This video was great. Walked me right through the process. One thing that very much helped me was that I didn't have a 15/16 deep socket impact but I did have a 24 mm deep socket impact which worked perfectly on that Lower control arm/ strut yoke nut. Also, I was very happy that I did not snap either one of my brake lines trying to pry on the new longer struts.

I nstalled these a few months ago with an RC 1 inch spacer on ther rear coils, took about 2 hours - I was very surprised, my 2020 Classic Quad, drives and handles better than stock and tows fine. Alignment shop said it was a simple to get in alignment, a couple thousand miles later no sag, no issues so far.

Would be helpful to just list the torque specs in the vid description...also mention there are some components you don't want to tighten down until the vehicle is supporting its own weight

Is this all I need to lift the front 2"? I was told by a shop that it might have issues getting the alignment done?

Having the same issue as most are in the comments still have about a 1.5” difference as the front is higher then the rear. Now my only option is spacer blocks in the rear or new shocks and springs

Also the rubber bushing the bottom bolt on strut may get seized and don’t believe most dealerships about having to buy the whole A arm as I have only replaced the bushing “pain in the ass”

measured the rear of my ram it sits about 3" higher than the front.. worried that if i get this 2 inch strut it will be to low in the front, and if i get a 3 inch strut it will be too high.. i read that this strut actually sits closer to 2.5". any ideas?

I would recommend NOT reusing the factory cotter pin. Once bent back and forth they break off. Use a new cotter pin in the castle nut.

They don't flex or absorb any energy from suspension, it's a simple mechanical lock preventing the nut backing off from vibration. Reusing them unless rusted to hell and falling apart in your hand is perfectly fine.

Why is there no mention of the angle of the upper ball joint? Any lift including spacers changes that angle which will prematurely wear that out. They make a aftermarket upper control arm which looks as of this truck already has.

@@joseromero1400 If its temporary, the damage can minimized. But thats sort of a waste of money. If youre going to do the 4" then save for the 4" instead of doing half a job and damaging some parts only for you to undo that at some point in the future. Just my 2 cents.

Man i installed these and it actually lifted my front 1.5" higher than the rear and thats coming from the truck having a factory rake to begin with. Was expecting maybe a .5" difference, either way, at most

@@assantelynch6913 Nope. I took off these and put on Bilstein 6112's. Looked a whole lot better but the rear is still lowered about an Inch. Nowhere near as bad as it was tho. Just gonna buy some springs thatll add 1" lift to the rear

Hello! please i need some help if someone can recommend me what to do. i do have 33 inch tires and a 3 inch spacer strut on the OEM suspension which is very short and the truck doesnt look that good because its only 3 to 4 inches clearance from the fender , im looking forward to gain some high, im thinking about getting this 2 inch suspension kit and then use my 3 inch spacer strut, is that a good idea ? definetly not an expert but id like to learn and i like to experiment. i have a 2009 ram 1500

I added these to my truck and the mechanic added a 1” spacer to the top. Rough Country says you can’t do that, is that true? I’m getting different stories here because I ordered different struts.

sounds like a dumb idea to me. Spacers fuck up your suspension geometry. It can be done but... why?? Youre spending more then it would cost you to just get the right struts to begin with. Just do it the right way.

@@splitloopgaming3523 So funny story, RC wouldn't ever give me a straight answer until a few days ago. To go from the 3" RC bolt on lift, with the upgraded upper control arms to the struts in this video (my factory struts both blew out at the same time) you have to change the upper control arm back to factory. They never told me that so I was under the impression that if you took the spacers out and put these in you would just have the 2" level in the truck. Not the case. The upgraded RC control arms that come in the 3" lift are ONLY for the 3" lift because of the ball joint angle; hense why it wouldn't work before. So long story short I haven't had any issues with the spacer on top of these struts but after driving it for the last 7 months, but now I have to fix it and do it the right way myself.

