Brother, 😭. Thank you so much. My car started to putter and stutter during idle and take offs. My check engine lite went on and I used a code reader to learn in was a cylinder 2 misfire. I just did this with your help. Got a new cylinder coil plus all the parts for $187. You’re the Saint of 🚘 Repair. I can’t thank you enough. Your steps were clear and precise. You Rock!

Most cars will allow you to switch the coil to another plug to see if the problem moves, too. If so, you need a new coil. If the problem remains, it was just a bad plug.

Hi I just bought a 2008 Camry it drives smooth but when i turn on the AC a check engine light came on and start shaking, so I took it to AutoZone for a check up and the result was Cylinder 1 misfire does ya car did the same..........so since i watched this video imma give it a try and save a couple hundreds

When looking at the motor cylinder 1 is the left most cylinder. It could be a bad spark plug or a coil pack. I would change all the plugs if there old and buy a coil pack and swap it out. Check all the wires going to the coil pack and make sure there not frayed in any spot. Let me know how you make out or if you have more questions.

Using the anti-sieze on iridium spark plugs is actually detrimental than it does good. However,if you use copper spark plugs it a very good idea. The anti-sieze will eat the platinum or iridium coating it has on the thread. While the copper spark plugs it steel and most likely on any newer vehicles the block is aluminum. This will prevent galvanizing(rust) to happen.

In most cases your Iridium plugs do not need to be gapped. Should you decide to re-gap your Iridium plug, use extreme caution as improper gapping may damage or destroy the Iridium center electrode or porcelain center. Every other plugs I’d recommend gapping to specs. Hope that helps you brother. Let me know how you make out.

A lot of the new iridium plugs don’t need anti seize. Manufactures recommend against it because you need to use less torque when you apply anti seize, it’s much easier to over torque them. Find the torque spec for the plugs which in this case is 18 lb ft and don’t use anti seize, the plugs already have a coating on them.

Hello my brother from Australia, I have a couple subscribers from Australia. Good people, I would love to visit there one day. It all depends on the type of spark plugs you had installed. Regular copper plugs are good for 50,000 to 60,000 miles. Platinum and Iridium are good for 70,000 to 80,000 miles. You will tell the car get sluggish and possible the motor will vibrate. Depending on the spark plug type you have, I would recommend every 60k. That is unless you have iridium which can last 80k -100k. Rough engine idle, poor fuel economy, engine misfires, poor acceleration are signs that it’s time for a tune up. Let me know if that helps you brother.

Quick question, do you need high temp anti seize for the new plug installation? I think (could be mistaken) the silver anti seize is standard and copper anti seize is high temp. I wasn’t sure and thought I’d ask. Thanks for taking the time to post the video. Great job!

MrV2u Thanks again for the advice brother! Just got finished. The OEM plugs were worn (but still ok) at 80,000 miles. The anti seize worked well and made installation easier. I tried to use the advice that someone left in the comments about removing all the coil packs instead if in-clipping them. I wasn’t able to because cylinders #3 and #4 wire harness didn’t have enough slack to remove them. I had to un-clip the last 2. One of the clips did break. I placed a zip tie around the base of the coil pack and wrapped a second through the center of the plug around the first to hold it in place. Anyway, I hope this helps someone and thank you again for the video. Take care!....Ken

Great video, explaining every detail, but you didn't start the car for us, and explained what happens when you replace to new coil packs. I have a 2008 2.4 usa made with BWD E995 new coils. After starting the camry it will idle at 400rpms for about 3-5 minutes.. it feels like its going to stall and it will if you don't do a peddle push to for about 5 minutes. Then it goes to a nice 750 rpm and everything ok. I did also push on trip to reset dashboard. I Don't know if that matters? It's like the camry has to relearn to idol. Not a cert so I 🤷

@MrV2u

Are you sure the battery has proper voltage? Check with a multimeter and make sure it reads 12.6 or higher. How did you check the starter? Did you pull it? Did you check all battery cables for corrosion including starter wires. Take the handle of a hammer and give the starter a couple hits. Try again and see if it starts. If you turn on your headlights are the lights bright white? If you get bright lights and try to crank it does it go dim? You can have a hood starter with a bad solenoid on it brother. Let me know if any of that helps. We’ll get that Toyota running again.
@olaraq

Yea I took the starter out and used an alligator clip(attached to my car battery) to make sure the starter gear rotated properly. My battery is reading at 11.48 right now. Would the starter gear still rotate if the solenoid was not working?
@MrV2u
@MrV2u 2 жыл бұрын
@@olaraq Another common reason for the starter to spin but not engage is if the starter solenoid is faulty. The solenoid is needed to generate the magnetic field necessary to engage the starter bendix with the flywheel. It's very common for the solenoid to fail but for the rest of the starter motor to still work.
