I’m impressed by its reliability despite its age, mine’s close to 10 years old now and still goes strong! This is in spite of the previous owner’s lack of maintenance. I get compliments on it every time I take it out. This was the best one they made, they switched to 4 cylinders every year after this.

Same story here! I bought it for university, and I get compliments everywhere I drive! It's over 10 years old and it's still going strong. It's not the original Beetle by any stretch of the imagination, but it's a FANTASTIC car. I love it!!

to call an inanimate object "gay" is ignorant and immature. if you dont like the car, fine, move on. I'm glad to see a variation on a car i so dearly love. my grandad gave me his 1966 beetle and i love the damn thing

I do like the Beetle, it has some nice lines and a great interior. But I hasten to add (to all who thought the New Beetle is a chick car), if your masculinity is in such a precarious perch that a car would make the difference to your manliness, then maybe the car is not the problem.

This guy has always rubbed me the wrong way, but does so in such a charismatic manner that makes him equally fascinating and doubly annoying, like I know that sooner or later, he's going to go over the edge and I'm just watching and waiting for him to do it.

I had a 2001 bug and it begin to fall apart by the time it was 6 years even though it only had 69,000 miles. It eventually caught on fire while I was driving it. In 2006 I brought an 06 new beetle and shockingly i haven't had many issues with the car. 2006-2010 weren't big problem compared to the 1998-2005 models. Hopefully this model doesn't have issues.

I can say, my Beetle A5 2012 Turbo is 10+ years old and it's going strong.

Those little bugs rock!!! I own one, even tho it just doesn’t have the high end gizmos like Xenon and LED driving lights, the cool twister aluminum wheels, the Fender audio system, or the leather cushions.

it's funny, in europe the vast majority of cars are manual transmissions - very few people drive automatics.

I'm going to look at the 6 Speed turbo tonight. If I like the way it drives, a dark gray one with obnoxious orange wheels may be my next ride. :D

1:00-1:10 My cousin,gods rest his soul,was 6'2" and clocked in at 200+ pounds. He was the most fearsome man I have ever met and not fazed by most people's opinions of him. Until he moved into a higher tax bracket in 2010,he owned a Beetle and no one said boo about it. So I'm kind of rankled whenever anyone refers to a Beetle as a "chick car." Particularly after the Herbie movies and Bumblebee from the "Transformers" cartoon.

I have a friend who used to drive a beetle (2k model I think, at least it was silver) back when he was a high school football coach. 6'3" and about 250ish back then, the kids loved it and nobody questioned his manhood lol

So I was able to drive my friends 2012 Toffee Brown Beetle for 2 hrs to San Jose,. I currently have a red '99 Beetle and I've been in the newer models such as a 2006 & 2009... But, I was so unimpressed with the basic 2012 models! I feel they are overpriced. I mean there are tiny things the 2012 Beetle can do vs. my 99 one. You can charge your phone unless the car is on, the radio dash area is so plain an horrible. It's a shame they took the blue/ purple looking interior lights. Idk but I'mupset

I would be fine with a 5speed that what I've only ever driven. But I feel like the beetles girlyness is going to take a while to overshadow. Fiat 500 sport please

What is so great about diesel? Diesel costs more per gallon than regular gas. You can buy a mazda 3 which can achieve 39 mpg hwy using regular gas or buy a TDI beetle that can get 40 mpg hwy but cost more per gallon to fill. How is that a win?

Because if you illegally remove all the stupid emissions shit, you can get 40-80 MPG and more power, and since your breaking the law anyway, run it on fryer grease.

It definitely looks much better than the old "New Beetle", but I would still buy a Golf over this.

Our diesel VW Jetta broke down with major problems often. It left my family stranded on our family trip. Their service and quality S U C K S! We are going Japanese. I'm so Sad there is no more Quality in German like the 80's German cars. I really believed in them and wanted to support them. Now their saying should be Färfrombroken instead of farfegnugen. Good luck to you if you choose them though.

jon Reid have you tried other Volkswagens? I'd recommend trying the jetta. it's a really great car overall. however, it's your opinion, not mine.
