The GLI has the same drivetrain as the Volkswagen GTI but packaged in sedan form which includes the turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that makes 200 horsepower. The Jetta GLI comes with two different transmissions: a 6-speed manual or the 6-speed automatic called the DSG. The engine and transmission in the 2012 Volkswagen GLI combine to provide great performance compared to other cars in this segment.
The 2012 Volkswagen GLI has a base price of $23,495. On the outside the GLI has a couple of subtle upgrades including GLI budging and a sporty aero kit. But it's on the inside where the GLI really shines. The car comes equipped with a sporty steering wheel and upgrades sports seats with red accent stitching. The Jetta GLI gets 24 MPG in the city and 32 MPG on the highway. There are many cars competing at this level but the Jetta GLI is the only one that offers German Engineering which results in a better drive and more luxurious interior.

All of the parts are manufactured in Germany. They are simply assembled in Mexico to reduce the cost to the American consumer SO WE CAN AFFORD IT. This car is over 40000.00 USD in Germany. I drove both a GLI and GTI. The GTI IS BUILT AND ASSEMBLED IN GERMANY. There is no difference in build quality between the two. They are both fantastic cars.

yeah i thought the same dude but it also depends which version youre buying, the estandar is built in the estandar country for example i bought a volkswagen gol the complete version and i found out that complete version is brought directly from germany and the standar from brazil.

0-60 just under six seconds? how much weight did they shed off this model?

@skitzthegemini 6.5 is the official rating, but VW tends to be modest. It's all on how the car is driven. How the car is launched, the driver, etc. Consistently, myself and others have had 5.8-5.9 stock. It depends on several things, road, driver, if the tires are warm, how hard you accelerate, DSG or Manual.

I'm not the biggest Volkswagen fan. But I have to admit the Jetta has a lot of nice things about it. The old moonshiners probably would have liked this Jetta. It's got decent performance, and it doesn't stand out or draw a lot of attention.

i dorve one the other day but it was a manual and i loved every minute i am buying the car for sure lol you need to drive the manual i have always said that i can out shift and out think any auto

"0-60 in just under 6 seconds" I'm pretty sure you meant just under 7 seconds. 6.5 is the official rating.

You're thinking of the normal jetta that has a 6.5 second 0-60. The 2012 Volkswagen Jetta GLI has a 0-60 of 5.8 seconds.

I test drove the GLI, and I left disappointed; the engine was great, but the dual-clutch transmission drove me nuts; I thought that thing was going to stall at low speeds, and it felt herky-jerky. Then again, I never drove a dual-clutch before, but some people said that it was common for those who never drove it.

zero to sixty in under 6?? How is that possible?? GTI is slower. Thats like Golf R range.

he made a mistake. he means "just under 7 seconds" which is like 6.9. or something

Good effort but comparing the GLI to the Civic SI and Ford Focus ST is confusing. It's an A4 with FWD.

that's the worst mentality dude, its not like the quality goes down or anything, there all trained in what they do, plus alot of it is robotic assemby lines. What difference does it make weather it's being made in mexico or wolsfsburg germany. All the design is made, it's just robots and trained professionals in a different location of the world creating the same car as it would be in germany...

HAHAHA, GERMAN CAR AND GERMAN ENGINEER??? OH PLEASE. THIS JETTA IS BUILT IN MEXICO. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE HOW CRAPPY THE BUILT QUALITY IS AFTER IT ROLLS OFF THE DEALER'S LOT.
