Thanks for the video David. My daughter and I replaced the steering rack on her 2012 SE today. It went just like you said. It took us about 2 hours to remove the old one and 2.5 to reinstall the used replacement unit I got from LKQ (about $300 with tax and shipping). Works great!

Would you happen to know the torque specs for all of the different bolts that were taken off during this procedure?? I did this a similar way but when I was putting everything back on I went to Google torque specs and am having no luck finding them online. Much appreciated if you know. Great video either way!

Did you get any check engine light indicating your steering went out?

Mine was the red info box and error message "steering assist fault stop safely"

My traction light is on ,ford tells me I must replace the entire rack as the sensor in the rack is faulty ?can any one help

Adam k well the rack and pinion that I bought I got a "remanufactured" one online through eBay and it did not work after doing this job I learned a lot about this rack and pinion what seems to go bad on them is the motherboard and it's not serviceable so you really cannot buy a so-called remanufactured one because it's not really remanufactured I had to do the job all over again and I wound up putting one in from a junkyard from the same year model and wheel size and it worked fine but to answer your question if you get a brand new one yes I believe it has to be programmed

The one that I used I did not have to I got it from the exact same make and model at the junkyard but I do believe you have to if you get a brand new one
