I was impressed with this fabulous sport, had never even heard speak at Crossfit here in Brazil. Sensational, are to be congratulated all the athletes for the incredible physical strength and endurance!!!

I did not start exercising regularly until Jan. 2009 at 39 years old. The big 4-0 was around the corner, and I finally had the thought, "If not now, when? It certainly is not going to get any easier from here on." So I signed on to the local Y, worked off 25 lbs. over a year, then kept at eating well (no junk, no soda, very few sweets). This progressed into a desire to take things up a notch, and it turns out CF was two notches. So much the better. Thus, my loving comments re CF above.

I hear your point, and cross fit doesn't nail specific muscles like gym work does or bring's your cardiovascular system to new levels like running does. But I would say that cross training makes a person the best definition of "physically fit" than any other sport does- all rounders
@suprimacy111 жыл бұрын
Its just how you talk about it. You condescend something people truly put so much into. We crush ourselves on a regular basis to get to levels we have never been and few can achieve. But your right these are all athletes that might not have been TALL enough or BIG enough. Specialists dont get far in CrossFit instead its about enduring in as many ways as possible. Im just giving you a hard time.. come train anytime, on me!

I guess I should answer your question directly: Yes. In the South Bay Family YMCA program in I was in in southern San Diego, the "Team Weight Loss Challenge" consisted of six week programs of varied fitness: running, sprinting, kettle bells, circuits on the machines, push ups, etc. It was great, and it credit it for opening the door to desire for greater fitness which led me to CrossFit.

Crossfit seems so fun! idk why everyone hates it, its looks refreshing to do something like that rather than just being in a gym
@Luisventuralaw10 жыл бұрын
Actually, no, I cannot. I have been CrossFitting only for 4/5 months, and what is there not to love? That you feel better than you ever have? That you can do stuff that makes your friends' eyes pop out? That you can bang out a good looking physique? That you can run more, lift more, and do more than you ever thought possible? I think the nay-sayers are either not-doers or cherrypick some bad anecdotes, e.g., "I know a guy who got hurt doing back squats." Forget the hating, keep on loving.

On another note. powerlifter/bodybuilders/sprinters/endurance athletes etc. find that crossfitter somehow believe that they came up with something new or special. What they are doing is a type of decathlon or ( Pentathlon) nothing new about it . In which multiple levels of fitness are tested. it is great to watch and i am impressed by some of there fitness levels.

Soccer players have great cardiovascular endurance but terrible in stregnth Same for NBA players Olympians? They excel in one area that's it. ex. Powerlifters = terrible endurance. Swimmers = Poor in strength. Sprinters = Poor in strength. Crossfit is about cardiovascular AND strength endurance. Two key elements of being "fit". You're not fit if you can run 26 miles but cant deadlift or squat 100 pounds. You're not fit if you can bench 500+ or dead lift 600+ but can't run a mile.

Im pretty sure crossfit is exercise in futility. On this types of games and challenges, you don't want to train "crossfit" but calisthenics and cardio. being light and mastering your bodyweight is na huge advantae, while having great strenght and core.

So at school in gym we have "gymnastics" 5 weeks a year and one of the things we are tested in is rope climbing, I have last tryed it almost a year ago and I made it in prity good time but I used legs, so I cored 5/6. I can do 12 pull and I'm in good shape in general could I manage the rope climbe without using legs or do I have to have stronger uper body (if so, how strong do I have to be)? pardon my grammar (english is not my mother tongue)
@ianstratton16297 жыл бұрын
Without legs is much faster, but requires way more upper-body. A good gauge is if you jump up on the rope with 90 degree bend in your arms (hold the rope at your chest, basically) and don't use your legs. Try to hold this for 30 sec. If you can manage this, you have a good chance of making it a good ways up the rope without legs. Depends on the length really.
@domastaujanskis6737 жыл бұрын
Ian Stratton I have actually tested a week ago and I managed it with 2 short stops, but thanks for replying enyway :)
