I had never driven a VW in my life, then while my Ford was recently in the body shop I got a Jetta 2.5 as a rental. I was impressed with the power and it had a decent sounding stereo. The ride is a little rough, and the interior of my rental was very basic, but it is what it is. My Fusion is a SEL and I am used to the auto climate, auto headlamps and all the other SEL features. Overall I am impressed with the Jetta and I enjoyed driving it for the 3 weeks that I had it.

I just found one today with 100K miles and got it down to $4500. Got a diagnostic and I need to replace the coil pack and the 5 plugs, but that’ll only cost me $150 and one hour of labor. I’m going to buy it in a couple hours. Thanks for the review

I just got a 2012 jetta 2 months ago and it is a very fun to drive vehicle he's right there aren't many bells and whistles but overall I highly recommend it

The rear seat backs fold down flatter when you lift the lower cushions out of the way. The diesel TDI is definitely the way to go with this platform. Great review and good seeing Dr. Davis behind the wheel!

I haven't heard great things about the Civic - but I have yet to review one. I liked the Jetta a lot - so I hope that the reliability is solid over the long haul.

Nice review! I have the 2012 jetta 2.5 SE with convenience package. I love the car and its good on daily driving. Engine has good low to mid torque but it tends to run out of power on the higher rpm. My G35 has more power on higher rpm since its VQ35DE HR... I dont know if the 2.5 5 cyl has vvt

I just bought a 2013 VW Jetta and I am very happy with the car. I had to retire my 06' F-150 after 125k miles of perfect service... It took a lot for me to say goodbye but saying hello to the VW helped the transition ! Black exterior titan black cloth interior 6speed semi-automatic transmission 2.0 (which to me is peppy enough)

Just got a 2013 Jetta TDi and we love it. Great on fuel and unlike some hybrids , you can actually put your foot down and pass someone on the highway. Sticky tires go a LONG way to help performance. Suspension kit could help also. Enjoy!

The Jetta and the Focus are both more care than the accent. I loved the Focus hatchback - even though I called it a sedan in the review. Either of those two would be a good pick in my book. The VW is smoother and more corporate all around. Probably get a better deal on the VW too.

How was the low end torque? That's where I heard this car really lags.
