Last I heard our local Ford dealership was $120.00 an hour and I've done this to a pickup of mine so I didn't figure it would be too hard just quite tight for space, so I avoid them like the plague!!!

Had this happen and was pissed off until I found this video! 40$ (CAD) and about an hour including the trip to Canadian tire, and all is now well! Feels good to fix your own car problems!!!! Thank you so much for posting this. Cheers Mate!

$20 part and 5 minutes... fixed an issue I’ve had for years. Thanks! I would like to mention, as I saw in another video on this... your view and access is a little more difficult getting under the glovebox. If you remove it (3 screws and under a minute), it’s a straight shot at the resistor without any weird angles.

Worked like a charm--and if I can do it anyone can. The hardest part was fitting my rachet in the space to loosen the screws. The rest was cake. Now all four fan speeds work and life is good. Thanks for the video!

Thank you for this video, I have been putting this off for a couple of years because I thought it would be very difficult to fix...this video and your "walk through" made me stop the video, go to the automotive store to get the part and within minutes I had this part replaced and now I have all my speeds on my blower running!!!! Keep up the great work, Dave

My 2009 Mercury Mariner Blower Fan would only work on high. After posting the issue to Facebook, a good friend told me what the problem was, told me to Google/KZfaq it, and I found this video. Great video. About a 5-10 minute part swap. I might add, that I happened to have an 8mm ratchet wrench & came in very handy in quickly removing & reinstalling the 2 screws. & on my 2008 Escape, the hole placement was the same as previous & were already opened up, so easy peasy part swap.

It looked so simple from your video I thought I would give it a shot. It took about 6-8 minutes to remove and replace. Thanks because I would have taken it to a repair shop. I REALLY appreciate this video and instructions as I replaced the blower resistor on my 2012 Ford Escape XLT yesterday. Following it to the letter helped considerably. It took my a bit over 15 minutes in 45 degree weather, and I am a BIG person(my "projects" usually last an hour or so because of space limitations)! The original resistor was "Made in Mexico", and the new one is "Made in China", so we will see how long it holds up. The old one had a blister on the corner just like you guys said. EXCELLENT video. HI, thank you for the great video. i had the similar issue ( fan was not working at 1,2 and 3) setting) and i was thinking about ordering it but when i checked my Resistor using voltmeter it seemed to be working fine. so i just used the lens cleaning liquid ( for no particular reason, it was just there on the shelf) and clean the surface with paper towel, plug it back again and it started working again. i am not sure how long it is going to last but before you order it try doing that if your resistor looks fine and has no corrosion or damage. also don't change your part because there is a huge blister on the chip, that huge blister is the heat sink and it is suppose to be there. hope it helps.

Thanks. I was able to fix mine for 30 dollars. There is a tab on the front of the connector near the wires that needs to be pressed back while simultaneously pulling up on the connector. I made the mistake of installing it without putting it back in the slot it came out of while on the way home. When I got back to put it back in it was hot to the touch and melting a bit. I'm assuming that it needs to be in the slot it came out of to keep airflow on it because it is a resistor. I Put it back in and it still works fine.

sorry if this is a stupid question, the fan blows at a 1 level for 1, 2, and 3 and at a 4 level for 4. This all happened when a piece of wood pressed against the fan knob at a stop sign (according to my Dad). Is it as simple as replacing the knob? Symptoms are similar but not exact and I believe it was physical damage instead of the resistor
