1993 was the year for Michael Jackson to rectify his contentious public image by revealing himself in a series of television and public appearances that would grab headlines, endear him to the public and ultimately help him generate sales of his latest LP.
His revealing 90-minute live interview with Oprah Winfrey allowed Jackson to explain away controversies over his lightened skin, and his dazzling Super Bowl halftime proved that Michael Jackson was still a force of nature on stage, igniting a frenzy as Jackson was to embark on the last leg of his Dangerous World Tour.
However, the tour began the same day allegations against Michael were made public, and as a result a legal and media onslaught ensued. Michael Jackson attempted to continue on, but eventually abandoned the rest of his tour as he battled with a mounting dependancy on drugs, with many asking… was it all over for the King of Pop?

Michael Jackson died all the way back in 1993, he was never the same person after that year. The press were there to hunt him down for the rest of his life, his “friends” were nowhere to be seen, but he was incredibly strong to keep on going afterwards because I have no idea how I could handle that situation like he did.

The worst thing to see is how he practically became a different person after this year. If you look at the Argentina 93 performance and compare it to Bucharest 92, you'll notice his face being more angered, troubled, tired and with less of the shining energy he had during the first phase. Even with everything happening he continued to keep going and to deliver otherworldly performances that year, but it is sad to look at how "haunted" his expressions, and soul were that year.

Ive said this for years. The last time we saw MJ as himself was 1992. He was NEVER the same after this.. Even though he continued to create, the shadow the allegations left on him personally and on his career remained until he passed. Dangerous was the body of work where we saw the high energy, almost whimsical character we knew Michael Jackson to be... After this he lost his shine.. Sad really

@@appleheadslatte we actually don't know why he isolated himself from the world. And the most important question is what was the reason that he isolated himself. We have to agree with the fact that he had mental health issues since childhood but the people around him including his mother overlooked it. His family members were never close to each other at all. His troubled childhood, troubled family life, his diseases, constantly trolling by the media everything turned him into what he was inside.

He was really on the brink of artistic freedom in the beginning of 93. He accomplished everything, had nothing to prove, wasn’t chasing trying to beat thriller anymore, allowed the world in to better understand him as a human being, all he had to do was just be authentic in his creativity at this point. Dangerous album was a sneak peak into where Mike was headed. I firmly believe if the allegations never happened. Mikes mind and spirit would have transcended even further ahead of where music was. Although HIStory is great. It was rooted from a very dark and negative cloud, that followed the rest of his career. Had it never happened, we wouldn’t have had History it would have been music inspired from a happier higher consciousness. The rest of the 90/00s I think would have been extraordinary for mikes music.

@@drulife5463 yeah it’s sad to think about. I think Mike understood that he would always be “different” in the worlds eye. What made him stand out, became his strength creatively. When all of his eccentricities backfired the way it did, it seemed like a detrimental blockage. It’s so sad, you see his passion slowly dwindle year after year. People will say drugs contributed, but I think the core issue was that. What we saw from 93 on was Mike trying to hold on. 😢

1993 could be his best year ever. People started to understanding him more and connecting with the general public for the first time in years, receiving special awards, changing the superbowl halwitine in to the biggest and most watch entertainment show in the world. I watched this in real time in 1993. Appalled by what Michael had to endure and all for money. The bigger the star the bigger the target! Man no truer words have ever been said. Everyone is on the gravy train until it hits a bend and it's so long see you. True friendship shows up when the tough times are all around you. Elizabeth Taylor and Michaels nephew's Taj, TJ and Tyrell were there with him and to this day Taj is still working hard to get his documentary completed for Michaels legacy. When Michael was in need where was the compassion that he had affored to everyone else. Humanity lost a beautiful soul in Michael and there will never be anyone else like him. During 87 - 90 I was a crazy NKOTB fan, (mostly Jordan Knight). I then moved to Chile, where we were so out of touch with news and stuff about famous people around the world unless they died. So I really didn't know much more about him, until I moved back in 1992, and one day watch MuchMusic (Canada's MTV) I saw his videos, when I saw him I fell in love instantly. He was so beautiful!! So I went to the library everyday to find out more about him. I started to collect anything of him I could find. Newspapers articles, and when the library threw out the tabloids like national Enquirer, I'd ask them for it. I even bough a couple of them because he was on it. All I wanted was to have anything about him, magazines, cassettes. I started to build my collection, I was obsessed with him. 92 was one of the best years to be his fan, so was 93 up until August. Everyone knew I was a fan and I started to get made fun of at school when the allegations hit. I was so afraid that he was gonna commit suicide. I prayed so much, but never wavered in my love for him. I kept defending him in spite of everything. All it did was make me love and defend him more, to this day. I am an active defender on Twitter, especially since that BS mockumentary LN. He helped me during my most difficult times, and I will never stop.

first of all, “can you hold this for me” is the most iconic thing i’ve ever seen in my life. only michael jackson can ask a member of a royal family to hold one of his awards😭. while this year had many many highs, it also had arguably more lows. what these people did to him makes me physically ill. he was such an incredibly pure human who had no intentions of ever hurting anyone. michael trusted jordie, and jordie started what would be a world of pain for michael. whether he wanted to accuse michael or not, jordie ruined michael’s life. michael was in so much pain, that even his own body started to hurt. no person deserves to go through what michael went through. he was forced to cooperate with the FBI during the dehumanizing investigation. jordie and evan are both monsters and terrible excuses for human beings. in some ways i’m glad that michael is gone because he’s been relieved of his terrible pain.

I remember seeing the anger, pain and anguish in his eyes when he came out defending himself and even though I didn't fully understand the situation and I was making dumb jokes along with my friends at school, my instincts told me he was innocent. I remember thinking, "That's 100% what I would do if I was falsely accused of something". I'm proud of him for speaking out.

One more thing to say on this video. 1993 is when the Michael Jackson/Jackson Family Fanbase changed forever. We went from being just fans of music & fans of Michael & the Jackson Family to this ALL-OUT FORCE that will NEVER EVER let people disparage his good name, their good name, & their legacy. A Multi-Billion People JUGGERNAUT that says Fuck Around & Find Out. People wonder why George Carlin had the quote about saying Michael's sweet, his fans are vicious & that he ain't dumb enough to fuck with Michael Jackson fans. Carlin was a SAGE & he kept it real about so many things in life including his support of Michael. 1993 is why. When these conspirators in this conspiracy wanted to remove a man who walked the walk as much as he talked the talk... ...we said HELL NO you will NOT remove him. You will not kill his Good Message. You will not stop his ability to Change Things. You will not stop his ability to Heal The World. The man was a rarity in this wretched human race & he must be upheld as an example for others to follow. NOBODY will tamper with it & NOBODY will tamper with him. 1993 taught me about the evil of mass media. 1995's Tabloid Junkie completed that first lesson. From the Jackson 5 Fan Club & the Michael Jackson Fan Club into the Soldiers of Love, MJ's Army, & the Moonwalkers. Whatever name you wanna call us, we are that FORCE & we keep on with that force Don't Stop...'Til We Get Enough. 2005's Witchhunt found that out. 2019's Leaving Neverland found that out. Who else wants to go up against a FORCE of BILLIONS?

He was clarifying the rumors about him at the Grammy and he was completely unaware that the worst was yet to come. The worst time of his life. This incident changed Michael the person entirely. I don't know how he was able to stand on the stage after the allegations. And... Latoya... she was the most responsible person for all the trouble Michael had. I don't believe she did all these because of her abusive husband. She did all these to gain public attention, to establish a career as an intellectual and to earn money using her brother's name. She is still living on Michael's money even after all these years of his death.
