THANKS for sharing this!!! The reset worked on a 2018 Fusion. The car was in for a battery and starter test. After, the system only blew cold air. Simultaneously pressing the power button and defrost button ran the diagnostic test and the hot air returned. We are very appreciative!

Same thing here. Father in laws edge only cold air. He wanted to go to the dealership... To make it seem like they were really fixing it...they told us they would try and have it done before close of the next day....called us and said that they fixed it...$225.00 I didn't pay for it so I didn't pay attention to the explanation. A year later...he calls me up and said the Edge is doing the same thing. That's when the heater started blowing only cold. With wind chills approaching -50, my heater is a must.... so imagine my joy when this little trick worked!

Not sure if you'll see this or not but I have a 2012 edge with the 3.5l V6 and the heater just quit working on me one day. Experience tells me that changing the thermostat will usually fix that problem. So that's what I did and the problem remained. Found this video and did the diagnostic just as you instructed and now the heat works perfectly. Probably didn't even need to change out the thermostat if I had seen this video first but nothing wrong with having a new one. Thank you so much for this much needed tutorial video.

I have a 2013 Edge that was blowing cold air on the passenger side all of a sudden. I instantly was like, "Crap. Summer is ending. It's gonna get cold and I'm going to need this fixed soon." It's just getting cool hear in Las Vegas, (yes it gets cool hear in Vegas) went to turn heat on and damn! Nothing but cold air! I was so frustrated! Just got the car a few months ago. The AC was working fine in my 2013 Ford Edge, but the heat was only working on the driver's side while the passenger side dual air control was not working and would only blow freezing cold air. I was told I would likely need a new Passenger Side Blend Door Motor/Actuator for $300. I tried this technique and my dual air control works perfect on both sides. Thank you so much!

I'd like to add that it works with the opposite as well. My ac wasnt working so I ran this and my ac now works just fine. I think if you dont use a setting often enough it forgets it and just needs reset.

My 2013 Edge had full heat coming out of the passenger side vents regardless of the temperature setting; even with the AC on. The drivers side worked fine. I ran this diagnostic (I have an 'auto' button, but I still had to hit Power + Defrost simultaneously), I got the 88 88 and then everything worked fine again on both driver and passenger sides. This did the trick!! Thanks so much for the video and for sharing this fix!! Awesome!!

Thank you so much! The 1st cold front of the year blew in yesterday and I had 4 hours of running around in my 2013 Ford Edge to complete last evening. It was raining, windy and 38 degrees....AND, no heat. I didn't discover the problem 'til after hours for most maintenance places so I googled on my phone but couldn't find a troubleshooting option that helped. So I bundled up, stopped for coffee periodically and finished my evening's round trip. Once home, I googled some more and came across your video.....WOW! Mine responded exactly as the sample vehicle in the video.....instant heat! Thank you so much!! I'm sure you saved me a ton of money.....I guarantee that any shop I took it to during the day would have manufactured a reason to charge me some ridiculous fee and I would have never known about such an easy reset option. A simple, free DIY fix beats been overcharged by taking this to a dealership’s service department. A month ago We bought our Edge used from a Mercedes dealership. It’s was traded in, and being in great shape they kept it to sell. But during the test drive, like a ding dong, I️ never checked the AC nor the Heater. The AC works just fine. Now that We’re finally getting fall weather in SoCal, when we went to turn on some heat, there was nothing. Blowing air, but no heat. You could likely imagine our state of mind and dissatisfaction having to bear with the 65* temps. I’ve never owned a car/truck only 4 years old. Owned my share of solid old BMWs and still drive an ‘89 Bronco. I️ do love my Ford Edge but This is one of the reasons why I’ve stuck to older cars until now. Cars built with a transmission, steering wheel and a couple of pedals, have given way to cars run by switches, buttons and computers. Anyway. Thanks again for your work and sharing this Mark!!
