing everyone around him has potential doubt about his innocents. For something that is unspeakable. God I hurt for this man so much. I pray that this new generation takes his legacy and carries it with such strength. Wipe away the evils that my generation bestowed onto him.

Very well written. You also have to remember there was SO much love for him. Any person in his position would have to deal with some amount of negativity, its inevitable & part of human nature. There will be certain people that want things from him and do not care what the damage would be. I think Jackson handled it very well. The single most important thing about him was that no matter what, he NEVER acted like he was better than other people, he was always humble and respectful

@@generfeld yeah I agree, however yes he may have “handled it well” publicly, yes I’m sure he said many times “this comes with the territory” but that still doesn’t soften the blow. He was tortured since childhood just by the gifts he was given from god. Again I can’t imagine the parallels his mind had to navigate to make sense of such highs and lows.

This was a year he was in Dad mode,his kids weren’t really babies anymore and he protected them more from crowds and paparazzi, and lived in Ireland to get privacy. You can tell he was working on his imagine with a lot of corrective plastic surgery, he no longer spoke in that soft tone, he used his genuine voice, and started to wear more casual (but luxury) clothes. I feel like he was rebuilding many areas of his life and for the first time just being himself rather than the fanatic king of pop. With rebuilding every part of his life, the drugs obviously stayed very present with his addiction to Demerol, and obviously ended up being the reason he went onto propofol. And not just the addiction but the emotional trauma, it’s on his eyes. Rebuilding doesn’t just come from nowhere and you can tell he was almost stuck with immense trauma. In my opinion he hung up the act of the king of pop, and worked on being Michael in the public eye and not just at home.

Without drugs, he was still alive... He was very strong, had exceptional intelligence and could handle any problem. If it were not for drugs (“painkillers”) It’s bitter to realize this... But it’s a fact.

I feel like the appearances were obviously for him to rehabilitate his image, right?
