These cars, in my opinion, really started it all. They may not be the performers of today's standards but they are still quite fast, comfortable, smooth and very easy to deal with. $1500 bucks and you can have a 650 hp car easily. They are great looking and a great bang for your buck car.

There are a couple of errors in the video; this wasn't the first year of the re-released GT500, it was first offered in 2007. I have a 2007 also in Vista Blue with white stripes that I bought new. The GT350's mentioned came out after the 2007 GT500, not before. This one in the video is also lowered; it has the FRPP struts from the FRC500 GT class race cars; I recognized the lowered profile/additional rake and the adjustable struts in the video as I also did this mod on mine. Not criticisms and love the video series, just wanted to correct some of the details.

There is not a new generation Mustang that comes close to getting the looks and jaw drops.

I owned a black on black 65' mustang 289/271 hp/4 spd car which my buddy still owns. That Mustang has evolved into this Shelby. There is one thing the 65' will do that these new mustangs can't and that is getting a thumbs up at a stop light. These newer cars will do everything better (acceleration,,braking,handling,comfort etc.) Evolution cannot be stopped. Great article Kevin.....keep em' comming. My Dad had a 67 GT500 and the 08 is a worthy successor of that car. its everything and more than the original 67 .

Can’t say I loved them back in the day, now however I feel like it’s nearly the perfect Pony car. Blown, decent brakes, and nice lines, and now affordable low mile examples are common.

My cousin has one in red and everytime i see him i start singing the opening theme to Gone in Sixty seconds.

In 2008 the GT500 had 500 horse in 2020 the regular Mustang GT has 460 I love the modern horsepower Wars enjoy it boys it's a new muscle car era

One i get my house paid off id like to get one of these as my first sporty kind of car. They are fairly priced, look so damn sexy and are beast under the hood. Im not too big of a car guy. Im more into motorcycles. But this car has always caught my attention. Frist time i seen one i was in love lol.

I have a question, have you ever seen a 1967 Pontiac GTO with a 421 cubic inch engine and 3/4 Barrel carburetors, also, headers on the exhaust system, you wouldn't believe the power the motors turning out with those three carburetors and a higher lift cam, see if you can find one you won't believe the power of the engine . because I couldn't believe it , I knew some guy who actually had one . you'll be surprised.

sorry but a Kenne Bell Supercharger doesn't come with the car from the factory (as shown in this video), so this is a bit mis-leading. Definitely making more than 500HP. Still, the GT500 is a sweet ride stock or modified like this one. I love mine.

Won’t get far from that 267 miles on stock internals. The 03-04 cobras could handle that power but the gt500 couldn’t handle much more power than stock.

Weak connecting rods.

I'd rather have the 5.8 or termi 4.6. both built with better internals.
