This video shows how to change the oil on a 2015 Kia Optima. Changing your own oil is a great money saver and you can also guarantee that your car has quality oil. I will show you all the locations you need to get to in this process and the tools needed.

Dang that looks so easy. I’m super girly girly and I just wanted to learn how to change my oil to see if it was easy or hard. I and definitely am going to do this now. I don’t have a jack tho but I am skinny n small to fit under lol. I always think they try to scam girls at places. I learned how to change my own lights, change a tire and I even know how to change the break sensor that’s under the pedal from Yourube!!!(the sensor was a lil hard because it seemed like I needed 3 hands to do but I did it) 😊. But thank you for showing that since I have a Kia Optima 2016

So how is all the oil drained out when the car isn't level??
@carlovanrijk4039
@carlovanrijk4039 2 жыл бұрын
A lotta times the drain bolt is on the back of the oil pan, so when you raise it with either the jack and stands or a set of ramps, the old oil to be drained will gravitate toward the rear of the oil pan.

Okay thank you. I’m gonna try again on Monday. I gotta get a Jack that fits the Kia because the jack we have is built specifically for my ford so I am getting a proper one with jack stands tomorrow. On my ford I have to loosen toward the passenger side because the drain plug is on the back of the pan, that’s why I ask. Thanks again. This helped a bit but the bolt is stubborn so I have to crawl back under on my next day off when I have a jack that fits the Kia.

I have been using the heavy duty Rhino ramps for regular easy drive-on, drive-off oil changes for years, to make oil changes in my driveway really simple. I don't like to waste time with cumbersome jacks, except for other necessary tire , brake and suspension work. Just line them up carefully and set your parking brake carefully, after you slowly drive onto the handy ramps.
@vanallen9453
@vanallen9453 4 жыл бұрын
You will need to first remove any underbody plastic protective covers. My old Optima had at least 6 of these 10mm bolts holding it in place, which are removed and re-installed quickly with a handy short 10 mm socket rachet wrench. My new Stinger, however , now has a flimsy woven and much thinner panel which is similar, but not nearly as sturdy or solid as the older ones, and the lowered ground clearance and workable elbow room and hand space has also been much reduced. I always quickly dip these bolts in some of the old engine oil to rust-proof them before re-installation.

@carlovanrijk4039

Average Joey if I were to guess, it would be somewhere between 26-31 ft-lbs. I have a Honda Accord with the same size drain bolt.
@douglashornbeck1170
@douglashornbeck1170 3 жыл бұрын
The reason for the suggested torque on your Honda Accord is because the oil pan's aluminum. More than about 33 ft lbs and you'll strip it. Steel drain pans can handle more torque, not sure what it is on these my 2012 Kia Optima SX with the 2.0l turbo motor has a steel drain pan for those I don't worry about torque, just tight but not over tight, a little more than snug.

Yo I gotta disagree on the oil filter, change that shit everytime you do the oil, walmart has their supertech oil and filter for hella cheap.. the filter is like less than $5 so wtf. Since i went fill synthetic on my truck i go 5k miles but on the real i know i could bang out 7k and probly bee iight but i dont fuck around and push it like that.. Edit: yo after doin a 5 min reasearch it seems like these new filters can go every other one. Example my filter says 10k miles and i usually do my change around 5500 so idk. I still feel for the extra $5 its easy enough to do it every time