Also factory struts have a 30000-50000 km life span or 18.6k ml-31k miles

Ive have 4 different 4th gen dodges and non of them have had strut failures. Two of them have 400xxx+ KMs. Plus, the shock manufacturer suggests 100000km life span. Point being, all wear and tear is subject to the usage. Dont hold manufacturers suggestions as gospel, they have zero interest in saving you money.

If you never tow, ride off road etc, the struts are not abused, they will last forever unless rust is an issue where you live

I just installed these today on my 2018 Ram 1500. But it looks like it raise the front up 3 inches.... instead of 2. is there a reason for that? Now the front is 1 inches higher than the rear.

I Just recently purchase these struts and the new Micky Thompson AT Baja Boss tires. I just purchased the truck as well less than a year ago so with roughly 12k miles on it, would it be recommended to replace the control arms as well considering its a new truck?. The rep didn’t tell me to get control arms when I purchased the tires and struts but after reading the comments and your response, now I’m considering new control arms.

@@ric2702 with the spacer leveling kit you will eat ball joints like they’re nothing. Now I would imagine in theory the same would apply to this. But the consensus I’m getting at is with the strut version of the leveling kits, the ball joints don’t ware out as fast. I personally don’t see how that’s possible because either way you’re lifting the truck and changing the geometry of that upper control arm going into that ball joint. But at the same time maybe not. I know if you go with the motofab 3” front spacer that will melt your ball joints. There’s a review on them somewhere where the customer went through 3 sets of ball joints in a year.

@@xultm8wingmanxtv954 @Ric So I currently have the 3" RC bolt on lift in my 2017 Ram 1500. Both my factory struts blew out after about a year with the spacers on them. So I had my mechanic order these struts because I was just going to go from the 3", take the spacers and old struts out and use these. He ended up having to put another spacer on top of these struts because he said the strut wasn't tall enough to reach to top of the tower. RC never gave me a reason why, and now after 7 months I finally did get an answer. The only upper control arms they sell for lift kits, are the same ones I got in the kit; they ONLY fit a 3" lift. (They have a steeper ball joint angle to account for the ride height) So they told me if I wanted to take that strut out and take the spacers off I would have to go back to the factory upper control arm. It's been a massive cluster fuck. So long story short because they wouldn't give me a straight answer 7 months ago when the mechanic was doing it, I have to go back and take them out, remove the spacer and swap upper control arms...again.

Anyone attempt with the v6?? I called RC and they said it would fit just sit higher because is the weight difference some the hemi Was going to pickup a 1 - 1.5 spacer for the rear and maybe some heavy duty UCA’s to help with the stress

Well as of April 7th 2024, i installed the strut 2” level on my v6 and fits and the ride is just as good as stock if not better…. Does go higher than 2”… it’s closer to 2.5-2.7” but my ram is level …. Wheel gap is about half an inch higher than the rear so I’m going to throw airbags in the rear to help with towing and leveling

use spacers if you want more height leave the struts on zero. spent thousands playing this game...how do you expect to take 2 to 2.5 inches of strut travel away from extension and end up giving to compression. fux up everything. truck out of level left to right. Bunny hop action instead of articulation placing to much stress on the coils. pinging noise at full extension going over pot holes or speed bumps with fast sharp decline. Put the C-clip on the struts at ZERO and use Motofab spacers for what you want. These adjustable struts DO NOT WORK....used Bilstein 5100s and BDS uppers.

They're not required, but it will improve the ride and reduce accelerated wear on your current ones.

So did u like fight with everything to replace the strut an just put it back in to make it look like it’s easy to take out? Lol. Fuck I only have one side done. Had to cut the old strut at the bottom just to get it out lol. I wish it was easy way u made it look. Put in my rough country 2 inch leveling strut. But just one side so far

I’m looking to buy this kit but I wouldn’t say aftermarket shocks and spring are better than stock I’ve tried bilstein 5100 kyb monomax please don’t buy it sucks bilstein 4600 and rancho witch came rusty from dealer None of them compares to factory comfort
