2008: KRS-One Keynote Address

“Let’s get right to work!” KRS-One proved to be the Hippest Professor Ever, at the Music Conference during Canadian Music Week 2008. On-stage delivering the Keynote Address, KRS chose to stand, not sit. He worked the stage like a Maestro, describing himself as “a Philosopher by trade,” “a Hip Hop Historian,” stating “KRS-One is public domain.”
He talked, he taught, he rapped, he shared, he shouted and he cajoled, he moved the crowd with his passion. KRS discussed the history of Hip Hop, how it grew out of the sixties Civil Rights movement, discussed the “Hip Hop Concept of Community” and the battle between the Corporate and the Cultural. He was stunningly prescient on the subjects of Branding and Licensing, two words he never used, but two concepts he articulated quite clearly. "You'll understand it in five years."
KRS-One has been politically active since before forming the iconic Boogie Down Productions in the eighties. Never shy to speak his mind, KRS speaks out on Hip Hop Culture worldwide. He has formed the Stop the Violence Movement and the Temple of Hip Hop, while continuing his groundbreaking recording career.
2014 HD multi-camera edit, assembled from 2008 tracks and SD clips.

You have to really see it and believe it tho. If complements are given at the wrong time it will backfire coz it's not felt in the heart.

@@andrewburnett2581 You only thrive when you compliment or build others. That individual lost, but you continue to shine. Who knows? Maybe someone overheard your words of edification. Shine on, my brother. Shine on.

@@willajackson8170 At least you're talking about the right thing. Complements and compliments, there is a dictionary that can teach people the difference between them. The first refers to something that can complete something else in the sense that it either accentuates it's qualities or adds to them. The second refers to praise and / or admiration. With that in mind, if you complement your friends, then you complete your friends in a way that is mostly practical I'd say. Maybe they know the first half of a repair manual and you know the second part. So then you complement each other because each of you has incomplete information but together you're stronger. COMPLIMENTING YOUR FRIENDS INSTEAD, means that you become richer for praising and admiring something in them that, just as Chris say's in the video "The more you use something, the better it gets, at least in nature.", grows bigger in them every time you notice and acknowledge said thing. The reason for the growth is that they feel good right as they display those qualities or right after they did, depending on when you worded your appreciation towards them, and they would want to display more of that so that they feel good again. After a time they won't need you praising them because just the simple association of praising that in them for a while would help them feel good by simply displaying those qualities in their day to day, even when nobody is watching. So as a consequence of that, because you cause something that you value in them to grow inside them, you now have more value around you.

What you have to look past is your own prejudices. They're appearance has nothing to do with it. All you can comprehend is what you get from your five sences. But before it gets to your conscious mind, it gets filtered through your subconscious and picks up a filter you could say. Of ideas and concepts that your physical mind needs to operate. Some of these concepts hurt others. Some of them limit you. We need to root out the one's that are not of use to us. And that requires constant work and dedication

Nah morally the man is demonic and he is so true to hip hop to the point he worships it causing him to go down a dark path. He speaks nonsense amongst our community because he's aware enough to understand they also worship hip hop. It never made sense to me worshipping a genre of music but you're still broke can't pay your bills or living with someone else taking care of you but that doesn't mean anything because they're waiting on that deal to come thru. Just a bunch of confused lost simple-minded people in our race without ambition. They have no guidance no good judgment and giving a con artist Baphomet worshipping black man the title of being their leader. We are so beyond lost that a lot of our people have no clue what normal is anymore. Plus people have to wake up out of the spell, KRS-1 is not deep. He never was deep, he just says a lot of nonsense that people never heard before because it's Jibber Jabber and you really can't understand it so to the simple-minded it sounds deep. That is the gift of a con artist with the Gift of Gab, they can talk real fast say a lot of words but have no substance to those words.

Only those with a nonfunctional brain, that's the person who dislikes profound information like what he gives the WORLD.....Racism= ignorance and fear to it's highest level. Hatred, anger and jealousy only keeps YOU in a toxic condition, never able to HEAL your TRINITY= MIND, BODY AND SPIRIT.
